I recently moved into a new place and was not happy with the level of security on my front door. I felt that the door was less secure, because 3/4 of it was covered by a window. I was afraid that someone could just break a panel in the window and then turn the lock and open my front door. I shopped around for a locksmith most of them quoting me outrageous prices I couldn't afford. I called two different locksmiths out to offer advice and quote me on how much the job would cost. The first one was a pudgy guy who was rude and told me it was going to cost me $500 for a high security lock and on top of that his labour. The second was creepy as hell and I was not comfortable having him replace my locks. Then I remembered my company (TD Bank) hired a locksmith to come in and do some work. That's when I called Scott at Canada Lock. He was polite, he sounded professional like he knew what he was doing, and he offered me sage advice on the phone. I told him my concerns with my front door, and he asked me to send a picture of the door and the current lock so that he could advise me of what he would do and how much it would cost. I sent him the pictures right away and was amazed at his rapid response and reasonable price. I decided to hire him. He came the very next day, in a uniform, and even provided me with his locksmith license (which he advised me was very important to check with any locksmith to make sure they were certified and bonded) I didn't know any of this. Right away this put my mind at ease, I knew I was in capable hands. He replaced the lock with a high grade lock (high security CX-5 deadbolt), and suggested I install window bars or replace the door entirely with a more solid built door. I am renting so the door replacement wasn't an option, but I asked my land lord if I could install window bars and after hearing Scott's recommendations on why this was essential to the security of the home, they said yes and paid for the window bars to be installed. What really struck me about Scott was that he went above and beyond what the job called for, he gave me other tips and tricks on how to deter thieves, he cleaned up after himself, and there was no gaudy leering that made me feel like a piece of meat (as a young woman living on my own, I really appreciated his professional attitude and how at ease he made me feel)! read more
