Mickey's Surplus has me shouting things like "Yo, Joe!" and "Knowing is half the battle!" GI Joe references aside, this place will rock your world if you dig military threads or urban and mechanical styled accessories like bags, pouches, cases, etc. Stores like Mickey's give me a great thrill. It's truly amazing what you'll find, especially from a fashion standpoint. I was going nuts over utility themed sweaters and rain-wear. If you really pay attention, you can see where many designers get their inspiration for their lines that grace the catwalk. You'll also find a plethora of backpacks from Condoor and role-specific equipment like shoulder bags, paratrooper packs, duffles, etc. Other gear like medic bags, gas masks, and Kevlar helmets can be had if you have the need or want to go rogue for a costume. I found this small tool bag that to me seemed like a perfect idea for a toiletry bag. The construction was so good it put those you'll find at your nearest mall to shame. What would one do with a US Domestic Mail 860 lb. mail bag? Laundry sack - that's what. It's white exterior and black lettering, ample size, and rugged drawstring make it a must for a alternative and modern take on holding those dirty clothes. That's just my take, but if you're like me, you'll probably start to see each item in a new way and its potential for "alternative uses." Go wild and and don't forget you'll find an assortment of hunting and outdoor gear as well. Get ready to get in the trenches because the shop is large and filled with merchandise everywhere you look

I went back recently to help someone with a Halloween costume. I hadn't been in this store since I was 15. Back then my dad was buying thermal underwear? Just stand in one spot and you will see a million things. Military is the main theme, but there are also work boots, fur hats, knives and a weird basket of fur animal pelts. I hope they are not cats. It's kooky, but it may just have that kooky thing you need!

    Fun (and slightly creepy) displays

The price is a little high but to be honest that's everywhere for anything. But the section of dickes is where it's at ! Great store.

It's totally one part corporate, crisp, functional retail goods store, and another part taxidermy animals, rides, fudge, and hunting & fishing gear like you'd find at Bass Pro. We took our kids here on a winter break, gray day and it was a lot of fun. First off, there's a mini aquarium when you walk in -- it's nothing to write home about, but it gets the kids attention and they realize right away this is a fun store. From there, you can't miss the gigantic ferris wheel in the middle of the store. Gonna be real, it's fun and worth the wait but also a bit nerve wracking. Something is just odd about quietly swaying at the top of a department store quietly for such a long time. My daughter was like, "Dad, I'm scared to look down!" and all I could think was, "so am I, kid, so am I." We both agreed it's pretty fun once it gets going. There's also a little bowling area where you get five frames for a buck, and ditto to a little arcade game area as well. There's toy stores, outdoor goods, quality brands of clothes and outfitting, and really a nice answer to online shopping. In fact, it feels like malls used to feel in the 90's but a modern spin on everything. We did eat here but I'd say skip it. I didn't find anything I wanted and when I went to finish off my kids chicken tenders I was super underwhelmed and ended up pitching them. I will say at this time they carry Sylas & Maddy's ice cream (best IC in the city IMO) so that was a nice surprise treat. What more could you want if out shopping with the kids?! It's a great spot to kill a quiet afternoon.

However, I had used them in the past for my baseball team and had a pretty good experience so I decided to go forward using them since so many others were using Nill Bro's b/c they were listed as the official provider for Blue Valley Rec teams. Jill, the owner, was a pleasure to work with and I found her to be VERY responsive. She often communicated with me via text which was extremely convenient and speedy. Her graphic artist took my ideas and did a very nice job coming up with three good options for a logo and lettering. I am a very detail-oriented person (a perfectionist of sorts) and their artist showed no frustration with me as I tweaked her ideas several times with my own. The only snafu was that our pants didn't arrive in time for our first game. However, it wasn't really a big deal...we had our socks, belts, jerseys and visors so we all matched just fine. In the end, everyone involved with the team is very pleased with the end result and we had our pants for our second game. She even stitched each player's number on the back of each visor which we did NOT discuss but parents have lauded about. She and her staff also organized the pick-up exceptionally well with all jerseys hung up and personalized bags around the neck of each hanger holding the belts, socks, and visors. As a coach getting ready too deliver them to each player, that was so helpful and I appreciated it very much! I would highly recommend you give Jill at Sportswear Etc a chance to earn your business. The best recommendation I can make is to go there immediately after determining your team name and roster so that she, her suppliers, her graphic artists, and her stitchers are not forced to produce a product in a short amount of time when everyone else is also requesting theirs be completed. If you do this, I believe you will be happy with the process just as I was. Brook Menees

Winter items were in good numbers. But the backpack section didn't have much inventory. The shoes display shelves were pretty empty. Prices were similar to website, little bit higher as all Lulu items are. They had fitting rooms available too. Associates were available in the area and around the floor assisting customers. Checkout line was moving quickly too. Overall it was a nice store for mostly apparel and winter goods.

I mention becoming a parent because any pregnant woman will tell you that Lululemon Align leggings are FIRE when your body is going through all kinds of changes and I have to say that even in my post baby body I'm still pretty hooked on them. All that to say, I'm a fan. I've been a fan now for years and I have some leggings that I'm going on my tenth year with, so I think for the price and the comfort they tend to hold up pretty well. Now onto this location. I love that they moved. The old spot was small-ish, and not really conducive to browsing. I popped into this one a few times recently, first on my birthday to browse and really enjoyed taking in the sales, and trying on some things, finally settling on some great sweaters. I was really relieved to find that the salespeople working nowadays were such a breath of fresh air from the visits I made ca. 2015. They were people of all shapes and sizes, and they were friendly. I hadn't been into a Lulu in some time so I asked the woman working the floor if they still did repairs as I had a pile of old leggings that had tears and holes that I was hoping to get stitched up at some point. She told me that they stopped that policy but that they do exchanges in most situations if they don't hold up. I was honestly flabbergasted as that seemed almost too good to be true. Needless to say I went home, packed up all my old leggings that had holes and came back a few days later. Now, when I came back there were different sales people on the floor and while they were all very kind, they lacked the confidence the first woman had about me getting these exchanged. They agreed that they had this policy but TWO of them spent a solid 5-10 minutes lecturing me on how to care for my leggings properly. It was almost as if they didn't believe me that I do follow the care instructions (because I do), and that I haven't been a customer for a decade. At the end of the day I got all but one pair exchanged, and they take detailed notes now on which ones you exchanged, why, and add it to your file - I'm assuming so you don't do this a ton. Overall I'm glad I was able to get them exchanged and it certainly extends the life of a product that is still very pricey for what it is. But, I'd honestly rather they bring back their repair policy. I would have been just as happy getting my pants repaired without all of the lecturing and shaming that they put me through just to honor their own policy. I reiterate that they were overall nice and not mean about it, but it definitely made me feel like I was doing something wrong, when I'm just trying to use their product as they intended, with the guarantees they commit to with their performance.
