Hake with asparagus, fennel shavings and caviar

Can Treso is located on the corner of Asturies and Travessia de Sant Antoni in Gracia. It is a great spot for coffee and conversation and its tables are always full. The success of this restaurant is because of the people who work there. Always pleasant, ready to help, and good humored and amazing chef! The other reason they are a success is their divine food. We go for their menu del dia as often as we can. I had a cherry and avocado salad (scrumptious) as the starter. My husband had a butternut squash omelet with romesco sauce (to die for). My second was hake with a caviar dressing decorated with shavings of fennel -- divinely crisp skin on the hake and the sauce -- creamy goodness but very, very light. My husband had the young squid with new peas. The squid melted in your mouth. To finish it off - Carrot cake (but not American style) a small square with a caramel like topping and a drizzle of mango. Just the right accent to this perfectly sweet dessert. We would have had their coffee, which is the best -- but our siesta awaited us! Oh and they have their menu in 4 languages to help the out of town guests without using a translation app -- always a plus. Can't wait to go again.

Great food at great price! This place is located near my hostal so I decided to check it out when I first arrived, then returned once again right before I leave. The staff members speak some English and were helpful. The croquette, tempura, and the foie are great starters. They also have cheese and ham plates. The baccalau is always good as an entree. It is just off the Fontana station on L3 line. Exit the station, turn left from Carrer d'Asturies and there it is.

A table over had ordered the spinach with ham that another reviewer had described and I'd wished I had room for it.

We were lucky to find this place which was a few minutes from our hotel. On the website, it said…read more"online reservation made before 8 pm gets 30% off." So we went! We were led to the dining room upstairs. The menu has English descriptions beneath each dish. We ordered 10 dishes: Pan Con Tomate (bread with tomato and tomato sauce), Patatas Bravas (Spanish potatoes; not greasy, very tasty), Albondigas de la Yaya (meatballs with tomato sauce; very tender meat), Calamares a la Andaluza (fried squid; nicely cooked and not rubbery, like them alot), Bastoncitos de Pollo (homemade chicken nuggets with BB sauce; crispy and tender, tasty BB sauce), Empanada Compesina (not too crazy about this one), Empanada Picante (spicy meat; it is okay), Spaghetti Carbonara (very soft, lots of sauce; nice dish), Yakimeshi (rice with squid and shrimp; my favorite!), and Macareno (hamburger, doble cheese, lettuce, tomato, bacon, and fried egg; very juicy, mouth watering and very American hamburger!) Water is a very pricey item in Europe. We ordered three bottles of water at 2.30 EUR or 2.60 USD each. We did get 30% off our bill! The server was friendly, patient, polite, and very warm. The dishes were reasonably priced. We had a wonderful dining experience at this place. Highly recommended if you visit the area.
