My review is for picking up a FedEx package from Zero PC…read more I originally had my package shipped to my address. I missed this delivery. I chose to have it delivered to a FexEx authorized pickup point on the same day, which ended up being at Zero PC. It's probably a good seven minutes away from my home. I drove here after work on a rainy Monday afternoon. I had no problem parking steps away from this business. It's in a plaza with a number of other businesses, from bubble tea, to a seafood business. I walked in an a friend man was working on a mid-tower computer. I had not seen one since I was a newly minted computer science graduate. I loved taking my mid-tower apart, and upgrading everything from the motherboard, to primary and secondary hard disk drives. It was nice to relive such memories. I don't miss the aggravation! I indicated that I had a FedEx package. He nodded and asked for my tracking number. I shared it with him. He then asked for my ID, so I provided my driver's licence. He was thorough checking that I was who I said I was. The last check was calling the phone number associated with my order. Sure enough, my cell phone rang and I showed it to him. I got my package. I thanked him and happily left the store with my goods. It was cool seeing a bunch of computer accessories. You can get corded and wireless mice. I heard that you now say mouses for more than one mouse for your computer or laptop, which sounds odd to me. It'll take a while to warm up to that standard. You can get practically anything here, from USB hubs, to headphones. It was nice stopping in a computer store to get my FedEx package. The man was nice and thorough, which I appreciated. (496)

I recommend Zero PC for anyone looking to have a computer built for them. They are true…read moreprofessionals, provide exceptional quality and have excellent customer service. I heard about Zero PC through a family friend when I inquired about having a gaming computer built for me. Although I must admit I was a little hesitant based on first impressions of both their website and very minimalist store appearance, I am extremely pleased that I did place my faith and trust in this store. The experience was extraordinary from start to finish. The store is very bare-bones, with shelves lining the walls filled with products and components. There are a couple of work tables and stations and there were two people in the store both times I visited. It isn't much to look at, but they work for function, quality, and the appearance of their products, not the fancy appearance of their store. The employee who assisted me was very well-versed in the computers they build and asked all the right questions to determine the computer that would best suit my needs. His name was Jackie, I feel it necessary to commend him on his service, as it is one I will fondly remember. He was fantastic, super understanding, patient and knowledgable. He explained the differences between the available motherboards and graphics cards, how different forms of storage function, and what hardware would work best to achieve my end goal. There are a dozen different standard builds that they offer, all of which cater to a different level of both gaming power and aesthetics. They offered to switch or upgrade individual parts based on my needs, along with a range of cases. If they don't have something you want, they will order it for you. Let me also mention that the pricing is unbelievable. When I searched for each component to build the computer I chose. To build the same rig myself: assume I would order from a slew of different online retailers to obtain the lowest prices, also assume I would be willing to wait up to a month for each part to be delivered, finally that I would somehow YouTube enough build tutorials to correctly assemble the computer, the consistent price difference between the components and the offered store price was roughly $50 for the three different builds I considered. It took 3 days for the computer to be built and I received a phone call when it was ready to be picked up. Upon arriving at the store it was explained that the basic case was unavailable, so they upgraded it for free. The case is super cool with magnetic dust collecting panels on the top and front of the case which makes it easy to clean. The one side is glass and exposes the neat cable management and the base model LED lights of the internals. I wasn't interested in LED lights but the soft red glow is definitely a bonus. They took the time to plug in and start the computer in front of me (seconds for the start time, an amazing upgrade from the 1 minute my old PC took!) and showed the specs, along with a few programs they installed themselves to make my life easier which they asked me about when I ordered the computer. All the original boxes and warranty information was also provided. I was told if there were ever any problems to contact them and they will immediately assist and fix whatever the problem is. The customer service was exceptional, the experience was simple and pleasant, and I received an amazing computer. I was so happy I chose this place and absolutely recommend it for anyone looking for a computer but don't have the knowledge, patience or time to build one themselves. Thank you Zero PC, and thank you Jackie and to the hardworking team!

Its odd to see 20, 5 stars reviews thinking to myself what kind of experience is really going on? Here was mine. Starting with the kicker. I actually DO THIS type of work but i was extremely busy at the time and sent my wife. First Text. Asking about prices. No response. Call. Asked about prices and guarantees. Quotes one price at around 120. Take the laptop in person. Sent my wife because i was busy. Relying on this one man. Sees she have a workstation laptop, raises the hell outta the price to 200. Since I sent my wife and she handed it over oblivious. She comes back says it was 200 to resolder a freaking pin? Let me tell you it will take this man 5 mins to finish this task if hes good. 15 if he takes his time. The parts are literally in the dollar amount. Talking about 15 dollars tops and that's generous. Whats actually wrong with Toronto is people like him taking advantage of young people, college students, older people, and non tech savvy people like my wife. This guy absolutely, unequivocally, ripped me and my wife off. Here i am a year later writing this while taking her same laptop for guess what? Repair. Goodluck!

You have come to the right place! I am an indie filmmaker and I also work as a teacher with kids and teens helping them learn how to make films. In this case, I was tasked with doing some final edits of their work on behalf of the school, for their final screening. The unthinkable happened a week before the screening--my external 2 TB hard drive crashed. It's one thing for my project to go up in smoke, but the thought of letting down the kids was a nightmare..I had actual nightmares about what I was going to have to tell them. I also desperately wondered about which place to turn to. Most big computer repair places take far too long to quote and start the job and often outsource the repair work itself and are swamped, so you know they're not likely to get to repairing the drive the same day you drop it off--which was my only hope! Contemporary Computers quoted me immediately, gave me a fair price point and were honest in suggesting it might take awhile to recover the drive considering most of the files were .mov files, (large) and some prorez files (very large). They understood the urgency of the situation and started work immediately, and worked longer hours than they originally quoted but still held to the original quote. (How awesome is that?! Actual humanity!) With their skill and understanding of my plight, my entire drive was recovered in 3 days, allowing me to make my deadline. 3 days including drop off and pickup! They literally saved the show and the kids got to see their hard work and their families were not disappointed. I honestly believe if I hadn't approached Contemporary Computers and instead went with a big corporate repair chain that it wouldn't have been recovered in such a timely manner. So take note film industry editors, directors, producers and actors and everyone else! This is where you want to take your repair problems!!

EDIT: Since writing this review, I was contacted by the owner and sent an $84.75 cheque in the mail…read moreto make up for the service fee. After doing quite a bit of research on where I should go to have my laptop's hinges and backing fixed, I decided on this place - Contemporary Computers. It had great reviews, and they said my laptop would be ready in 3 days at the cost of no more than $130 when I called in. Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience here at all. Instead of having the laptop fixed in the three day period, it was "assessed" in two. What they had to assess when the top half of the laptop was clearly falling apart, I'm not sure, but I let it go. I spoke to them again, and they told me that the total cost would be $275. A lot higher than I had anticipated, but I'm a university student whose notes are all online, so I needed the laptop and said the price was fine. Again, I asked how long the repairs would take, now that they knew what had to be fixed. I was told 3 days. Once two business days were up, I called in to make sure that I would be able to pick up my laptop on time, since I hadn't heard from them yet. It was then that I was told that the parts they needed for the repairs wouldn't be in for another three days. That's when I got annoyed. Not only was I not able to download any notes, I had some work to do for an internship, which was due on the day the parts would come in. They did offer a loan laptop - at $9-$11 a day. However, the trip there and back would take an hour and a half and would cost me $6 in subway fees. As a student, I wasn't willing to pay any extra costs, especially when they gave me false information. Three days later, I get the call to come in and pick up my laptop. The total cost - $300 before taxes. When I went in to pick it up, I asked about the price mix-up, but all I got was a "Sorry that you were misquoted." I ended up paying $339 and waiting for 2 weeks. Definitely NOT what I was told the two times I called in. As for the laptop itself: It's not even the same backing. The broken one was flat and black. The new on is blue and bulky. When I did a check to make sure every thing was working (something I HIGHLY suggest doing before you leave the store) my webcam wasn't working. So they had to spend some time fixing that once my laptop was already supposed to be repaired. When I brought up all of these things, they didn't seem to think there were any problems with their service. The colour was just an aesthetic thing, the misquoting was unfortunate, and hey, they did offer me a loan laptop, but I didn't want it, so it was my own fault that I had to start my work from scratch. I was given a "consolation prize" for my patience; a stainless steel water bottle with their logo on it. To say the least, I will not be going back here, and the only suggestions about this place that I will give will be to avoid it.
