Service guys were great with some general RV question I had on my rig. Today a had a water issue after a 16-degree night, called Jayco the maker of my 5th wheel and after almost 2 hours trying to troubleshoot they were not at all helpful. I thought I would see if Camping World could point me in the right direction. Made a call spoke with Matt Marley and Micheal Reyes and in about 3 minutes they told me what the issue was and where to look to fix it. Best part they were spot on. We bought a pre owned camper from this location and immediately upon receipt of the unit many problems were noticed. The awning was half in the channel, the 7 way cord to hook to truck had no left turn signal or brake lights, or trailer brakes. There was trim from the slides destroying the floor, the gas tank hoses were dry rotted and completely leaked the tanks out between the dealership and me. We bought the extended service warranty and were led to believe this had a $100 deductible, but little did we know we would be charged hundreds of dollars for things that were not covered by warranty or service even though they didn't get fixed. The general manager, sales manager, service manager, all lack the ability, morals and integrity to take responsibility for the things that were broken before i ever received the camper. Now I owe and have paid $1000 or more dollars for them to change 1 speaker and 1 cord. I have to pay hundreds of dollars of diagnostic fees for things i told them were broken and warranty won't cover those things so they won't be getting fixed. I don't know how to explain the amount of money spent for nothing in return. There is no way for me to message customer care when they ask either?! read more

I was at Camping World In Garner, NC for service. Charles was my service associate, he explained everything to me suggested other services the I should do while they were on sale. I took advantage of that and saved a lot of money. I am completely satisfied with the service that I received , they did a great job. I should've read Joe D's comments below before taking my RV to this camping world. -Dropped off trailer on Sat (Day 0)... although i had an appointment, i still had to wait in line for 20 mins. Was told that they would call me on mon or Tues to tell me what they found. - Called Wed (Day 4) for an update and was told that they hadn't looked at it yet... WHAT! Ops manager said that the goal is to get all rv seen within 72 hours. - Got a call Mon (Day 9) to tell me they diagnosed it and they wanted approval to fix it for x price in parts and y price in labor. I sent email saying yes continue with work. - Got a call on late Friday (Day 13) that rv was ready for pickup and the price is 41% more than what i had approved via email. Total, over $700 to replace a slide out motor that the controller had already determined to be not working. - Showed up to pickup the rv (Day 14) and although i called 1 hour in advance, i had to wait 40 mins to be seen. I dont understand why they only have one person coordinating service dept while they have 3 or 4 people in the parts dept doing Minimal work. This was the worst experience i ever encountered in the vehicle maintenance industry. This service dept is not transparent in their practice and while i waited to pick up my rv the three people in front of me tore into Mike R... i decided not to be the fourth. 14 Days to repair a slide out motor is unacceptable. Not communicating the cost accurately was unethical (over $700 for such a simple job) AND I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. read more

Does anyone appreciate my business?" I bought a class A motor home at the Garner, NC store a few years ago. I have a lot of the same complaints others have with weeks to even look at your unit even when you have a reservation then parts take forever to get. The sales force is friendly and very happy to take you money, but once the sale is over good luck with service. What really gets to me on a deep down person level is that no one at the store even acknowledges you existence. I have yet after many years had the lady at the front door to seven say hello how are you doing!! Employees that appear to care about you are worth their weight in gold. This has to be a systemic problem because you have to be trained to be so rude and impersonal. Why buy where you are not appreciated....Their business model is sorely lacking so take you wallet and shop somewhere else. read more

I bought a Thor motor home from camping world of Raleigh N C. After first summer trip found air cond.would not cool unit. Took back for service. I was told unit was repaired. Did not use again until fall in N C mountains. Could not use in 2019 because of sickness and operation. When used this year had same problem not cooking. Now camping world will not repair. Out of warranty. Never repaired first time. I was only lied to again. Anyone reads this I hope you think twice. read more

I'm not a big review giver but I had to add my opinion on this business. I'm giving them 4 stars because I know some people just regard a perfect score as a shill. I was looking for a very specific RV and found it at this location 300 miles from where I live. When I looked at all these horrible reviews of this business given by previous customers, I seriously considered driving much further. After working on the telephone with the sales people Sal and Sal (yeah two guys with the same name) I pulled the trigger. The whole way down, I was preparing myself for a bad experience because of these bogus reviews given by amateurs. My trade-in and purchase went swimmingly! I wasn't "bait and switched", I wasn't pressured and I've had my new RV long enough to know that I wasn't sold a lemon. If you've never owned an RV before, take more than a weekend picking the right one. Do the research and make the decision way ahead of the day you go into the salesman's office. These bad reviews about this business must be written by whiny amateurs who expect the moon. Don't compare RVs to cars, they're ALL going to have a few flaws in the assembly stage because they're built quickly and light. I'm a veteran RV owner and EVERYONE at this dealership as well as the store were stellar. I wish it wasn't 300 miles away. read more

We went to buy a new RV, was promised by the sale lady the fifth wheel would be clean tip to top since it was used RV. Also, it did not have a mattress in it. So the sales lady said after we picked out the mattress, they would pay half and we would pay the other half which was added to the cost of the camper. Management is horrible no one knows what they are doing they order the mattress it came in, the lady called asking if we preferred a 11:00 am or 1:00 pm walk through, we told her 11. The next day the lady is not there in fact no one knew we were coming. So they made us wait an hour and some guy came in for the walk though who had never seen this camper didn't know anything about it. When we got in nothing was fixed we ask for the stover cover to be fixed, to vacuum the sofa bc of pet hair, nothing was done to make matters worst the black water tank was 1/2 full. We had already paid cash for this camper. We then waited for a financial rep to go over the pep rework, give us our tags and license. While waiting some sales lady came by saying as promised here is your 400.00 gift card for the credit for the mattress. We were shocked we thought it was added to the price since it was more then the agreed upon price. The next day we get a phone call from the lady who gave us the gift card saying we own 700.00 for the mattress.. we were floored. Then shortly after the sales lady called asking us to bring back the gift card, no problem there bc we didn't want any of their high cost crap, we just got everything we needed from Walmart. My husband told the sales lady he noticed an extra charge of $495 for the cost of the camper assuming that was the mattress. The next day my husband went to turn in the gift card and speak to the store manager however he was too busy to speak to us so the financial rep spoke to my husband. My husband complained about the service and told the rep we have paid for the half the mattress with the added $495. The rep said no that's the cost of cleaning and the walk through. Are you kidding me! My husband told the rep we were done with is camping world and said we didn't get a clean camper so you apply that 495 to the cost of the camper. Had a problem with a Dometic roof a/c I had replaced last year. Still under warranty. Called Dometic. They suggested a dealer whom I called to be told they did not do warranty repairs unless bought from them. Dometic said call other dealers and find one who would. Call number two to Camping World Garner. They set me up an appointment for the middle of the following week. Took my bus in and Billy Bentley (service advisor) got me checked in. Explained how long(couple days extra) they had to order correct unit in from Dometic. We discussed a couple of other service issues which they accomplished while waiting for the a/c. As so many other reviewers have said, I truly wish I could give them zero stars. My wife and I selected a trailer. I believe she was more informed than the salesman about what they had available. At their closing time, we were sitting in the office ready to write a check for the entire amount of the trailer. The sales manager came in and did the normal song-and-dance about how we worked him over so bad, and at the price we got the trailer for he was going to be in big trouble, blah, blah, so would we do him a big favor and please let him finance some of the amount. We are agreeable people, so we said, "Yes". Two and a half hours later, they finally finished processing us. And they even jumped us ahead of someone else who should have been before us. While Anthony was processing our papers, he showed us a sheet that had the three hitch options for us, and we chose the option he recommended. We scheduled a time to come in for our walkthrough. Came back a few days later to do the walkthrough and pick up the camper. Our salesman had even told us to come about fifteen minutes early so they could take care of the hitch. We got there early and everyone looked at us like we were speaking Greek..."No, no. You have to select a hitch now and it will cost you about $1800 for the hitch a load leveler." So what was all that mess about deviously? It was about giving us a price we could compare elsewhere and making them potentially $1800 more competitive. And to top it all off, we were there between two and three hours again and they still didn't have it ready! We had to come back the next day. We took it to the lake for a shakeout trip. My wife was on the phone with our insurance agent, and went to the back to get the license number. Guess what? No tags. They sent us out without tags. I called our salesman, who loves to reassure you over and over that he will take care of you. I told him we would be on vacation for a week and would look in the mail when we got back, to find the tags. Got back yesterday...no tags. Called Anthony and he said he'll mail them. But given the experiences of others listed here, I'm not holding my breath. I we to the General Manager and listed a lot of my concerns. He gave me a very sincere look, told me he assumed all responsibility, and then he gave me his card. What the heck use is that? read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. I ordered a weight distribution hitch kit online went to pick it up at the store and when I got at home, I realized they gave me someone else's order. It wasn't even the right item. Called them and they said they had my correct order so I went back a second time the next day to exchange the wrong parts for the correct parts, got the new parts home, and realized again they gave me the wrong item, they gave me a weight distribution hitch, but it wasn't the kit that I had ordered the complete kit. Called them again and explained what happened and so I had to go back a third day in a row when I got there there were no guys working in the parts department. There was a woman who assisted me but advised me that she could not lift it. I told her I cannot lift it either and she told me I would have to wait until 10 o'clock when the parts guys came in. I told her I was not waiting an hour for the parts guys to come in and that there were other guys in the store and they could help. She proceeded to tell me while they work in other departments, but she would ask. Eventually someone came in assisted me. Absolutely ridiculous that you would tell a customer to wait an hour just because the guys that work specifically in the parts department don't get in until 10 o'clock. Everyone at the store works for the store so it shouldn't matter which department someone is in if a customer needs assistance with lifting something then you should suggest that you'll get someone from another department and not tell the customer to wait an hour. read more

Warning, please beware of the service department. I purchased a trailer from CW and had several items serviced. The service department seemed disorganized as evidenced in their lack of communication with the status of the service progress, seemingly only progressed with service when I called them to remind them that they had my trailer, and continued to break items each time I brought it in for service. I brought my trailer in to replace tires and they broke my axil in the process. When replacing my axil, they failed to tighten the bolts and reconnect my breaks. After bringing it in twice to complian, they assured me that nothing was wrong but they could replace the breaks. To make things worse, they filled the tires up to 100 psi, ruining my tires. I brought my trailer to a third party and they resolved all the items that CW failed to resolve. Not only is it a bad idea to bring your rig to CW, you may find yourself and other lives in danger. This place is a great store to go to if you need camper parts. However, there is a couple things... I bought my camper for 4000.00 less at rv outlet in va. I told the sales guy and he said enjoy the drive. It was a 2015 keystone passport. Like i said camper parts, they have what you need. I just cant figure out what the girl does in the chair next to the door except look at her phone and talk with other associates. Of all the times i have been there she, they, whomever is there never greets you. Its just a awkward person you have to walk by while going into the store. If i owned this store every person walking in i would have them greet. In the beginning it used to make me want to walk out of the store but now i just expect it. As far as service, it took 6 weeks for my hot water tank to change the thermocoupler through warranty. I know they are busy but that was with an appointment. read more

If i could give a half star, i would. I purchased a new camper at the Raleigh site and was told to bring it back within 90 days and log any issues to be fixed. During this time i found i that my 2 rear support jacks were bent (Screws were bent and both jacks slanted towards the rear. Its obvious to me that this unit was moved with the jacks down, i wish i had had them run all the jacks down during the inspection..... When i took the unit in, i am told that I bent the units and CWR would not fix them as they could not get Starcraft to cover under the warranty. I talked to Starcraft and the dealer did not call this out upon delivery. So, here i am spending 10's of thousands on a new camper only to find myself having to go back and forth between the dealer and the manufacturer (this is not customer support) trying to get somebody to cover this damage. So basically, CWR has lost a repeat customer (this was my first camper) over a set of $40 jacks. I will be calling Starcraft again tomorrow to log a complaint. Its not about the money, its about standing behind your service and customers. One thing is for sure, i will never shop at this store again. read more

Absolutely the worst service department imaginable. Do not buy any of their warranties or a camper from them. They will lie about how great their coverage will be and then not complete their work in a timely manner. We have a camper that is less than 90 days old and the drain from the shower is broken in half. We have been waiting more than a month for them to replace the vent cover for the stove for the 3rd time because they cannot secure it properly and not have it blow off while traveling down the road. We have had to make the minor repairs ourselves because they want to keep your camper for weeks at a time to tighten up blinds and touch up paint. If you buy from them, plan to service it yourself or use another service company. Do not bother with their warranties because I can assure you, you will not want to deal with their service department after the purchase. read more

Buyer Beware..The dealership has been a nightmare to deal with. and DO NOT ever buy a THOR product...both are very bad news...I bought a brand new unit that broke down within the first week out and we brought it in for service on August 10th and they still have it as of this writing on November 14. They messed up my warranty and service while out on the road was over 600 dollars even though I have the Platinum coverage. To date even though I have been working with the dealership and Thor to get a refund both refuse to help or listen...I am hoping to trade this brand new coach in at a different dealership where I can get decent service and a decent coach that is actually covered by a true warranty...I tried to call the hotline they give you to call for both the dealership and THOR and all they do is connect you right back to the dealership where you get no service at all... read more

In the beginning of my search for a RV I thought this would be a good first stop. At first I was pleased that the sales person was quick to help - until the tables turned and I tried to leave. The salesman was very high pressure - insisting that I could afford an RV (he knew nothing of my finances), telling me he could get a quote for my motorcycle if I sent him pictures (he later would not give me a quote and insisted I bring the bike in), and talking around the actually out the door price (which is what I was asking for). The RV I was looking at was small, and he told me it was (roughly) 12k (after I specifically mentioned out the door price - all fees included). When I asked about other fees, he listed some 2k worth of addition money that would be needed (tax, walk through etc). I was repeatedly asked "why won't you buy today?" Honestly the whole thing felt slimey and like a financial trap. This is all after I made clear I was just starting me search for a recreational vehicle and would not be purchasing for at least several weeks. read more

Their service writers, Service Manager and Operations Manager are all extremely knowledgeable about all of the different RVs and campers that they service. It is refreshing to be able to trust the service department with my investment while it is being worked on. So now the follow up.... 8 months later I finally received my tag for my camper.. The headache of taken time off work to meet DMV theft inspector to verify VIN plate and inspect camper to make sure it was not a stolen or salvaged camper. Numerous calls and emails to Camping World corporate brand manager Susan Harrison(joseph Hoey the GM at camping world Raleigh would not take a call or respond to an e mail). Best Story I have received(by contacting DMV myself and half documents) that created this problem is Camping world took camper on a trade in and refused to pay off camper and title was being held by a lender(maybe they paid it off maybe not) . Initially was told I would have tag/title in 2 to three week by rep(Jillian) at camping world Raleigh(this was 2 months in) yet in under complaint# in their computer system reported it would take 6 to 8 months to get title and tag issued. I made a simple request to the general manager this is my exact email "Mr. Hoey, I hope this email reaches you doing well. I am emailing you to see if I can get a response to questions asked about compensation for time I have had camper, and have been able to use it. Your business sold me a camper that did not have a title on it. I have done my research and know you took it in on trade and also sold it to me without a title. I have had the camper since June 3rd, 2017. I know I was given numerous Temporary tags. I was advised by the DMV this is also Illegal and if I would have been stopped with them I would have been fined or worse. SO i have not been able to use it since I was advised about this. I believe it is only fair that I receive compensation for Loss of use. I would like to receive all payments I have made over the Past 8 months. My Initial Payment was $475.80 after that payment, they are $425.80 a month which come to a grand total of $3456.40 I would like to have returned to me for compensation for loss of use during this time. I have been informed by Jillian that you all have your title now and she is putting it into my name this week. She said I should have a tag by friday. Please advise on what you would like to do as far as compensation goes? R/" His response: "Joseph Hoey Jan 31 to me Mr. Blankenship, I appreciate you reaching out to me. I respectfully decline your request for payment reimbursement." I believe that is a fair request but these clowns will not pay it they will continue to screw over veterans and general people as they like... My final comment... Horrible. Bought a brand new 2018 Pioneer and have had problem after problem with it. Very unorganized. Told them I was coming to pick it up and they forgot I was coming. It was a two hour drive for me so it was disappointing.so I had to wait another week before I was able to pick it up. Now, we are at a campsite for the first time and the air conditioning went out. Let me say first it is 95 degrees and I have a newborn. Called technical support and they said this happens a lot where camping world forgets to put the coils on the camper for the air conditioning. Bought a travel trailer last night and it was a great experience! Sal was my sales rep. I had no idea what type of trailer I wanted as I am new to the whole RV experience. My wife didn't want me to get one but he was able to help me persuade my wife. Very upfront from the beginning, definitely felt like I was being taken care of. The delivery of the trailer was great as well. Very thorough walk-through, answered all the gazillion questions I had. I asked them to winterize the RV before I took it home, this was around 4:45 and the service dept closes at 5! No complaints and they helped me hitch the trailer and everything. Hooked me up with a $500 gift card so didnt cost me anything out of pocket for a hitch ball. After the doing the financing part, went out to the trailer and they were checking all the lights, one of the turn signal lights were out and the service guys and Sal were replacing the bulb. This was very close to closing time if not after. Hats off to these guys. First time owning a RV and even being in one, they made it a really smooth effortless experience! read more

This store is smaller than other I have been to and with less parts. the biggest disappointment is spending a lot of money every month here and you guys wont let me use the dump station. Beware of mislabeled packaging, along with the worst customer service and return policy! I purchased a "short queen sheet set." When I got it home, it was actually a king size set. I took it back to the store and explained to them that it was the wrong size and I think someone put the wrong label wrap on the sheet set because it was barely taped on when I bought it. The manager explained that opened items were not allowed to be returned, plus it was sold on clearance, and they cannot be returned. I told him I would like to have the sheet set, but I want what I thought I was buying in the first place, and this was false advertisement; they sold me something mislabeled. The manager explained that he didn't "sell" me anything, I chose to buy it, and I can go buy another one. I clarified with the manager; if I don't trust their packaging and it's the wrong size when I get home, then I'll be out more money; obviously they don't back up the labeling of their products and they don't value customers the way a business should. They sell campers and deal with items worth tens of thousands of dollars; the sheet set regularly was $16.50 and I paid $11.75; they would not refund $11.75 for something they mislabeled or replace it with the correct item. This was clearly their wrongdoing, and they did not take responsibility. I do not recommend making any purchases at this store; plus, many of the items they sell are less expensive on Amazon, with free returns. read more

We've been waiting months and months for parts. We ended up buying our own on Amazon. Whenever we need work done, they keep our RV for weeks- only to turn around and say they can't find anything wrong. Also, the service employees are RUDE. So awful. This place truly sucks. I was having generator problems that it would run for 15 minutes and then shut down. So I took to these clowns. They first told me they got it fixed and I was good to go. I got five minutes down the road and the generator died. I was close to a campground and pulled in, not to mention it was July and now 95 degrees in the RV. The next morning I was sitting there at 8 am. Well then the master Onan tech tells me I have the wrong oil in the generator and I should be good to go. I was 10 minutes away and guess what the generator kicks off again. After a sweaty two ride to Wilmington I pulled up youtube. Come to find out the fuel pump needed replacing. I just purchased a 2018 Thor Freedom Elite 30fe. When I went to pick it (appointment was for 1:00) to do the walk through, yeah I was a little early got there about 1030-1100. Still no walk through till 5:30. Found several problems that the maint. staff quickly repaired. Did I mention these were items I found through the walk through. Seems to me the staff should have done one before they showed it to me, but hey I was early. I do have to admit the sales staff was doing what they do, making a sale, and yes the maint staff was doing what they are supposed to do make it right. This is my first Motor Home, so I was a little less educated on what to look for as far as issues go, so I was happy with what I saw at first glance. So anyway I get it back to the house and low and behold I have enough keys for the locks ( 2 sets) but one set doesn't even work, then there are no owners manuals for the main cab/truck, none for the TVs nor other amenities that come standard. I did however get the owners manuals for the stove and microwave. Found out the next day when I drove it back about (100 miles) that I was supposed to get a black bag with all of the owners stuff needed info in it. Needless to say it was not anywhere to be found. One of the reps said all of the owners manuals where in the truck or I could find the manuals online. So I went online (to the site they referred) only to find very limited info on anything about it and still nothing about the truck itself. Nothing on how to operate anything in the truck, outside the truck, nothing. No truck owners manual for warrantees, warrantees on the Tvs, radios, nada. I have purchased several cars in my life time new and used, most have had the manuals, to at least give the owner and idea of trouble shooting, fluid levels, tire sizes, etc. this one, nope. Went in to get a part for my camper guy at the parts counter says it is in the back. Well after waiting because he was the only one working at the parts desk on a customer warranty. Some one finally came after 20 min waiting. Then we get to check out they have to page the cashier but you walk by all the little offices in the show room they are full of folks seating on there butts. Customer service has a lot to be desired plus not impressed by attitudes of the workers they look tried word out or just look like they don't care. read more

My 2015 trailer that was purchased elsewhere was just serviced by these folks who worked hard with my warranty and stayed in constant contact the 3 weeks they had it. They have a skilled welder on staff and were able to make a repair that is better than new with extra steel and support and I now feel safe to travel.
