They are reopened and the new AC is wonderful! The Salsa is to die for The Shrimp Ceviche is the best I have ever found ( anywhere) I am generally not a Mx. food fan, but as Mr. Nelson says this place has "made a believer out of me"! The Shrimp Brocheta ( kebab) is my favorite dish. But the taco salad is a very close second. I have been several time with good size groups and have never had anyone say their dish was anything but wonderful. They have a very nice selection of imported sodas, and sweets as well. Today I was craving some spicy food. I usually have a seafood dish at Cancun, but decided to try something more spicy. I have a new favorite chili relleno in town. It came out steaming hot with a side of rice and beans and flour tortillas. Fantastic. Also ordered the guacamole appetizer and it looked and tasted well made with just the right texture. P2 had the tostados which were piled high will a beautiful mix of guacamole, lettuce, meat, and more goodness. She was quite happy as well. The owner took great care of us and made us feel welcome and helped when I need some suggestions. The salsas were actually rather tasty. The red had a lot of flavor and just enough picante to almost make me not need the hot stuff. But I always need the hot stuff and it added a great zing to the plate. I took some queso, chips and salsa home for snacking later. I highly recommend Cancun and I will be hitting this place weekly because it really hit all of my buttons. read more

Wanted to try another new (to us) Mexican place. When we walked in here, I realized I've actually been here once before a few years back. I don't remember much from when I went back then, but I just recognized the general layout. Speaking of layout and general atmosphere, the place isn't very big. Definitely a more hole-in-the-wall style. There aren't tons of tables but enough to serve who's in there. It's a bit crowded in terms of not a tons of walking space between tables (I think partly because the slightly odd shape of the building). It wasn't uncomfortable though. Yes, we were seated pretty close to the people at the table right beside us, but I didn't feel like it was a problem. I was worried about the salsa based on pictures I saw on Yelp, but it ended up being better than I expected. It did have quite a strong tomato sauce flavor and was pretty liquidy, but it also had more of a kick than I thought it would. I didn't ask for anything more spicy. The chips were somewhere between the super thin kind and the stale too thick kind. While I did see the chile verde in the menu (which is almost always my choice), others at the table ordered it so I figured I'd mix it up a bit. I ended up with the pollo a la diabla. It's described as chicken in a hot and spicy sauce, so I figured that seemed like something I'd like! It also came with a side of rice and beans. I thought it was all good. The sauce had almost a barbecue flavor to it. I didn't feel like it was extremely spicy, but there was a mild amount of heat there I guess (though to some it's probably plenty spicy, it's just hard for me to judge sometimes since I have such a high spice tolerance). I was also happy that there was a bit of sliced avocado on top. Yum! The rice and beans were good too, nothing necessarily memorable about them though, I just remember that they were good. Disappointed. I'm not sure what's going on, but this is the third time in the past month or so that I've tried to order from here. All three times the restaurant was closed without notice and no message was left for people calling to see whether the restaurant was open. I'm not sure if this closing is temporary or permanent, but it's unwelcome. read more

I've been worried that many of my favorite restaurants will not survive these trying times. I've already lost places I really enjoyed (Swamphouse) and lately have worried that other of my favorites may not survive. I stopped by Cancun today as they opened (11:00) and was the first in, greeted immediately. As usual both staff had masks on. Chips and my favorite salsa was brought to the table . I ordered my usual lunch special #10 and a mandarin Jarritos. The food was brought out promptly and was excellent as usual. I got refried beans this time instead of my usual charro beans. It is all good and I hope Cancun survives. They're too good to fade into the darkness. read more

I used to frequent this place when I was young, but neglected it when I moved back. Big mistake. The salsa & chips as elsewhere noted are near perfect as are the rice and beans, which is important. The enchiladas are solid for the basic Tex-Mex type style. I am a big fan of the chile verde and very happy they have a chile Colorado. They have both sit down and call-in right now; you can get the menu off their website. I've been getting quoted 10 minutes and it is always ready. read more

first, i like how the hostess/waitress kept it real when i first ordered the lobster enchiladas. she stated that they haven't served it in sometime b/c they only way they serve it, is fresh, not imitation. so with that being said, i went with the crab & man did i make the right decision. every bite just melted in my mouth. along with the rice & beans, that took it over the top. even before that came, the chips & salsa (alone) were incredible. i should've ordered a big thing of their salsa to take home, i might have to do that next time. in addition to what i had, a friend of mine ordered a super burrito & it's exactly what you'd imagine. i wasn't shocked when she took a little more than half of it to-go with her. read more

The food is always good, but the service needs work. An older woman seems to always work waiting tables when I'm there and I have never had a "Hello" or "Welcome" from her, nor have I seen her attempt to smile. She is rude and acts as if we're intruding on her time. No drink refills and no one checked on our table after food was delivered. There are simply too many good restaurants in Tulsa to go out of my way for such poor service. read more

As a native of California, a travel pro and being a large man that knows what I want......... it's easy for me to give Cancun a huge !Yelp shout out in hopes it draws in the crowds!! So to start this is a fairly small location so don't bring a party of 30. Probably won't be able to get that many in. However small groups will work or even just one or only you!!! It's a huge deal for me now as they recently started accepting plastic and not just cash. Big WIN!! on to the food!!!!! EAT IT!! Whatever you see on the menu. Try it. This use to be my favorite Mexican restaurant but recently when ordering a chicken enchilada dinner there couldn't have been more than a table spoon of shredded chicken across all of the enchiladas, this wasn't the 1st time either. Also, as another post mentioned is Clelia's behavior, it's borderline rude and she has a careless attitude toward most patrons like we are a burden she must endure. She should bring back her son who was always pleasant and friendly. Not far from Cancun is Rio Verde and they have excellent food, a friendly staff and very accommodating. Very solid place for enchiladas! I had the combo #1 for a late lunch (takeout): three enchiladas, one chicken, one cheese, one beef. The enchiladas were filling, tasty, and well-sauced (just the right amount), but I think some vegetables thrown in (an avocado? a tomato?) would be nice. People usually mess up refried beans, but I was pleasantly surprised by how well done they were. Not too thick, not too soupy. The prices are also reasonable, which is another plus. This was my first visit to this location but will not likely be my last. Upon arriving during the lunch hour it was easy to see that this is a popular spot. There were people in almost every single table except for the one that my small group needed. We were seated rather quickly and served some fresh chips and salsa. Now, I am going to talk about the food. First, their chips were nice and crisp and were not stale. The salsa has a fresh taste y pica un poquito. They will also bring you more if you run out. Second, I had to get the carnitas burrito and it was tasty. Aside from being a rather large burrito, the pork itself was very tender with a more than agreeable flavor for your palette. Their menu has quite a variety of dishes that would satisfy the desires of almost anyone looking for some delicious food. Finally, I am going to talk about the location, building and payment options. The place is located on a corner in a rather small building. If you are the claustrophobic type then this might not be the place for you. And the last thing, which is a negative in my book, is that they are a cash only business. So, be prepared if you go there for the first time and have cash with you. I love finding (thanks to yelp) little places hidden around Tulsa! The place is cozy and very homey feeling. We were greeted with our own salsa and chips! nom nom! I ordered the enchilladas- Sour Cream Chicken, Verde Chicken, and Shredded Beef. I liked the variety and they were very good. The beans were just ok, but I thought the enchilladas were quite good. My friend ordered the Carne Molida Burrito. I tried it and it was pretty good but nothing special, basically ground beef mixed with rice. I suppose this place gets 4 stars just cause it's a really welcoming fun little find, and the food is very good and wonderfully priced. It makes me happy! These were good tacos, but they weren't my favorite in Tulsa. The chips and salsa were really good, and our waiter was generous with refills of both. I got the chivo (goat), carnitas, lengua (beef tongue), and cabeza (beef cheek) tacos. Each was topped with iceberg lettuce and some shredded cheese. Each one was delicious and well-cooked, but for some reason, they weren't setting off my taco meter. I would still recommend this restaurant to people who want some tasty Mexican food. Best Mexican food in Tulsa. The salsa is awesome. The white queso is runny but so so so delicious. The main entrees are huge, delicious, and fresh. It is more expensive than most other Mexican restaurants in the area but totally worth it. We eat here about once a week due to addiction. read more

My wife had the 3-taco dinner, and enjoyed it, but she couldn't finish her portion, and had to take it home. Soda is free refills, but no free refills on the aqua frescas (Horchata). I live in the Kendall Whittier area and had been wanting to try this place. I was sure that the food would be good, but I was really blown away. We ordered flautas and enchiladas verdes and they were both stellar. The flautas were crispy, the enchiladas had perfect flavor and just the right amount of cheese. The meat in both was flavorful and excellently shredded. The beans are always a big thing for me and they were seasoned and had just the right amount of salt. Everything was delicious, especially topped off with a Mexican coke. The owners were also friendly, pickup was fast, and the inside of the restaurant was relaxed and clean. Get the Taco plate. Nothing else. If you want really f*ing phenomenal tacos go to Cancun. You can choose from several types, I typically get chivo, pastor, and chorizo. Three for $6.00! Now, I have been with other people who got enchiladas or fajitas, after I specifically told them "GET THE F*ING TACOS!" and they were disappointed with said enchilada and fajita. The couple who own and run this place are really sweet and have incredible social skills. I was talking to the woman about chorizo cooking methods and how the stuff I buy took forever to cook. She asked if I was buying it in the supermarket, which I was, and told me that what they sell in the grocery store is crap. She then began telling me of her weekly runs to Dallas (which I think someone else mentioned) and how you have to get fine quality chorizo or it will taste awful. I thanked her for the advice, then she brought out a to-go box (more than a pound!) of uncooked chorizo for me to take home and try...superb. Gracia Senorita. Go check it out and get the tacos. This is a gem of a Mexican restaurant located on Lewis Street just a couple blocks north of 11th (aka Route 66). The lady who owns and runs the restaurant is very friendly and has great recipes for her meals. This is a Mom type place and the food is of great quality, just like Madre makes. My wife and I have dined in and ordered take out on numerous occasions and we've never had a bad meal. The menu is extensive and includes meat, seafood, and vegetarian dishes. The first time I try a Mexican restaurant, I evaluate by trying their chili rellenos and Cancun's are excellent. You can get them stuffed with cheese, beef, or chicken and I like that they remove the majority of the seeds unlike many other places. Recently I had the chili verde chicken enchiladas and it was very enjoyable and includes rice and refried beans. They do not serve alcohol other than beer and they make a great michelada ( beer mixed with spicy clamato juice). Authentic!! That's what I think of when this places pops in my head or if basically anything to do with Mexican food pops into it also! I keep returning for the wet burritos but there is more than that! They've got quality cooking going on here and great customer service to boot. DON'T FORGET CASH - because that is all they accept here. I usually order pork but this last time I ordered steak in my burrito and holy poop that was delicious. They know how to make it right and don't play it off just by putting ground beef. If you don't want to eat in, they're quite quick in getting your to-go order ready for as soon as you arrive. This place is a little hole in the wall, but what a gem! The food here is probably the best mexican food in all of Tulsa! I really am a fan of Rio Verde as well, but Cancun seems to have become my favorite now! The carne asada tacos are fantastic and their rice and beans just as good! The family knows us by name, they're an awesome restaurant serving up killer home-style food. If you haven't been here you need to try. It's better than El Rio Verde, Calaveras, and any other Mexican restaurant with good Yelp reviews in Tulsa (they're great, this place is just better).
