Amazing food & staff. Very helpful with menu suggestions, with guidance on taste preferences, portions and flavor combinations. Everything was delicious. I debated on sharing my dessert experience, because some might find it hard to believe. The frozen crème fraiche with olive oil and sea salt literally brought tears to my eyes. DON'T leave without having it!

I will be thinking about this dinner for a long time! On a recent trip to Barcelona, this was my favorite meal by far -- above and beyond some too-fancy two-Michelin-starred places. Everything about the experience at Berbena is warm and welcoming: from the handwritten reservation list and the invitation to choose your table, to the discussion with the staff to help select the perfect glass or bottle of wine. We loved the opportunity to sit and watch the team at one of two chef's counters, as they all clearly enjoyed their work and the pursuit of culinary delights for their guests. Dish after dish, we were blown away by the quality of the ingredients and the nuanced flavor and texture combinations. While many of the dishes cycle off the menu quickly due to seasonality, the crème fraiche ice cream is likely a staple -- get it, even if you're full to the gills.

10/10, no notes. Our experience tonight was unbelievable from start to finish. The ambiance, vibes, staff, and food were all top tier. Set the bar pretty high as our first dinner in Barcelona. If you can get a reservation, highly recommend scooping it up!

Berbena is a popular spot for modern Catalan cuisine in Barcelona, and it was one of the most enjoyable night out we had! There were only a handful of tables with less than 20 diners in total, a reservation in advance is required. We started our meal with hearty chunks of homemade sourdough bread smeared with smoked butter and side of pork neck. Amazing! Up next was a mix of small plates that changes seasonally: fried artichoke, the ox tail gyoza with broth was heavenly, as for the main dishes, we ordered the beef tongue and the pork belly with lemon to an omelette of wild mushrooms with chad and jus. Both rich, tender and full of flavors. The cheese selection is impressive, as is the selection of small-production wines from local vineyards. There was wine list, but Chef Carlos actually spoke to each table to understand their palate and preference to recommend the right bottle. We ended up taking a bottle to go to try after our dinner. Amazing experience! We love every moment of our night out with great cozy atmosphere, lovely food and genuine service.

This wasn't just the best meal I had in Barcelona, it's one of the best meals I've ever had. The chefs come out and speak to you at the tables so your servers are also the ones preparing the food. The menu was adventurous but familiar. The wine selection was incredible and the atmosphere was so cozy and elevated at the same time. I wish I could eat here every night.

This review is long overdue. We visited Barcelona in September of 2022. Berbena was a restaurant that I made reservations for months in advance, It's a very intimate restaurant, seating very few. The reviews were fantastic, and we were so excited to have the privilege to dine at Berbena. Chef Carles greeted us kindly upon entering his restaurant. From the moment we were seated until the moment we left, we enjoyed ourselves. The food was so delicious. The ingredients combined just made me want to shut my eyes and enjoy every bite. The service and staff made us feel like special guests. Spain was a trip of a lifetime, and Berbena will always be part of that magical experience.

One of our favorite restaurants during our trip to Barcelona. Reservations a must as only two sittings 715 and 945 pm on weekdays. Intimate, open kitchen restaurant. Waitstaff very helpful and friendly with good suggestions about options and quantity. Loved all our starters, main dishes, and desserts. Would love to visit again!

This is as much a labor of love that I've ever seen. They do it because food is their life, and it shows. We tried 8 or nine things, and it was all amazing. Trust their suggestions, on both food and wine. I will be back. For sure.

Part of me doesn't want to let anybody else know about this awesome little place in the Gracia district of Barcelona. I don't want it to be harder to get into next time I'm there. But, Carlos (owner/chef) has too much of a good thing here not to recognize it on Yelp. We've dined here twice in the month of September (lucky enough to have 2 Barcelona work trips in the same month) and both times were amazing experiences. Our first visit was on a Monday night and we didn't have a reservation. Fortunately, Carlos made room for us at the counter between the tiny dining room and the even tinier kitchen area. It ended up being like a chef's table experience. We were able to watch the kitchen team (Carlos and 2 helpers) prep, cook and plate everything. The attention to detail was so impressive. Carlos's passion for food and cooking was evident in every move he made. He's an artist. Example. We started out telling Carlos we wanted a bottle of Rioja. He said he unfortunately didn't have any at the moment because he was waiting for "the perfect Rioja" that he'd recently tasted to be available. He recommended an alternative that was fantastic. He told us it was the first night in awhile that they were serving the famous Spanish tomato bread because the tomatoes were finally good enough for him to be comfortable serving. Most every other place we'd been had the bread--because they just used whatever tomatoes they could find. There are no English language menus, but Carlos happily walked through each item explaining what it was. It was like an artist describing each of his paintings. Each dish was creative and ultimately--delicious. Both times, we told him to just bring us the things he thought we would enjoy--so two personal Chef's menu opportunities. I won't go into detail about any specific dishes as he changes things depending on what ingredients he can get. Just know that everything we had on both visits was remarkable. Oh...if he has the lamb brain, get it. Amazing. Finally, Berbena is located in the Gracia district and is very close to some great local bars. Old Fashioned Gin & Tonic bar is one we fell in love with (will review separately). It's a 10 minute walk away. That whole part of town is an excellent place to eat and drink.

Don't hesitate, put your name down and you'll soon be seated. Menus are available in Spanish, Catalan and English and the staff speaks fluent English. Followed this with the traditional potato omelette, grilled octopus, and shrimp skewers. All the food was fresh and delicious. Portions are decent so we had to skip dessert. I was told by a fellow patron that their French toast is very good. Well, next time!

My husband and I split everything to each be able to get a taste. We're not 100% sure the exact names of what we ordered, but everything was good. The cappuccinos were awesome and exactly what we needed for a long day of walking. The pastries were even better! One was cheese and chocolate, and the other cheese and jam. The empanadas were also great- we had one pollo and one carne. The carne was especially good! The sandwich- Jamon, tomate y huevo, was good, but I think my husband liked it more than I did. Overall I definitely recommend this spot for a great bite!

They're light, buttery, and filled with just the right amount of cream, truly irresistible. And if you're a chocolate lover, their chocolate version is equally divine (you might just need to get both, trust me). But my absolute favorite treat here is the pan dulce con manzana. The buttery layers, the delicate apple slices caramelized just right, and the subtle sweetness make it the perfect pastry. Pair it with a strong espresso and you've got the ideal way to start your morning in Barcelona. The best part? You don't have to stop at breakfast. I always recommend grabbing one of their fresh bocadillos en pan casero to enjoy later in the day, or picking up one of their panes artesanos to savor at home, simple, rustic, and delicious even on their own. Forn Puiggròs isn't just a bakery, it's a ritual. Go in the morning, enjoy something sweet with your coffee, and leave with bread that will make the rest of your day even better.
