I ordered online while on BART. Not on a special app, just their website, which was very comprehensive and easy to use. I love Cancún and have been here several times before. I usually get the Al Pastor street tacos but the burritos here are also great. I used to come here all the time pre pandemic. they've since changed their menu and of course raised prices. I totally get it. I run a small business and I know how hard it is to keep up with rising costs. however, I wanted a very simple veggie burrito with rice- beans and nopales. I ordered a regular burrito because I didn't want sour cream or guacamole. I didn't even want the cheese. what I didn't realize is with the new menu structure, you essentially have to order a super burrito which is $20 if you want RICE in your burrito. that's right- a $15 burrito got me beans and cactus. I should have read more closely but I assumed that a regular burrito would come with rice and beans inside. those are the most basic ingredients. unfortunately they have lost me as a customer. their salsas are delicious but it isn't worth the price if you're just ordering basic items. read more

To stand out in the world of Mexican food, there has to be something uniquely epic about the restaurant. For Cancun Sabor Mexicano, it's their salsa bar. There must be 10 to 15 different varieties! Impressive, though they're not ALL appetizing to me. I met up with a friend for lunch here. It's conveniently located near a BART station. There's plenty of seating inside, for small and large groups, so we ordered at the cash register and found a table. It was a smooth process, and service was relatively friendly. There is an overwhelming selection of food on their menu, but I ended up getting the prawns quesadilla. It was surprisingly tasty! Fresh and flavorful, spiced up perfectly by hot salsa. Would recommend, though it's a little pricier than I typically like to pay for Mexican food. Also, I'm always skeptical about Mexican food because of the wide spectrum of quality that exists. But now that I know about this place and how many options I can order, I'll definitely be back in the future to try more things. read more

Wow. I read the previous reviews about the flavor here and they were absolutely right. The burrito has tons of flavor from the guac to the meat. I ordered a super burrito (which was an okay size but I don't think they should call it super) with carne asada and black beans. It comes with all the extras like guac and pico and what not at ~$13 (from door dash). The only thing keeping me from giving the full five stars is because the "super" burrito is kinda on the small or regular side and shouldn't be called a super anything. Other than that, the chips are amazing and I was nervous that this was going to be super greasy based on the top of the burrito when I unwrapped it but it's delicious and I will be back (by back I of course mean order delivery/takeout again). read more

I used to go to this place growing up in high school to get agua frescas, that was a looooong time ago. I went here with a couple friends after a 2 1/2 hour hoop session to refuel. I got a carnitas protein bowl. The carnitas was really good and the portion size was good. The price was a little on the high side for my taste ($13 and change) and didn't include any extras besides a handful of chips. That being said the chips were really good and there are at least 10 different salsas to choose from, but they are pretty militant on how much salsa you can get. You only get two salsa cups, so you need to sort of figure out what you want and stick with that. Luckily I opted for the bowl, so I could pick a few salsas I liked and just dump them on my bowl, then pick two that I wanted to eat with my chips. Parking is horrible and metered in this area (we walked here) and prices are not cheap, so I won't be making this a regular place to stop by. Delicious! They have a very unique menu and I love that all their food is sourced from a single farm. I got their nopales and mole burrito while the bf got their nopales and prawns burrito. Mine came in a tomato tortilla while his came wrapped in a garlic tortilla - neither of which I've ever had. Both were delicious and they come with a side of chips with 2 cups for you to fill with salsa from their self service bar. With 15 different types of salsa to choose from, there is one to satisfy any taste. My personal favorite was the pineapple hot salsa to dip my chips in, but to go with my actual burrito, the roasted pumpkin seed one was my favorite by far. Their sangria is also very tasty here, and they give you a full pint of it. It went great with my meal and overall, I walked out of here very satisfied. My only complaint: they should replace their furniture here. We moved 3 different times to 3 different tables and all of them were wobbly. My co-worker and I came here for lunch. I ordered the nachos since I have not had nachos in such a long time. I ordered it with the carne asada. The nachos dish is large. I only ate half of it. The chips were nice and crisp with all the meat, peppers, and cheese. A healthy lunch. I also piled on all the salsa's they had at the salsa bar. My co-worker told me to try the pumpkin seed salsa, as she liked it. She was right, that salsa is a winner. The pumpkin seeds are roasted, so the taste is very pronounced. I could not get enough of it. I went back for seconds and thirds. If I knew how good it was, I would have brought back a take home container. A friend suggested Cancun hence took my hubby there just the other day. Spacious place to begin with - cute wooden furniture with many seating options! We went on a wednesday at around 3pm so it was really empty. Staff was friendly and service was quick. Bathrooms were so clean - I love me some clean bathrooms:) Food was really good and portions were quite big. Menu has some really great options and so many veg options too. We shared chicken mole poblano burrito and grilled prawns fajitas plato. We had 4 choices of sauces and we went bit crazy with the extra hot sauce which was REALLY HOT!!! Salsas were yummy! Mole burrito was good but not the richest mole we have tried, but it had its own thing going on and definitely got stronger as we reached the bottom of the burrito where i guess it was all soaking ;). Oh and the chicken quality was really good. Grilled prawn fajitas plato was lovely and so light and quite a good amount of prawns in there. Ah, don't forget negra modelo on tap, so much better than the bottle! Price was a bit higher than what we usually pay but i guess that matches the quality of ingredients. We walked by this place on our way back to the car after being disappointed by the lack of service at Jupiter nearby. This place was busy and there were a couple of places to sit around 2:45pm on a Saturday. The line to order was long and there were menus on the counter to look at while waiting in line. A lot of the items on the menu sounded good to me. I ordered the Super Burrito ($11.50), a Soft Taco ($5.50), and a Mexican soda ($2.50). I chose carne asada for both burrito and soft taco. They gave me a pager and I went to sit down. When the pager buzzed, I got my food which came with chips. The salsa bar had some interesting salsa flavors so I got the Chipotle Mild, Strawberry Mild, and Mango Mild. The Chipotle Mild was not what was expecting and both Strawberry Mild and Mango Mild were good to me. The Soft Taco tasted good to me and the carne asada was delicious to me. The Super Burrito was about the average size of other places that had burritos. There was guacamole in the burrito but a little bit too much for my liking that it was overpowering some of the other ingredients in the burrito. The food is great when/if they actually get your order right! We used to go to Cancun on a weekly basis, but they chronically mess up the orders. Today our order for a vegetarian black bean and cheese burrito came to us as a pinto bean, rice and chicken burrito. Our vegan taco was delivered as a vegetarian taco with sour cream and cheese. As a vegan, I must say biting into a dead animal is absolutely disgusting. Every time they mess up our order, which is pretty much 50% of the time, they promise to credit back the item they messed up and they never do. I end up having to call and help them dig up the order so they can investigate and then tell me they can no longer credit it back because it is too late, but to tell them to credit me the next time I come in. This is such a waste of time and just ridiculous. Their food quality is great, and most of their staff is very friendly (hence the 2 stars instead of 1) but their inability to get orders right and then credit people for orders they got wrong, makes it such that we just won't be coming back. That salsa bar.... Yo. It probably is the best salsa bar in the East Bay, dare I say Bay Area? Dare I say California? Dare I say the world? About 12 different varieties ranging from super spicy, to mild, with accoutrements like pickled veggies, to boot. It's a shame you only get a small amount of chips, but I get it, you may never stop if the chips were forever flowing. The food here is solidly good. What's more impressive is their commitment to using high quality ingredients, justifying the higher prices. The space is big and bright, perfect for a larger group looking for a casual setting. I usually get their salads or the new paleo plate, and I never leave hungry. The food is solid. Big portions, quality ingredients, fast, and convenient. A few quips: Most recently, the salad lacked the stated cheese. I went back up and asked about it and they mentioned they only add the cheese if asked... weird... why have it on the menu? The paleo plate was more nopales (cactus) and grilled veggies vs meat, but that's ok. The meats do seem to tend to be a little fatty, but delicious, and the grilled chicken a bit dry. I used to frequent Cancun Taqueria when I was a student at Cal, more than 15 years ago. So when I found myself in Berkeley with a couple friends at lunch time, we decided to take a walk down nostalgia lane and hit up Cancun Taqueria. It was a little hipper than I remember (mason jars for drinks, wicker chairs, modern paint job) and the prices seemed a lot higher ($9 for a regular burrito, $11 for a super). I ordered my standard burrito - carne asada, pinto beans, sour cream, guacamole, cheese and no rice. When I took a bite, it immediately took me back to my student days. Unfortunately, my burrito tastes have evolved in 15 years, and this burrito wasn't awesome. The sour cream and guacamole weren't spread throughout the burrito. One end was sour cream saturated, and the other end was guacamole saturated. The meat also wasn't seasoned very much, so the overall flavor was lacking other than the saturated bites at each end. Also, they didn't have any hot sauce, so I had to get heat from one of the many salsas. On the plus side, the chips were good and the salsa bar was vast. The food and the ambiance/decor deserves a solid 4. I came here and there was basically no line and my order got done super fast. The menu is pretty simple and not overwhelming. The first thing that hits you when you enter is how darn cool the interior is. #aztec #mayan it takes you into a different space and vibe. I got a burrito and it definitely tasted super fresh and well cooked. It only fell apart by the end of my meal and was made hella good because of the bomb ass in house salsa that is complementary. You will be too, if you patronize them daily. I ordered a burrito with some kind of seafood, but I wasn't very impressed by anything.. especially the overall flavor. I understand and get it; they use the 'freshest ingredients"... well then, why was my wow factor woefully absent? Something not adding up, especially when they are charging a higher price point that borders on gourmet, and yet, that's not what this sad customer got. My family has been a regular customer of Cancun for years. The food is pretty good and the fresh salsas were special. However in recent months they have just gone downhill as the prices have gone up and up. At the end of the day, this is a burrito place and $16+ for a burrito withOUT chips and salsa is kinda crazy. But what really bugs me about this place is how often they screw up my order. Easily more then half the time something is missing. Since I'm ordering online and picking up, there is really no possible excuse for it. Burrito places are not that uncommon. So yourself a favor a choose a better one. read more

I wasn't in the mood to try Mexican food, but my housemate mentioned that they have really good aqua frescas and I was quite thirsty when she suggested we go. I'm glad we did. I got to drink a refreshing strawberry aqua fresca on a warm day. There were other flavors such as lemon, watermelon, lime, and horchata. My strawberry drink included bits of real strawberry. Yum! The food on the other hand was just ok. I ordered a soft veggie taco. It didn't stand out, but it hit the spot. I must admit that $3.95 was a bit pricy for its size. My other favorite thing about this place besides the aqua frescas is the salsa bar. There were literally at least 10 flavors. My favorites included strawberry (can you tell I really like strawberry?!), pineapple, and mango. They are a bit stingy with the cups to fill the salsa. I went up to ask for a small cup and the guy gave me a dirty look. The staff doesn't seem to really enjoy their jobs or so it seems with their cheerfulness (insert sarcasm). This place... omg. First, when you walk in it feels like you're in a resort in Mexico haha. It looks so much bigger than it is outside! The menus are right at the front so you make your choice and order at the cashier! They have fresh watermelon juice served in a mason jar and I suggest you get some! It's not too sweet and there's pieces of watermelon in it!! The salsa bar is pretty amazing. They have so many options, but I had to try their mango salsa that my friend highly recommended. I ordered chicken quesadillas and it was probably the best quesadilla I've had. It was fat! Filled with big pieces of chicken, avocado, tomatoes...some type of special sauce...it was heaven. Plus it came with a nice batch of freshly cooked chips! My friend ordered a pork plate and for the meat lovers out there, it looks like a pretty good choice since you have a big pile of meat, with chips, and tortillas. My wife and I recently ventured to Berkeley and visited Cancun Sabor Mexicano for the 1st time since before the pandemic. We were glad we did. We both had burritos with prawns and nopales ;cactus), and it was as tasty as ever. The beans were perfect, and the prawns had a light taste of garlic. Plus, there were excellent corn chips (thanks for not adding too much salt) and a delicious tomatillo salsa. I topped mine off with a well-made horchata. This is the thanks I get. I ordered two meals and was only given two small cups of salsa. When I requested more, I was sharply told "two more and that's it!" as if I was begging for food. I informed this person that I have money (you know, like the $30 spent on this lunch) and have no problem paying for more salsa. I have grown up and worked in Berkeley my entire life. I would rave about the quantity and quality of the food offered. This review is based solely on the pricing and not the ingredients which remain superb is freshness. On a recent visit I ordered what is now the BASIC burrito which comes with only beans, your choice of meat, and salsa. Everything else which was standard for a burrito was now extra!!! Now let's be clear I'm totally fine paying extra for my Guac. but since when did the charge for RICE. I figured I would get the basic burrito and add the guac, the disrespect of the child size burrito was appalling there was maybe approx. half a scoop of meat and the rest of the burrito was filled with beans. The lady asked when placing my order if I'd like chips which I agreed but NEVER did I think they were charging me $2 + dollars for it I've never been to a restaurant where there's a charge for chips it comes with the meal. Now you will encounter them asking simply because some choose not to have chips but never an extra charge. I paid almost $18 was the photo attached which was about 10 chips and a burrito my 2 year old would devour in less than 5 minutes, not acceptable and will no longer patronize the business nor refer my co workers, family, and friends. Had a quick meeting here and wanted to just chill. We were the 1st people of the day around 11 or at least we were alone. Mind you, I like my tortillas crispy (not crunchy hard) so when I saw Crispy tacos.... I knew what I was having. I'm not a huge fan of any kind of fish taco either normally. But wow! The crispy prawn taco was amazing. The best prawn taco I've ever had! Had it served with refried beans and they give you chips as well as a little porcelain cup for the salsa bar. There must have been 20 salsas. I went for the green but you need to try the habanero. So hot it had me sweating. What a ruckus and popular spot this is, on a Friday night in Berkeley! Clearly a local favorite. Located adjacent to "Gather" restaurant, it would appear this place has been influenced by the "locally-grown, organic" food theme of its neighbor. The walls are decorated with signs about organically grown tomatoes used in their salsas and condiments. A long queue of customers was processed fairly quickly, with a helpful worker offering assistance by describing menu items to waiting customers. I ordered a shrimp and an al pastor hard taco, and grabbed a buzzer, which lit up within about 5 minutes of ordering. When you collect your plate, it comes with two small empty plastic tubs to serve yourself salsa from the bar. Their salsa bar is the highlight of this spot. There are about 12 varieties of salsas including one with strawberry, one made with pumpkin seeds, a variety of medium and mild tomato based ones, salsas featuring green tomatillo, smoky chipotle, and lime pieces. A little something to tantalize one and all. My crispy tacos were chockfull of fairly delicious meat/shrimp, but also featured gaucamole. To avoid spillage the tacos came wrapped in baker's parchment paper. However I found this inconvenient as the construction of the crispy taco broke fairly quickly and felt I had to scrape most of my taco off the paper. The price of each taco was around $5 which isn't cheap, is probably apropos for downtown Berkeley. The two tacos together hit my hunger pangs. Being on vacation in Mexico taught me about excellent food. This place would be more authentic with better tortillas and salsa's but it's fresh and low fat meals are a good thing. It's location is near downtown Berkeley Bart so it's convenient too. Check it out. It's worth your time and tip the guys generously. read more

I don't have Mexican food often, but I wanted to try because the front of the restaurant looked so cool! I've also walked by the the morning and seen their fresh veggies coming in, the ingredients were fresh I could tell when I ate it. I got a super burrito and shared the nachos. We couldn't not finish, it was so much food. The nachos were more loaded than we expected, and probably a full meal for one person. Would go here over Chipotle any day. read more

The service was TERRIBLE i was Ignored for half sn hour just for the Woman at the front say she did not put my order in and then continued to ignore me it took 35 or more minutes just to get my salad i also asked her for avocado and other toppings and was charged for it and not on my food the woman had a terrible attitude and was very rude and disrespectful read more

Good flavor and fresh ingredients. Ambiance is nice too: bright light, wood furniture, spacious and clean. Portion is smaller compared to Gordo Taqueria or La Burrita, but quality is better.
