10/10 would recommend! My door handle and lock were not working properly, but they came the next day and fixed it very quickly. They first tried to fix the hardware I already had before installing a new one once it was clear the original was too broken. They even helped me with a closet door that was stuck. Reasonable price, too! read more

Great response time, professional service and the quote was accurate. Will definitely recommend to everyone!

This will be my new locksmiths in mind now. Well I always go to its competitor but then I have decide to look for a new one. I found Downtown. Their rating was good on Yelp and so I have decided to give it a try. Its located in the basement, which is hard to know that it exist unless you google or is told by someone or by Yelp, of course. So this one is close by to where I am located. I am looking for a store front Mortise Cyclinder Lock. Went in and got help right away. They had the Mortise Cyclinder lock on site and they rekeyed the Cyclinder lock and sold it to me for a very reasonable price. The locksmith was infact surprised how I know how to take the lock out. I also got the locksmith to rekey a 2 sided commercial key. He was honest and told me even him himself has no guarantee that the key will work because its one of those really difficult key to rekey. I like his honesty. Honesty is good. Downtown is very honest and very professional. They are my go to lock problem people Now. Thumbs up to them. read more

Colin from Downtown Lock "N" Key changed our locks after we had renovations completed. He attended on time, was very friendly and professional. It was evident that he cared about doing a good job. I had some issue with my front door lock, so I called my strata building manager for help and she gave me a phone number to lock masters, but they said they were not available until next week. I found Downtown Lock'n Key Ltd. through Yelp, and called, not expecting someone to show up in 10 minutes! The gentleman who helped me was very professional, skilled, efficient and kind. He fixed it in less than 20 minutes! Thank you so much! (I forgot to ask your name, but thank you so much for your service!) read more

I don't even remember how I found it, I think I was just walking along Yaletown- Mainland. A bit of dungeon style but its not an issue to find it. First service... Reasonable price... Perfect job... Again, for yaletown location and the price was very reasonable, and should locksmith services be needed in the future, we will not hesitate to go there again. read more

Excellent Serivce. My office always has their keys cut here - cheap and fast. Today we found ourselves locked out of one of the offices (thanks cleaner!) with no key. Called these people up, they sent out a guy really fast, and it was cheaper than the other quote I got. $100 for him to come out , unlocking the door, and 3 copies all done within 40 minutes. We are close by to them, but I'm still impressed Would definitely use again / recommend! read more

The key to the front door of my business wasn't working so I called the property management company to fix it. They referred us to locksmith that only had 3 stars so I felt better giving this place a call instead, since they had so many 5 star reviews. Colin and his colleague promptly showed up at my business after calling him. He was very nice, professional and quickly fixed the issue I was having. I highly recommend you calling these guys first. Thanks Yelp for helping me find this business. read more

If they make a movie about key makers, it's going to star this guy. This man knows keys. Period. I walk in, show him my key and he immediately starts giving me a rundown on its performance. Basically he was saying that if my key were an instrument, it would be slightly out of tune... He was spot on. A couple of times in the past my key seemed to "freeze" in the lock and I wasn't able to turn it. He told me to keep the original key as a copy template, but only use the 2 new key copies he made me for day to day locking and unlocking. In and out of his shop in 5 minutes and about 7 dollars for 2 new keys. The Key Master is real... and he works in downtown Vancouver. read more

Quick and professional service. Every key out of the 9 keys made works.

My client rented out her strata unit and the tenants had lost both of her mailbox keys. After trying both Canada Post and Strata, the concierge told us to call a locksmith. Looked these guys up and emailed them right away. I got a very prompt response from Colin, and after arranging a time with the new tenants, he confirmed his availability and was even a few minutes early for the appointment! Took less than 10 minutes to get a new lock and set of keys on the mailbox. Very friendly and responsive team! Prompt service and they definitely know what they are doing. I wouldn't hesitate to call them again. Thank you so much, Colin. You really made my week! read more

Great service, very responsive and very flexible. They responded to my initial call very quickly, and were very accommodating to meet our timing requirements. The technician called well before arriving to let me know when he would be there and completed the re-keying quickly. Good value for money and someone I would recommend to friends, family and Yelp searchers. read more

I've been meaning to have a key cut for ages but haven't gotten around to it... I stopped in to get a key cut and was impressed with how quickly and relatively inexpensive it was to get a key cut here. I actually ended up getting another one cut due to the price. I've had issues with other places after having a key cut and the key not working. But the key worked perfectly, it actually worked better than the original key in opening my door lock. read more

A little tricky to find...but fully stocked key shop, friendly guys...cut keys THAT WORK! And I could get there with my stroller...so that's as good as it gets in my books. You have to go through the doors into a lobby, and then through another set of doors to the back entrance to the building (turn right to go down stairs, left to go down the elevator) then follow the signs and you are there. Worth the effort to find, will definitely be going back. read more

Nestled in the basement of 1020 Mainland Street. Great location, quick and cheap.

We had to call these guys in to change our locks in the office last minute due to a security breach. They came in the same day, changed all of our locks and were able to issue us some keys that day. Great customer service, speedy and polite. Thank you for helping us take care of a situation before the weekend. read more

Getting broken into sucks. If dealing with the loss, the insurance company and the police isn't stressful enough, you also need to find a locksmith to fix your doors and locks too. When my closest go-to locksmith was too busy to fulfill my request (despite the fact that they said they had time for me that day) Downtown Lock'n Key came to the rescue. They reinforced the lock with a much more heavy-duty lock and handle within hours and all for a reasonable price. Will definitely use them again when necessary! Thanks guys. read more

Extremely quick to reply to my voicemail and to provide service - a very kind gentleman was at my door about an hour after speaking to me! He rekeyed my lock and provided me with a new set of keys within about 10 minutes! Very reasonable rates! Thanks for the peace of mind!! read more

Key copying was fast, affordable, easy, and friendly. What more could you want!! Definitely recommend this place.

I have an old Japanese car and I needed an additional key cut. I got a blank from Japan and went to this shop to get it cut. The gentleman there warned me that he's not very comfortable cutting a blank that he didn't know and that it might be finicky. I said I'll take my chances. Sure enough, the key didn't work. When I went back, instead of telling me "I warned you", he grabbed his tools, walked the two blocks to my car and spent 20 minutes filing and adjusting the key until it worked! No extra charge!! can't ask more for the $4 I paid to get the key cut! That's the kind of service that I would definitely pay extra for! read more

Absolutely fantastic! The door lock on our apartment gave out and wouldn't release my key...called this co and they were able to have someone on site and everything fixed within the hour. Great service, very professional, and reasonable rates...highly recommend this company. read more

Super fast and friendly service! They really seem to care about their customers and did not seem pushy in terms of trying to upsell you on something you do not need. Will definitely use them again! read more

Great people, incredible fast n accurate service. Copy a key for $2.95 in downtown. Copied keys work better than the original! I don't understand how. Thank you for the great service. read more

Quick, friendly service, located smack in the middle of Yaletown. The guy running what seems to be a one-man show was able to duplicate a key that Canadian Tire and Home Depot couldn't, less expensively and in a quarter of the time to boot. You can tell he has been doing this forever as he immediately looked at my original key, said "Well isn't that interesting," and was able to pin it as belonging to a cheap Asian knockoff of a Canadian lock, stamped with the incorrect size and requiring some special footwork to copy. I would definitely recommend him. read more

Had another locksmith try three times to copy a key - all unsuccessful. Downtown Lock 'n Key immediately diagnosed the problem as being a copy being made of a copy and managed to create the factory model - which works like a charm! read more

The lock on my front door had seized and I couldn't lock it properly. I gave Colin a call and he came round the same day to sort the problem out. Colin was professional and pleasant, got the job done very quickly (20 minutes!) and the price was right - all in all I'm very impressed! I would definitely use Downtown Lock 'n Key again and would recommend it to others. read more

Can't believe the SERVICE and HONESTY!!! Just called as I thought my front door lock was broken. The locksmith came all the way to my apartment and all that was needed was a little oil. The locksmith could have easily just upsold me into a new lock with all the bells and whistles but instead was honest. Wow! I didn't think that happened anymore! What a gentleman! Can't say enough nice things about this company - will DEFINATELY use them again and will RECOMMEND THEM TO EVERYONE (including my 82 year old grandmother)! Thank you!!! read more

Dread calling a locksmith. But these guys were great! Recommended.

Colin, the owner, installed my Schlage Home Sense door lock. It's an automated door lock that syncs with the iPhone. I wanted it done professionally. He quoted me $130. to do the job, which was much cheaper than other places that I received estimated quotes from. After it was all said and done, it cost me $125. + tax. He was also kind enough to make me two extra keys for free. I would highly recommend the services of Downtown Lock'n Key!!! If you want it done right, go to Downtown Lock'n Key! read more

I used Downtown's mobile service to re-key the doors on my house. I also wanted to discuss potential upgrades to my hardware, but the locksmith who attended the call expressed that the existing hardware was sturdy and there wasn't a need to improve anything. I appreciated their honesty in not trying to sell me something I didn't need. Prices for a mobile call were reasonable at ~$160 in labour and costs for 7 new keys. read more

I called in the morning and Downtown Lock n Key were at my house in East Van a few hours later and my broken lock was repaired.
