Deceptive image

This review is based on a delivery order that we placed via Uber Eats. This order was for 5 people, 2 people ordered burritos, 2 of us ordered tacos, 1 person ordered a burrito bowl. For the entire order with tax and tip it came out to $154.41 For my order I had the vegan tacos and a side of beans and rice. I gave 3 stars for this order because the image for the crispy tacos shows 3 tacos when in reality it is only 1 taco. The image seems purposely deceptive. On their delivery webpage it shows an image of 3 tacos for the price of $7.99. In reality it is only one taco for $7.99. Not only is that overly priced for one taco, the picture should show one taco if that's what is actually being sold for $7.99. I will try another location for Mexican food next time, as I value clarity in what I am ordering.

Chicken super burrito

First time going to the place across the street haha. We both got the super burrito. It was HUGE. So delectable. Also they have a salsa bar!!! Tried the mango salsa and avocado salsa. Also love that they have a student discount. Will definitely be back.

In a nutshell; pricey but expected downtown type priced decent Mexican food The atmosphere of the establishment does indeed exude its namesake. There's a Salsa station on the side for your chips that's usually accompanied by your order or dish, but for the price, I was hoping the salsa station also has a chips station you can just grab chips alike to similar other establishments. The order looked and tasted good but I'd say doesn't really match the price, but it's to be expected as I'm sure it's expensive to upkeep any business stationed in a downtown setting. Overall neat place but I'll probably lean to trying the other establishments nearby.

Street Taco Platter (served with chips and salsa & choice of 2 proteins), $13.99

From 2-5pm daily Cancun Sabor Mexicano has a happy hour deal: half off all alcohol and soft drinks with purchase of food. Whether or not you partake in said offer though, it's clear that the gentleman proprietor who mans the register enjoys serving up alcohol. It wasn't just the quaint bon mot served up with my Negra Modelo ($6.99) but the announcement of each Mojito being ready for pick-up. In what can only be described as an operatic voice, the lyrical pronouncement of yet another Mojito being ready for another diner is quite an entertaining hat trick. Cancun Sabor Mexicano though, while certainly not the best of Mexican fare to be found in Berkeley, doesn't really need hat tricks. I ordered up two Street Taco platters (4 tacos, choice of protein, $13.99) and found that flavor profile coupled with volume and ambiance proved thoroughly satisfying. Food facts first. Carne Asada is my go-to protein in places like this. Here it was a version less tasty than desired. The beef seemed to be cut from a center piece, with no char or dark edges. The beans and salsa did most of the heavy lifting and I'd not again choose carne asada as a protein here which is okay as the Al Pastor and Carnitas options were more tasty. The taco plates were served with pre-made chips (I prefer house-made) which were also improved by the array of fresh salsas (help yourself) from the salsa bar. The ambiance here is nice. not fancy-nice, but casually stylish and comfortable, with big wooden communal tables and smaller tables for smaller groups. The volume of eateries in this area leaves me jealous of those who live in Berkeley. Cancun, despite this, has endured here for many years. I won't be racing back but I left fully satisfied and could easily envision a return.

Love this Fresh Mex Restaurant! Enormous variety of salsas! Great food! A good place for date night, right in Downtown Berkeley

I got these items on the ToGoodToGo app and I was very delighted with my service, meal, and drink! I took this home and made my own burrito; it was fantastic.

Mango Ceviche

Known for their fresh ingredients and quality flavors, Cancun Sabor Mexicano (or mononymously known as Cancun) is one of the few more upscale Mexican restaurants in Berkeley. As soon as you enter, their wall gives a brief description about their food and touts their commitment to serving strictly non-GMO meals. Like many of their other customers, I'm a foodie who also tries to keep their figure, so I can appreciate this. My family ordered two ceviches, fajitas, and tacos to share, and everything turned out to be just enough. While the ceviches lacked flavor, everything else was pretty solid. Specifically, the Al pastor tacos were phenomenal, and I have zero complaints. One gripe I have with fajitas is that way too often, the meat will come out dry and overcooked: a result of too much contact with the hot skillet. Cancun's carne asada fajitas are a breath of fresh air: wonderfully seasoned and perfectly tender. If I'm in the mood for Mexican food, now I know my go-to spot!

Horchata was watered down. Refried beans were sour, watery and gross. Do not eat here. Pick any other Mexican restaurant in the area.

I started coming here because I ate their chips from the grocery store. I stayed because of the hand made giant tortillas.

I called them and they asked me to come back for a replacement. It took about five minutes, and they were very kind about it. They also gave me an agua fresca to make up for the short wait, which I really appreciated. Mistakes can happen anywhere, and what matters is how they're handled here...they take care of you. Recommended, will be back, and the food was great!…read more Sopes just might be my favorite Mexican dish, so I ordered the Sopes plate with carne asada, hot chocolate because it's been extremely chilly as of late, and a strawberry margarita. Hot and cold drinks together are the best of both worlds. It could be snowing outside and I'd still get a cold beverage. Love the clay mugs the hot chocolate came in. It kept hot while I focused on my marg. I thought I'd be able to body my plate because i was so hungry, but I ended up taking a sope home for leftovers, which was just as delicious the next day. Something really nice happened here. Apparently my margarita tasted too much like lime to who I assume is the owner, and he came by my table with another margarita on the house. That was thoughtful and something my friend and I really appreciated because who doesn't like a free drink? But seriously, it's the customer service behind serving something up to a standard that one feels confident in that really stood out. This looks like a popular spot. There were a couple people inside when I arrived, and several pick up orders. I love this area, or rather this small strip of restaurants and other stores along Solano Avenue.

I still feel that way, but recently I reserved a table for 4 and two things really stuck in my mind negatively after spending the evening there that wanted to alert the restaurant to. I worked in restaurants for 15 years so I know not every day is your best, and that getting things right is the first priority, not schmoozing, so this isn't about friendliness. The server was fine in terms of checking up on us, but didn't engage our request for recommendations for dinner or wine; no biggie, but when the check came she a) didn't mention that the tip was included, and my generous boyfriend (who wanted to snag the card and pay quickly without letting others get a chance) would have tipped another $80 had I not gotten up from the table and asked whether tip was included. On large checks the server should tell the group immediately not to worry about calculating the tip, and still act like she is earning it by taking good care of the table, refilling wine glasses when we ordered a bottle, etc. what really got me though was when we requested -- she didn't offer-- the remaining food on the table to go, she came with two piles of boxes and put them on the edge of the table. Again, my no-fuss boyfriend said he didn't mind packing the food up, but I think if you spend $450 on a dinner they could at least offer to neatly pack the food to go. It's a chore that I want to leave at home, plus it can be messy. It annoyed me a lot that the money we spent didn't seem to be appreciated and we had to basically clean up our table at the end. Not a good service night. Can you make it a policy to at least offer to pack the food? Comal isn't that type of pandemic restaurant that drops customer service in favor of pretend hygiene, and I just wonder if the standards are slipping or it was just a one off
