While this is a review of a company called Campus Connections Property Management, it is more a review of an incredible woman employed by the company by the name of Charlie Durrant, We met Charlie over the phone 4+ years ago when we were venturing out to Eugene to go to the Olympic Trials.
Our son, a collegiate track and field athlete, knew a couple of Olympic hopefuls who were going to be participating in the trials and we decided that we would make a "trip" out of it. With flight arrangements made, all we needed was a place to stay.,, easier said than done, We were not really familiar with the Eugene area and did not know that there was real lack of convenient places to stay near the facility... hotel, motels, etc.
After a number of calls to area places, that were either sold out or very far away, I decided to call the university and see if they had any recommendations. While they did not offer many solutions, they did direct me to Campus Connections to see if they had any ideas. So, I called and Charlie picked up the phone and, as soon as we started talking, I could tell that, while this was a highly unusual request, she was someone who cared about our dilemma and would try and help to the best of her ability.
Needless to say, Charlie's efforts on our behalf (for folks she had never met face to face) were extraordinary. To try and keep an already long story shorter, Charlie found us a "campus housing" residence so close to the track, the athletes were jealous... literally the first house outside the facility perimeter. The house had been occupied by students who were going home for the summer and they had left just a few days before we were to stay there. Of course, the students took all of their furniture (and everything else) with them leaving the house completely empty.
This is where the magic of Charlie blew our minds! Charlie made sure the house was presentable, had gone out and rounded up beds, etc. for each of the four bedrooms, furniture (including a TV with Cable/WiFi hooked up) for the living room and a kitchen table and chairs (with all the needed appliances) and a table and chairs on the deck off the back of the house... UNBELIEVABLE!!!
We were completely overwhelmed and so appreciative of everything she had done for us, that our trip and time spent in Eugene was amazing, all due to her efforts and ability to listen and understand what we were going through. Charlie is a woman of her word and has a heart of gold.
This story would be an incredible tribute to her character on it's own, if this was where it ended... but, four years later, we did it again in early July. When we were leaving four years ago, Charlie said that if we wanted the house for the next trials, it was ours... and, sure enough, we did and did. When the announcement was made that the trials would again be held in Eugene, Charlie emailed to pass along the good news and confirmed that her word was her word and that the house was ours if we wanted it. Charlie did even more to make us more comfortable this time and seeing her when we arrived was like visiting a good friend who just lives far away.
This time, one of our son's three friends made it on the team and, we would be at the games now, except Charlie doesn't work in Rio!
Simply put, if you ever need someone to assist you or a student with housing needs in Eugene, Oregon... I can't imagine that there is a better person to work with than Charlie at Campus Connections! read more
