I read through the Yelp review and not sure I understand them all, but my experience was outstanding at the Grain Valley, MO location. Quick version . . . I live in WA state and was in the middle of a 60 day trip through the midwest to move our kids out of college, attend graduation, weddings, etc. Just north of Kansas City, I hit a terrible patch of road and ultimately broke (2) leaf springs, an axle, and blew a tire on my travel trailer. I subsequently sat on the highway for hours waiting for a wrecker to take the trailer to Camping World, the only place that I could find who would take the camper and work it into their repair schedule. Fastforward (3) days later . . . I decided to purchase a new travel trailer from Camping World. I never felt pressured, never felt like they thought they had a captive audience because they had my old trailer, and repeatedly they accommodated odd schedule requests to allow me to look at new units after hours. It was important that I get back on the road to finish my trip. Jimmy Norris, his partner Jacob Manning, and the General Manager Ken Keith bent over backwards to find a way to make this all work, and in short order. I got a VERY FAIR offer to buy my old camper that had nearly $4K in repairs needed, gave me a great deal on a new trailer, and did every little tiny thing to make it convenient to swap out my stuff from the old trailer, hook up the new one and fast track the financing discussions. The breakdown experience was terrible but can't imagine things working out any better and we owe the Camping World team a huge thanks! read more

We had terrible service. They replaced the inverter but left burnt wires. When we finally were able to pick it up after a long wait the customer service rep was quite rude and we were unable to even find a service technician to help. I would definitely not recommend this company. read more

I purchased a 2020 Outback there in Feb . I have a finance score of 820 and didn't have time to finance at my bank so did financing there , he gave me a 17 %intrest rate ?? WTH ? Ryan the finance guy said that's their rate , so I did it it knowing I could get my credit union would do better on Monday , 2 days later I did so but to pay off that note cost me $880.00 , WTH ? that was my mistake but he knew I wasn't going to pass up this camper , I told him I would just write a check for the whole thing but he said I would loss like a thousand dollars on my deal ? Moving on , I then purchased the warranty for everything ! 5500.00 to cover head to toe , inside and out , I was on the fence till I asked him how many years was the warranty good for ? Now I had a coworker with me to make sure I stayed in my lane , anyway Ryan said the warranty was good and covered everything head to toe inside and out for 15 years , well hells bells , I'm in , Id be stupid to pass that up , now months later I found out the warranty is good for 4 years and it doesn't replace interior furniture only repair so I was lied to 4 different times and screwed everyway to Sunday ! Don't buy from these people , they do what ever they can get the sale , CROOKS !! read more

Yah like most reviews on here, this place is a joke. I heard some employee there make Taliban jokes about the music choice in the lobby. It was really weird, but maybe I didn't get the joke. It looks ok, nice lobby and all but it' seems to just be a front for another crappy auto mall place. They "inspected" our camper and said it would be $5k in repairs and offered to buy it for $5k which is hilarious because it's 2016 Wolf Pup and nothing on there would add up to $5 even though our AC and awning are broke. Pretty sure they lied about our fridge not working or broke it themselves because it worked when we dropped it off. You could tell they didn't want us there, only wanted to focus on the new buyers willing to spend money on a new rig. Our sales guy was nice though and seemed sincere. read more

IF I COULD GIVE THIS PLACE ZERO STARS I WOULD. After calling to verify hours of operation to get a propane refill for my Airstream I drove over 70 miles to visit this store. I arrived half past five to find multiple sales associates standing around. I asked if I could get a propane refill- a rude male, who never made eye contact with me, informed me it was "too dark outside" and that he would have to do it "blindly and it's unsafe." I informed him that not only did I have head lamps, I also had flashlights. He did not have the decency to respond. He turned his back to me and ignored me. His associate proceeded to tell me other places in the area I could "100% absolutely get propane." Upon calling these other locations she was wrong. So. After schlepping my 5,800lb airstream and burning half a tank of premium, I walked away with nothing. I have a laundry list of items that I need which would have made a pretty nice sale for the store, but they have solidified my decision to stick to amazon going forward. Goodbye camping world. I will never step foot in this store EVER AGAIN and will tell everyone in my airstream realm to AVOID this store like the plague. read more

Horrible Experience I am still going through. They put my inverter/converter in backwards. The on is the off and vice versa. This is causing the RV not to work properly. This was GRAIN VALLEY MO. I took it into the Kansas City KS service center to get it fixed because that was the closest to me. I am being charged 1600.00 for them to tell me that Grain Valley will not cover their work, and I would need to repay Kansas City for them to but the unit in correctly this time. If I do not have them do the work, I only own them 1600.00 for diagnosis fees. This is crazy, DO NOT Go To Camping World. I am a USAF veteran and I've had the worst customer service experience in my entire life at Camping World in Grain Valley Mo. I felt abused and disrespected. I was selling my RV and was speaking to a guy named David Sherman. He asked me to bring it in on June 7th so they can assess the RV and make an offer. I had a friend follow me in the RV (which is 50 minutes away from me) so I may have a ride back home. When I arrived at camping world around noon David tried to call me, but I was on the phone so I texted him to reply. David told me he wasn't there because he was sick to give the keys to Adam. I texted no problem and I went inside to wait for Adam. Almost 45 min later waiting on Adam, I decided to give the keys to the receptionist and left. The next day, Wednesday I didn't hear from David so I texted him on Thursday to see how things were going. He calls me Thursday afternoon to tell me there was sludge in the engine, it needed chassis work and they weren't interested. That I needed to come pick it up the keys would be at reception at 3pm on Thursday. I mentioned I needed to make arrangements and may not get there until Saturday. I get off the phone with David and immediately called My mechanic and told him what David had said. He told me that simply was not true as they would've noticed that when they were working on the RV. So I then was able to get a friend on Friday to help me so we went out to pick it up. I told David I was on the way to pick up the RV and asked if I could have a report that mentioned these issues. Id like To take them to my mechanic that just aligned the wheels and change the oil on the vehicle so I may get these issues fixed. He wrote back and told me he'd be there by noon because he had a personal appointment and said he would have the paperwork then. I mentioned I couldn't wait till noon if he could email or photo me a copy of it. I arrive at Camping world around 10:45 am. Went to see the receptionist to grab my keys and she told me she didn't have them. After about 15 minutes of looking for them Adam came out and told me David took my keys home with him. I asked why does he have my keys and Adam was very short and flippant and said it was an accident. So I had to wait for David to bring me keys. David shows up around noon, an hour after I'd arrived. He brought me my keys and tires to tell me again that I hadn't changed the oil and there was chassis work to be done. I asked how there is sludge as I just got the oil changed and why wouldn't the cassis technicians that I took it to tell me of these problems existed? He told me he didn't know that's what his technicians told him. I asked if he could get that report for me and he proceeded to tell me that he didn't have a report and they were just not interested. I walked out the door so confused and felt like I was being lied to. David was very nasty about how he handled the situation and never apologize for wasting my time. I run a business and lost about $1750 because of the time I spent on David and camping world. Two days of my life to get lied to about my RV from a unpleasant nasty customer experience. I will post this message on all social media in order to deter anyone from ever going through what I've experienced with David and camping world. I'm very disturbed how I was treated and lied to by the staff of camping world in grain valley Mo and don't want anyone else to go through this abuse. read more

Careful on your walkthru, they don't do a good job. I drove out from Colorado to pick up a camper in March 2021. I was told the camper was winterized and they even had the stickers on the door. We drove back to CO and there was a winter storm hitting. Turns out the camper WAS NOT winterized, so I had to scramble to get it ready for the cold. Also, the nice switches to make the winterization easier were labeled wrong! I would have let this go and haven't said anything about it, but now they are nickle and diming me. When we used the camper this summer, we realized the main window in the slide out didn't have a screen! I called them to get a screen and they made me pay over $40 for the screen and just this week (months after I received the screen) they charged me another $38.25 for SHIPPING! I bought a $35K camper and they can't send me a screen that WAS MISSING when I bought it?! Terrible customer service and I would NOT recommend using this store. read more

The nicest thing I can say is that we didn't have to drive far to get here and we were able to see the trailer we wanted. But the sales tactics are ridiculous. They weren't willing to budge on price at all. When we showed them the same trailer at a dealership in Iowa for $7k less than they were trying to sell the trailer for they basically showed us the door. The General Manager handed us his card and told us we would be back. So we went home and bought the trailer from the dealership in Iowa for $7k less. Update, I contacted the email provided on here and they told me they take matters very seriously. Unfortunately no one ever followed through on used car salesmen tactics of selling a warranty. I was contacted about getting information about my microwave fixed. They wanted to file a warranty claim to see if it would go through, then they would send me a new microwave. This is not how you do business, you buy something brand new, you replace right away and you worry about the warranty. I own my own HVAC business and have had parts go bad on a brand new furnace. It happens, but I replace right away so the customer doesn't have to worry about it. If I waited to file a warranty they would be without heat for weeks. Still a horrible company to do business with, I urge everyone reading this to keep traveling down the road to another RV dealer. read more

We bought a 2023 Keystone Cougar travel trailer in May. They charged us $800 to clean & prep, that was a ripe off!!! I had clean up the sawdust, our refrigerator is making noise, the front window leaks, the outside water connector was leaking water into camper, door lock is broke on back door, outside refrigerator not anchored down so it bangs when traveling,.. I called there everyday for a week, they were either busy or in a meeting never returned my calls. I called their headquarters filed a case with them, finally got a call to bring camper in to get it fix, took it over there, (60 miles oneway) they had it for over a week called to tell us to come get it there was nothing wrong with it. Husband got upset with them about calling us a lier. They said come it they refuse to work on it!!! They just threw the power cord in the front instead of rolling it up. Our cover for the electric jac k is missing. It was bad enough our salesmen was rude and didn't listen to us after we gave them our BIG down payment. He never even told us thank you!!! If I had to do it all over again I sure WOULD NOT go there!!!! read more

There are not many Rv stores in KC, but this one is worth avoiding. Called ahead to get propane refilled, but when I drove my RV in they said it was too dark at 5:30! The sunsets at 5:00 in the winter, oh and it's the 21st century camping world you have lights and sell RVs with iPads in the walls! I bought my trailer at the OP KS RV show. Sales people were good (not pushy at all). Picked up the trailer on 3-10-20. In the excitement I missed a few things that should not have let the trailer ship. When I called them about the problems they said bring it back to get fixed. They got on it as soon as I got there. We went here fully intent on buying a camper but their poor salesmanship made us walk away. The price points of their RVs are not indicative of the quality. Take a bit of advice and save yourself heartache, time and a load of money and buy somewhere else. It is sad that they take advantage of hard working people with hard sales tactics and flat out lies. I am sad that I have to write this review. We bought our 2020 Salem from Camping World at the RV show that year. We have used the camper 3 times and enjoyed it with our grandchildren. However, when we hooked up to city water 3 weeks ago we noticed a week later that water was leaking out of our unit. We called Camping World and they have a 8 week wait to get your rig in. Leaving our underside insulation wet for two months is not an option. It's still very warm here and we don't want mold in our new camping trailer. I was told to call Forrest River, I called and they told me there was nothing they could do as our warranty is through Assurant. Next, I called Assurant and was informed that our warranty that was supposed to cover "EVERYTHING" does not cover a leak or wet insulation. As you can imagine we were quite surprised to hear this as we were told it covered "EVERYTHING" by Camping World. We spent over 32K on this camping trailer and all the protection we could possibly need but now we have a trailer that we will have to fix ourselves. Buyer Beware. read more

First old guy salesperson we ran into, stopped his golf cart to ask how he could help us. Once we told him we were looking around, he told us where the new ones were and where we could find the used ones. Then he took off on his golf cart. A 2nd guy told me if I didnt have $250,000 right now to buy a RV i wanted to look at, he would not open it so we can see inside. He was on a golf cart with another guy. Earlier this month we purchased an RV at the RV show downtown. I absolutely love our trailer but I can't say the same about Camping World. They have so much going wrong in that place it would take me all night to point out their issues. They are the poster child of horrible customer service skills. With so many issues surrounding our walk through and pick up we asked for a discount or gift card to help make up for their inadequacies they literally laughed and said "that won't really solve your problem". They lost our keys, put a new lock on the door and scratched the door doing it, yelled at us for not knowing where to park our trade in trailer upon arrival in their extremely small rundown lot AND the service department has some strange lady working there she sits and just stares at you while you try to convey what you need. Read my lips lady electronic brake controller, ya know, the thing that helps brake the RV trailer (those are the big long things you sell in the parking lot). Oh I almost forgot, when we did our walk through I asked about extending the awning and they said no, there's no room for that here. Run do not walk to another RV dealer. read more

This whole experience Has been an absolute joke. I bought my camper in late July/early august 2022. It's a BRAND NEW never been owned 2023 Coleman lantern. The day we picked it up I had my dad (who pulls trailers for a living) pull it home with his 2021 f450 and immediately noticed the brakes not working. We took it back to camping world, they had it for 2 months with little communication. They told me it was ready, went to pick it up again, still no brakes. Not to mention the fact that the paperwork they gave me was 3 pages long of stuff they had to fix that they did not communicate with me. The paperwork said that they replaced the brakes and they still weren't working properly but they wanted us to try it.. the guy at camping world told me that they tested the brakes and they were working fine, to which I replied that wasn't what the paperwork he gave me said. So it's now late November and I'm paying for a camper that I have never used and have had In my possession for less than a week. And I called for an update 3 weeks ago but nobody answered the phone and I never got a call back. read more

And as usuall only Cam could help me..and of course he was busier then a one legged man in a jump rope contest. The service counter is set up wrong....three so called service writters at the front, and Cam off to the side. Wouldn't you think the busiest guy/position should be the first person you encounter for the quickest turn over of parts and money???? I would. And the obstacles you encounter, items for sale, to get to get to the counter needs moved...quick in quick out???? Put those service writters in that parts storage area behind the 'parts' counter, open the wall where chairs are...and serve customers with more parts people and not just Cam....Dah... Hate to say it, I'm looking else where for parts.... read more

My camper has been there so long I forgot what it looks like. The issue was just a broken p trap under the shower. 4 weeks later and I still have no camper. Avoid this place at all cost. Find somewhere else and quit giving places like these all the business. Also I took it in there bc I knew there was water leak IN THE DRAIN LINE. I specifically told them that and a week and a half later they call me saying they come to conclusion the gray tank valve was the issue and they were gonna replace it. Took over a month to get permission to do warranty work. Then only did half of a fifteen minute job where the paneling was coming off on both sides. Had hooked up to leave then decided to look inside. Sure enough they had only fixed one side of the problem. Never did fix a slow leak which we fixed ourselves. Worthless. Go elsewhere. read more

I wished I could have given this business a ZERO! We bought our camper through them 15mo ago. They have had it roughly 10-12mo. All of the repairs were authorized by Forest River within our 1-year warranty. We have gone multiple times to pick it up and either crap repairs were done to where it would need to be repaired again in a week or no repairs at all. Then they had the nerve to call and tell us that they were going to access our extended warranty to pay for the same repairs they were already paid for by the manufacturer. To top it off, one of their employees decided that they could pee in our toilet. Matt, the service manager did not care and had excuses. He does not know the first thing about being a manager or quality control. Needless to say, we have had to file a complaint with the Missouri Attorney General. read more

I never leave negative reviews online as I believe in allowing a company the chance to correct their errors or respond to issues. This location does not care about the customer. If you will notice almost all of the good reviews are people being happy with the service they were provided when purchasing. If you need anything after that purchase you can count on major disappointment. I'm ashamed to say we didn't check the water pump when we purchased our unit which we should know better as we have purchased campers previously. However, they state they have checked everything before they sold it to us. We also purchased the warranty and I would not suggest purchasing the warranty if you plan to use this locations service department. We had to pay for the diagnostics to determine our water pump was out and that they sold to us with it not working. Then they charged our warranty for the work. The communication amongst themselves and with the customer is HORRIBLE. I maintained my patience throughout the process and kept notes on everything we went through and reported it to their GM and it boils down to he does not care. So when we got our camper back with more broken pieces than we took it to them with (broken locks, doorknobs, and cabinet panel) as well as the part still not working correctly we decided to simply wash our hand of them. I then wanted to cancel our warranty because we would never use their service department again and it took me a week to get anyone to call me back or answer my call. Once I was finally able to sing the paper to cancel the warranty I was never able to make contact with that individual again. I sent him 4 emails and left 2 voicemails over the next 60+ days (less than once a week and l was never rude). I finally made contact with another individual who never called me back. I finally found one person that followed through who then informed me that I would get no refund for my warranty because the warranty had been used to replace the part that they sold to me not working. I then asked not to cancel our warranty if we weren't going to get a refund and I was treated like I was crazy for requesting a refund but decided to keep something I wasn't going to get a refund for. I informed this individual that I appreciated their help, but I was disappointed our experience there had been so horrible. They apologized.....but never once asked what had happened or what their staff had done to let us down. I will never buy another camper at this location. I have been to other camping world locations since and this place is horrible in comparison. read more

Went to camp world located in gain valley in independence mo. We pull up and one of the dealers came out. We already know which one we are interested in so we act uninterested just to see how much they wanted to sell this camper. I ask the price and was told over 18000. Then I mentioned the internet said price range was in 160000. Then he said oh no it's around 17000. So I show him the internet price and said I'll sign papers with this price. We make a deal. Somewhere in the deal the manager did not like the fact we were getting a great deal. They held us at the facility for over 4 hours saying there were minor issues with banking but I think they were trying to make us walk out on the deal. They tried to say my jeep wouldn't hold the weight when that was the first thing we looked at and was good. Then they tried to say within a few minutes I would get results as hours went by. Upon sitting and waiting, I re checked the price of the trailer online and they changed the price to 17000. Then they said I was missing parts for hook ups so he priced one rate and later on priced higher but talking today to other vendors said they will do the job for $400 less. Went to RV Unlimited and walked off with a great deal and camper in less than an hour. read more

We contacted Camping World of Kansas City back in April 2019 about coming all the way from Stroudsburg, PA to purchase a Forest River Sierra 379FLOK. They were the only dealer that had the specific model we wanted. With a month in advance notice, deposit made via phone, we headed to them via a 17 hr road trip. We arrived to see our RV for the first time and it was NOT SALE READY. It was filthy, broken draws, chips in wood molding,- simply devastating. We were rushed through the walkthrough and told to deal with warranty to fix everything. They ripped us off $3k on a package that was suppose to be included in the sticker price. They are a bunch of crooks and just care about $$$. We sent a official letter to the Camping World Headquarters and are waiting to hear back. They knew how desperate we were to get that specific model so they did not care about customer service and satisfaction, only about the cash offer that came in.
