I removed a 2 star review because of the follow through in Roanoke Virginia Communication skills after sale was a huge disappointment to us and still is. However, Jack pulled through above his conversation with us to make us happy and ensure everything was at a customer satisfaction level. He checked to ensure appliances were all working. Cleaning was very very good. l will apologize for being rude after 2 weeks of failure to update us. Please understand, most people will be more patient if unknown circumstances are explained to them. We had originally went to a competitor in a search for a good travel trailer and when they kept us waiting, failed to pull the deposit we were to put up, and dragged their feet getting us up and out the door with a camper, we decided to give Camping World a chance. We were not disappointed... Sam is THE go-to salesman. If you go - he is the one to see. We told him what we were looking for and he pulled up his inventory and found six potential campers for us to see. He knew his products and he delivered on what he was selling. For someone who just started out about 18 months ago in the sales department, he had come a long way - having sold over 100 units in 2025. Most of all, he followed through and was patient as we deliberated as to which one we wanted to buy. Jacob, the sales manager, was very professional and was on the same page with Sam and took great care of us. No promises were made that were not followed through. I cannot tell you how well this process went. We got everything we wanted and purchased a newer camper than we figured we would get. The whole experience was way over and above what we expected. After a couple of weeks and no offers they asked if we wanted to reduce our price, which we did, 3 times. I just sold for $1400 less than payoff. The person we worked with was not very responsive to phone calls, some times taking 24 hours to get back to us. I arrived well after they closed and departed well before they opened. Camping World tolerates RV parking in their lot overnight and I felt secure as there were a couple of other Class B's and one huge Class A sharing the well lit space with me. Don't know anything about prices or service or even how well their wifi works. But the overnight parking? Good! When I need stuff for the RV, I will be sure to give them a shot. I went to Roanoke VA camping world. nov.12. I put 500 deposit to hold the rv I wanted until I could come back Monday Nov 17 to sign papers. I was told by finance manager mr. Gibbs that they had not sent through my transaction deposit on sat. Nov 15, 2025. HE LIED/ Today Nov. 16, I called my bank and camping world took my money without my authorization and without telling me from my checking account/ I did not authorize them to take any money out of my account. LIARS, SCAMMERS, TOXIC and ROTTEN customer service here. We purchased an RV from Camping World in Thornburg, Virginia on April 29, 2023 for $77,132.50 CASH. We were never told there was still a lien against the vehicle. Instead, we were told directly by Michelle Hyman that the title was free and clear and that we would receive it within a week. After completing the paperwork and leaving with the vehicle, I called Connie Tuite a week later to inquire about the title. She informed me that the document was in another office and that she would mail it to me the following day. After another week went by and I had not received it, I called and talked to Michelle Hyman, who told me that the reason the title hadn't been mailed to me was because there was a lien against the vehicle. Gravely concerned as I was blatantly lied to by the very same person about the status of the title, I called Connie Tuite and informed her that sales associate Michelle stated that there was a lien against the vehicle and so no title would be forthcoming to me. Connie said blatantly that "Michelle is full of shit and doesn't know what she's talking about," taking a strong stance against her co-worker, and insisted she was just delayed in her work and would get the title to me "soon." However, during a follow-up call, Connie then begrudgingly admitted that there was indeed a lien against the vehicle. Camping World used our funds to payoff the lien about a week or ten days after the sale, without ever telling us anything about this situation. After finally admitting the truth, Connie indicated that she would overnight a plate and registration to me while I waited for the previous owner's bank to release the lien, at which time Connie indicated that she would have the title sent to me. After several promises regarding communication about this issue were broken, I called and talked to Keith, a sales manager. I explained the situation to him and how concerned I was about the behavior of Camping World employees. I asked specifically to speak to the General Manager of the dealer, Gavin Lutz. Keith told me that Gavin was on vacation, but that he guaranteed that he would have Gavin call me as soon as he was back. That call never happened and as of today, August 18, I have never been contacted by the responsible party for this dealership. Months went by with no communication from Camping World. Co-owner of this vehicle called Connie Tuite on August 16. I monitored this call. Connie became irate when Jackie informed her that Camping World had not followed through on its legal obligations to us. Connie insisted that she had titled the vehicle properly in the name of someone named "Joe," even asking Jackie if that is her husband. We have no idea who this person is. As Jackie was trying to clarify Connie's position that her responsibilities were done, Connie hung up abruptly on Jackie. I immediately called and asked to speak to Gavin Lutz, but was told he was not available and so again was put on the phone with Keith, the sales manager. When I informed Keith that we were preparing to file various complaints on this issue, he flatly stated that if we filed complaints or took any negative action against them that they would cease all communications with us. He then again guaranteed me that he would have Gavin return my call on August 17. That call never happened. I would have never purchased any vehicle without a clear title. Camping World representatives lied about this, tried to cover up the issue, have changed the dates of the sale, and have violated the 30-day timeframe in which they are required to provide proper documentation. It has now been approximately 4 months and we do not have a title for this vehicle despite being assured of a clean title and paying $77k cash. DISGUSTING, this business needs criminal charges and to be shut down. read more

This review is due to an awful experience with this company. When trying to buy a fifth wheel, went to look at the camper and water was leaking from the roof. I would have been ok with this except the first RV they tried to sell us had a floor that was defective. When confronted they said this was normal but, it wasn't. We decided to return everything we had purchased(we paid cash for items). The place would not give us our cash back but, instead gift cards to their store. When we didn't want the gift cards, they said that's all they could do. Camping world will never have our business again because we paid for items with cash and expect cash back, not some worthless gift card to a place we will never come back to. If I could give a ZERO I would. My wife and I purchased an RV from Camping World Roanoke VA in February of 2022. Things went well during the purchase process. The major problem has been with getting the title for the purchased RV. They took the plates off the trade in and put them on the new RV. Those plates expired in March 2022. Since then it been a huge F-ing problem getting the new RV titled. I personally went to the store and raised holy hell and at least received a temporary plate so I could travel to New York for a job assignment. That plate expires on June 26, 2022 leaving me stranded in New York with no way to get back home to Virginia. I have been calling Camping World every 2-3 dates and they're DITCHING MY CALLS. The worst place to go for RV service. I would give zero stars if that was an option. We had more damage to our unit when we went to pick it up the first time following a repair. Asked them to fix those damages. When we were told it was ready, we went to pick it up again and there were more damages to our unit. The service rep and manager both claimed they did not cause the additional damages and refused to take ownership of the work their technicians did. They offered to give us another estimate to repair the damages. I will not pay them for any work caused by their negligence and to result in more damages. They were supposed to sell our RV and instead kept it for 2 months and didn't even list it, they did nothing! Then they tried to convince me to do work on it that had already been done. It is still supposed to be under warranty but now suddenly want me to pay them to do the "diagnostic" at unbearable prices and then "maybe the warranted will pay you back"! My husband and I went in to consider the trade in and purchase of a new toy hauler. We went through the process on one camper and didn't accept the terms. We tried again on a different camper and negotiated terms we were willing to go for. We came back with our trade in camper, and they kept us waiting for 3 hours while the service department did an "assessment" that returned $4K of "damage" on our 2015 good condition camper. They then tried to renegotiate that we pay $2K more to buy the new camper. We took our deposit check and left. Of the $4K of damage they cited, half were disclosed to them prior to them making their "offer" sight unseen. The other half included charges for a wrinkle in the wallpaper, dust in the A/C that was serviced at the beginning of summer, repacking wheel bearings and other such trivia. For me, this felt like a bait and switch situation. They reel you in making promises they never intended to keep. If they were going to re-negotiate, then give a range of trade in value or don't make an offer until they see the trade in unit would be a much better plan. As it was, we left disgruntled and determined not to do business with this store again. read more

I just made a service appointment with Gander. The service rep was actually rude. He scheduled me two months out but somehow the appointment got lost. Do not buy from them I had brown water in both of my black tanks half full gray tanks black color water in my fresh water tank. Both tolits had pee all over them their was chalk on the wall they said was permanent it came off with a wet rag. They put a screw driver through the tv then took 3 months to replace it. Also they were suppose to replace the roof but they barely covered the screws with caulk. Their workmanship is below industrial standards. read more

AVOID USING THEM AT ALL COSTS!! The service department is horrible. The service gentleman lied to our faces about the repairs, saying they were done and they weren't. Then claimed there was no water leak, when the floor was clearly already mushy to the pressure of my finger. When I asked to have everything in writing, I get ignored. Another time a different service man completely left to get lunch and never finished out my ticket or gave me my keys back. I stood around for an hour before getting them back. Also, while i he camper was on their lot it was side swiped and ripped a running light off, left scratches and a dent. Doubt they will ever fix that. I should of known when we bought the camper from them how horrible everything else was going to be, because that was also a terrible experience. read more

I will be reporting this company to the Better Business Bureau. It is apparent that Gander's customer service is only reserved for customers purchasing an RV. Once purchased, it all goes downhill. 1. Told the sales rep that we will purchase and request delivery the same day. When we returned to sign the papers he said he misspoke as the term "delivery" meant delivery of the paperwork, as if ANYONE outside of this business has the camping world new age dictionary! needless to say, it was not delivered as expected. 2. The agreement was that Gander would hold the RV until we could schedule another delivery date. Called several times, was transferred to voicemails (messages left) and other times, spoke with a rep but never got a follow up call to schedule a delivery. Finally spoke with a manager who guaranteed delivery. We wanted a ladder install which the service rep stated all would be done and delivery would be on time. BAD MISTAKE! 3. The day has come for delivery and the 2:30 delivery window has come and gone. around 3:30 pm, we were informed that the ladder installation will take hours ( according to the service rep) so we have to wait even longer. Called them for a part and was told 8 were in stock. Drove over an hour to pick up the part. After almost an hour wait with their parts department, I was told they didn't have the part. I saw a similar part on display while waiting but when I inquired about it as a last resort it had been miraculously sold. The staff seemed to enjoy my predicament. read more

I needed a dump valve replaced and didn't have time to do it myself. Took it here so it would be fixed for an upcoming trip. When I picked it up all looked ok but after traveling a couple of days I notice that the valves are leaking. When we finally get to the RV park where we are staying I get a resident repair guy to help me with the repair. We find out that they overtightened the bolts, cracking the plastic flanges on the pipe. In addition the black dump valve was missing one of the gaskets. When I called the service manager to complain his only solution was to pack up and drive 40+ miles to the nearest Camping World and have them fix it. Diesel fuel alone would have been half of what it cost me to get it fixed correctly. read more

We bought our travel trailer in Chesapeake Virginia in August of 2019. Not a cheap unit but a step down from their most expensive unit! We love our camper but the service sucks at this location! We thought we would bring our unit in during the off season, January and figured it would take a couple months to work out a couple of issues but here we are at the end of March and they still do not have it ready! To say I'm upset is an understatement! This is totally unacceptable! So if you buy a camper, check out the service department first or you may be in the same boat as us! I find it ironic that all of the "recommended" reviews for this place are 5 stars, even though almost all of them say that they had to wait longer than expected for their campers to be serviced. I can only think that camping folk are an eternally optimistic and forgiving sort of human beings! ALL of the reviews that are not 5 stars are stored under the "not recommended" reviews here on Yelp. Hmmm...well, I'll add this to the batch and hope it isn't immediately buried. We bought our tiny Coleman camper here back in 2013 with a fairly smooth sales experience. But there's where the good times came to a screeching halt. Every single service interaction we've had with them since then has been abysmal. The first year we had the camper, we went there simply because we didn't know anywhere else to go. But after a number of bad experiences (and NO response from management on our complaints) we quit going there for a couple of years....until today. Today we went for a simple sales inspection: a simple 3 minute process. They wouldn't take an appointment and told us to bring in the camper any way. He said he might have to wait, but didn't sound like it would cause undue stress for their service team. I should have remembered how unorganized they were when I saw the line in front of the service department. About 7 angry, frustrated guys were trying to vie for the only service cashier's attention while their wives were happily spending money on camping gadgets in the store. One guys said they told him his parts would be in 2 months ago and wanted to go camping this Wednesday. Another fellow complained that the part that they had installed was not right and wanted them to honor their "make it right" guarantee. Although there wasn't out-and-out swear words being used, I'm sure that is only because alcohol was not allowed on the premises. ....and slowly it all came back to me why we had not been there for over 2 years. Long story longer, we were there nearly 3 hours for a 3 minute inspection -- sweating outside in the sun while waiting for them to take our camper. The kicker was when I went to go pay, the General Manager decided to interrupt our transaction to have an impromptu department meeting with the entire cashier staff. Before he left, he cheerily said, "OK I'm out of here!" (Far be it from a customer to postpone his quitting time another 30 seconds...) No one on the staff that I talked with seemed surprised (or apologized) for the wait. As long as your wives are in there buying things and they can keep you waiting -- what's the worry for them? read more

The situation started when I purchased a new battery from Gander RV for my pop-up camper. I had had a few occurrences that made me believe the battery was on the way out and when the electric motor for raising the roof did not work, my assumption was that the battery had died. After purchasing a new battery at the store, the roof motor still did not work so I politely asked if it were possible to check the battery for charge. I had just paid $168 for it and assumed that especially as they were not very busy, they would be happy to help. Knowing whether the battery was charged or not would guide me towards the next steps to take. I was met with a strange attitude. In the whole parts/maintenance department there was no desire to serve or take care of a customer, just an undetermined feeling of resentment. In hindsight I realized that there could well be good reason for this - maybe there had been some kind of argument or friction with their boss or manager - who knows, but I was at that time recovering from covid for which I had been hospitalized a few weeks earlier. I was over it but still very weak physically and emotionally, recovering a little each day. My discussion with the young man, Joshua Lawson, who was the customer support for the repair and service department little by little became more intense. I, as the elder and more experienced of the two, feel very remorseful and sorry for allowing this to happen. I should have known better, and I sincerely repent for that. The fact that I was still weak, recovering from covid, is somewhat an excuse, but I am sorry. BUT, it takes two to argue, and this young man was in the responsible position to de-escalate any situation with a customer NOT escalate it. He needs training in that area. Based on my knowledge and experience (I am 70 years old) I believe that the root of the problem lies with his manager, Timothy Swick, who hid behind the curtain for the whole time, not showing himself once until the end when he appeared with 2 policemen. A good manager is surrounded by happy and creative people, willing to serve and take care of their customers. A good manager steps in to help when a customer is getting a little upset by something. A bad manager hides when things look difficult and is often surrounded by sick, unhappy and resentful people. This belief that the manager, Timothy Swick was at least partially at fault is borne out by the fact that he did not attempt to intervene and show his employee how to handle an unhappy customer but hid and allowed the situation to escalate. After that he went straight on the attack to destroy me with a felony charge. This was a CYB (cover your butt) tactic as I had mentioned that I was going to report this situation to their CEO, Marcus Lemonis, who had flyers on the door "If you are happy, I am happy" with the phone # to call with complaints. He had to make me look like an angry out of control madman. read more

Ready that day to buy a new RV, told them this. We were polite, and knowledgeable about what we wanted. They were rude and too busy to talk to us. We own a 12 year old roadtrek that we love but are ready to buy another class b with some more modern technology upgrades. Stoped to see what they had in stock. Noticed several rv shoppers standing around sales offices. Managed to ask one sales staff if we could talk to someone about a class b rv. We were told they were very busy and could put our name on a waiting list to speak to someone. We did, then walked around waiting our turn. Noticed most offices (perhaps 8 or more) had someone in it, alone, talking on phone or eating. As another sales person walked by, we caught his attention and told him he we had a road trek and we were ready trade up to a new one. He told us there were several out on the lot, but a long walk out. We told him we were happy to walk out there, if he would tell us which direction. When we got to that area, they were all LOCKED (in a fenced in lot thathave to go through the store to get to). It was a very hot day and the vans were over a block's distance to get to. We went back in and started to leave. The same salesman asked us if we saw anything we liked. I said "you have one of the vans we are interested in. But we are leaving and not coming back. You sent us out on a hot day alone to look at a locked rv. You just lost a sale worth over $ 130,000.". read more

Gander Outdoors is no longer for the outdoorsman. They have discontinued ALL fishing equipment and tackle. You cant even buy a hook there. Only good for over priced coolers and camping equipment.
