The store itself is huge and located within the restored 1901 Denver Tramway Building. This building is all brick and just stunning to walk up to and into. They offer every type of equipment one would need for their selected sport whether it's hiking, climbing, cycling, camping, paddling, skiing, snowboarding or overall fitness. They also offer the option to rent outdoor equipment, provide a full range bike shop and ski and snowboard services. The store features a 47 foot tall climbing wall right in the middle of the floor and other unique decorations. I have never been in such a huge REI store but it was a fun experience. My husband managed to spend all his saved up gift cards (Ha! Ha!) Service was friendly and helpful from the staff. REI can always be a little on the spendy side but I always try to catch their sales. I love being a member and receiving my annual rewards. Parking is the only downer as it's only free for the first hour. After that you must pay and believe me, an hour is not enough time here. So glad we had the opportunity to stop in, shop and check out this historic location.

Through hiking the Appalachian Trail. The beard's been trimmed, my feet feel somewhat normal and I've been reflecting back on those fun days on the trail with all my hiker trash friends. I'm sitting here planning my next great challenge, hiking the Pacific Crest Trail next spring/summer. One of my big decisions is what equipment worked great for me on the AT and what equipment I need to replace for my PCT adventure. The one thing I loved on the AT journey was my MHM Divide 55 pack. The Divide has to be the most comfortable, dependable packs I've owned. If you're into ultra light packet's not for you, coming in at 5.5 pounds. If you are a hiker who wants a greta fitting quality pack that carries your equipment comfortably, this is your pack. The Divide allows easy access to that one piece of equipment that you need right now; without emptying the pack out. Thanks to it's eleven different pockets. I'm one of those people who love to keep everything organized and in it's place. I guess that comes form over thirty years of working for the US Forest Service, National Park Service and the US Fish and Wildlife Service. The quality of the workmanship and the design of the pack features are second to none. The pack fits great no matter if you're carrying twenty-five or forty-five pounds of gear. Yea, Im not a ultra light hiker, yet. Twice, on the AT I went more then ten days plus in between resupply points, because I'd rather spend my time on the trail then in town. The Divide had room and could handle the added wight and still ride great.Their adjustable, dual pivoting hip belt, along with the sYsnc A.C. suspension suspension system, makes this pack the most comfortable pack I've ever used. This small pack company in Colorado has really put that extras effort into making, what I think is the best backpack on the market today. After five and a half months on the AT my Divide 55 was still in great shape. That's because of the quality on materials used and great workmanship they place in there packs. So, happy trails and remember; Hike your own hike. Be safe and see ya on the trail. Toasted Toad
