The chips were good, but the salsa was so runny and we ordered queso and again that was so runny. You really couldn't even keep either one of them on the chip. The entrées were very good and the portion size was big, but I feel they were overpriced. We had a coupon that we handed in when we paid only to find out that you couldn't use the coupon and the happy hour discount at the same time. Cute, family restaurant with friendly service. They accommodated our very large party quite nicely and super generous to our guests who were visiting from out of town. The staff were very hard working, friendly and kind. They took our orders very quickly, provided chips and salsa and gave us menus to review. There were a lot of options to choose from and a great amount of variety. I skeptically opted for the fish tacos, which were excellent. Tasty flavors bursted into dance in my mouth, as I enjoyed one bite after another. I never ate fish tacos before, im pretty sure this memory will stick for many moons to come. This chain is my default favorite Mexican food. My comfort food, as it were. It stems from going to dinner with my dad at the location next to Western Bowl. When I moved, this one was a little closer so I tried it out. It's a much larger feeling space than the other, and much brighter. Service is usually about as fast and organized, which means it depends on the day. I tend to prefer the food at this location for some reason. Though ordering delivery used to take a long time, it has gotten much more efficient. read more

This is the second location of Cancun I have been to. On the west side of town it's a good choice for 'American/Mexican' food; there is just enough of a touch of something authentic. I have ordered a chicken stew and been pleased with a flashback to my study abroad in Mexico, but the orders are large, there are often rice and beans, giganto basket of chips proceed your order (all very American to me). At least the cheese is white. That is one of my criteria in a Mexican restaurant here in the states. In Mexico I never had cheddar/orange cheese, ever. I don't think I even saw it in the store. Rather, there is a large variety of delicious white cheeses, some strong and others mild in taste (cotija, Oaxaca, etc.), that really complement the flavors in Mexican food well (and are SO much better than nasty cheddar). Ok, my philosophical objections aside, Cancun is good. This location is great; I much prefer it to the one attached to the bowling alley. Though it's in a strip mall, the decor is really awesome with carved, bright, painted tables with traditional themes, good music playing most of the time, and a friendly staff. It feels much more elegant, to me, than most strip mall restaurants. Items we regularly order include the chicken quesadilla, tortilla soup, pollo ranchero (chicken and veg with a red sauce), and I recently tried a tilapia dish. Really, it's all very good and quite affordable. This place doesn't always take me back to an evening in Queretaro, but it's actually a great choice for a Mexican food craving. Take a look at the menu...I suspect there are some hidden gems that are often overlooked for burritos, quesadillas, nachos, and fajitas. That's my new approach here...find the gems. In summary, I like the staff, love the decor, and the size and ambiance are just right for this joint. Definitely worth a visit. read more

This is my favorite cancun restaurant location! They recently renovated and more than doubled the size of seating available. The inside is very colorful with beautifully painted tables, chairs and booths imported from Mexico. Now let's talk food! I've been here many times over the past few years. Every meal I have ordered is super yummy. My absolute favorite dish is the flautas. Two tortillas with marinated chicken and peppers are lightly pan fried to perfection. Topped with shredded lettuce, sour cream and tomatoes. With a refried beans and rice on the side. Every meal dined in is accompanied by homemade salsa and chips. There salsa is very good and usually has a nice spicy level to it. If you love cheese I would also recommend getting a side of queso dip! The prices are right on for the portions you receive and the quality of food. I will def continue to come back again and again, year after year! read more

I often come for the margarita because the far superior taquerias and Mexican food truck don't offer this. With that said, the margarita here is textbook! We got the "monster" which is easily 32 oz. I've never had a bad or even a typical experience here. The seating is painted carved wood scenes of Mexican life, stories and heritage. Its absolutely beautiful! This really resonates with my inner artist and says a lot about the establishment. It's spacious, comfortable and great for kids which is my new norm these days. Sometimes, you just want some cheap but delicious Mexican food. Enter Cancun! This is not fancy Mexican, so don't go in expecting Nada. This is your basic, sit down Mexican spot. We've always been seated pretty quickly and brought a basket of chips and salsa without having to ask. The beer is reasonably priced and the margaritas are the perfect strength for the wifey. Service is quick and friendly. The food is good, not amazing but hits the spot when you want some standard Mexican fare. After going straight for the fajitas the first few times (which are good), I mixed it up and ordered the carnitas recently and it is my new go-to. Huge portions of delicious pork with all the fixings to make some tacos. I always leave with plenty of leftovers. Go in with the right expectations, and you will leave happy and satisfied. read more

The salsa was on 10 right out the gate & it's by far the best strawberry margaritas I've ever had! Marg had me so lit Ion even remember what I ate, but I remember it was slappin! We've been coming here for years. It used to be really good but not so much the last few years. We were here two weeks ago and the food and service were "off." We gave it another chance tonight. We were there with friends to celebrate their niece's 8th birthday. The food was just ok, along with the service but the last straw was when the server brought out my friend's niece's desert. The plate and the ice cream was crawling with ants! Live ants! We told the server and asked for the manager. The manager came over and we explained what happened. We also said since our food came from the same kitchen we weren't happy with that either. I mean ants don't just eat ice cream. He just kind of shrugged it off and brought us our checks. We will never go there again and I'll be calling the health department first thing Monday morning. read more

Well that was disappointing. I got the tamales and a taco. I should have been concerned when the taco was only meat and cheese, no veggies, and the meat was flavorless. The tamales were at best passable. There was WAY too much masa and too little beef. And the beef tended to be pretty dried out and tasteless. Probably because it was overwhelmed by the masa. One of my 3 tamales had 3" of masa at one end before I ever got to any meat, and the rest of the tamale had only half the meat it should have. If you think of a tamale like a Twinkie with the meat in the center, imagine half of that center being MORE masa, and that's how it was. And the mole sauce over it was pretty bland. The rice was pretty good, nice and fluffy. But the beans were horrible, watery and had a sharp acidic taste to them. And who's ever heard of a Mexican restaurant that doesn't put hot sauce on your table, or at least OFFER it to you? And for dessert, just because I've never had it, I ordered the flan to go....... but they didn't have any. *sigh* No flan for me tonight. :( One bright point, they use humongous cups for soda, must be 44oz. or more. And the wait staff could use a lesson in restaurant protocol and courtesy. They were very standoffish, did a poor job of checking on me unless my glass was almost empty. And they either couldn't tell I was finished, or didn't know to offer the check if I was. And when they brought the check they didn't indicate if you were to take it to the register or if they ran it for you. I think this probably has a lot to do with a limited knowledge of English and not wanting to embarrass themselves by trying and stumbling through it. So they just avoid the awkwardness and wait for you to call them over. I get that, I really do. But I think they need to learn its better to brave a little awkwardness and potentially learn more English that way, than to let your guests sit there feeling neglected or confused. Unfortunately, I think they value their macho and not looking awkward over learning better English and better table service by practicing. The decoration and such looked great. And they bring you a HUGE basket of warm tortilla chips while you wait for your order. And oddly enough, the salsa comes out in a small carafe that you then pour into a bowl at your leisure. I don't know why they do this unless its so each person can have their own bowl, but it was interesting. The salsa's very tasty, but could stand to be a great deal chunkier. A few seconds longer in the processor and the salsa would have been picante sauce. read more

Server we had was young female who was more interested in socializing with her friends at the bar than providing anything resembling good service to her tables. Food was acceptable but not great. Chips were stale and the salsa was more like taco sauce than real, fresh salsa. Biggest complaint was the service. No refills offered, and when a different server offered and brought us more chips, she then finally showed up and asked if we needed anything? No, we're good, no thanks to you. Disappointing. Hands down the worst service and food My wife and I ever had. taco bell is better. The food was nasty greasy, and my wife was given the wrong order ( she decided to eat it anyway so she did not have to wait another 20 minutes, and the flavor of hers was just burnt onions and chicken. My wife complained to the manager, and he did not seem to care, then had our waiter come over and asked him why my wife got the wrong food when we refused to pay. He knowingly gave her the wrong food and admitted it freely( I guess that's why he never came back to check on us through out the meal) After 20 minutes of complaining we agreed to pay the bill if they took off my wife's order. This is my 1st choice for cheap mexican food. It has your typical menu aka like every other chain mexican restaurant. Prices are cheap, service is always fast and there are is always a $5 off coupon available online. My favorite dishes here are the fajita taco salad and the steak burrito. This is one of our favorite spots when we visit Cincinnati -- we usually go at least once or twice during a trip. The food itself is fine -- your standard "fast food" style Mexican. Nothing too special. Same with the Margaritas... good, not amazing. But the real reason to go? THE FREAKING QUESO. I would just drink that shit straight if I could. It is SO DELICIOUS. I normally only stick to the same meal every time I go because it's so good that I don't want to try anything else.
