This place makes it so easy to come in and get your dog started! You can fill out the paperwork through their website by printing out their PDF file. I walked in one day without an appointment with my completed paperwork and was given a tour of the facility the same day. They have plenty of outdoor run areas for the dogs to play in! They don't have drop off times. Drop off your dog when you are ready to on your scheduled day of day care. One night, I stayed later at work than I thought I would, and they had no problem boarding Chester for the night. There was no "punishment fee" or "late fee" for having to stay later for work which I see exists in other overly expensive dog day cares. I was charged what I would pay if he was boarding anyway. Another huge bonus to this place is how unbelievably affordable it is. They charge $11 a day for day care for the small doggies. Have ya seen the costs for dog day care elsewhere? Double or even triple that price for an all indoor area. No thanks. Chester always comes home tired and relaxed, but with a wagging tail. I'll board him here when I go away for weekend trips because they offer to walk your dog outside for just a little extra. Overall, prices are more than reasonable, the facility is clean and kept up well, the staff is always pleasant. I'll never take Chester anywhere else again. read more

The price is RIGHT! Most other places want to charge some very over-the-top fees just for boarding. We are nearly always happy with the quality of care. The one thing I don't like; is how dirty our dogs are when I pick them up, even with the courtesy bath [which is a nice gesture] and is the reason that they don't get 5 stars. But they are responsive to requests for changes, if you have any. They also make sure shot-records are up to date [a GOOD thing], so be prepared in advance. That said if you have realistic expectations about where your dog is staying; understanding it's not the Ritz-Carlton, then you'll be happy with the service they provide. Besides do you really want some pet-sitter coming over to your place while you're gone? I don't, which is why I happily opt to kennel them with Camp Schultz. read more

Normally we have a pet sitter stay with our pup, Bailey.. but this trip our sitter and our daughter (our backup) were both on the trip with us.. It was an overnight so I decided to board her with Camp Schultz. Lisa couldn't have been nicer at answering all of our questions.. It is super close to our house.. The price is fantastic and best off all, when we went to pick up Bailey - Rachelle, one of Bailey's obedience trainers from a now closed business, was sitting at the desk.. I had to do a double take but what a nice surprise.. If I had any doubts whatsoever about Camp Schultz (which I didn't.. but still), I have none now.. Being single and in the military I could not imagine my life without my little furry friend, and Camp Schultz has allowed me to be able to rest at ease that she is being taken care of while I'm on duty. I LOVE this place with all my heart. I started bringing my puppy here the day she turned 4 months old and I couldn't be happier. Camp Schultz is not only the cheapest doggy day care I have found, but the sweetest people work here. Everyone takes my crazy energetic puppy in with open arms and a SMILE (hard to find these days). I feel so comfortable leaving her here while I'm at work because I know they genuinely love these dogs. I have used this camp many times in the past with no problems. Today is a different story. I brought my 2 German shepherds in on 6JUN28 @0830 or so. I picked them up @0830 on 7 JUN. this is the hours that the camp is open. I was charged 2 days of day camp for my dogs. The man working the counter said they charged for 2 days because they, the staff, started working at 0700. I think this was highly unfair since the hours of operations start @0830 and I couldn't have come to get them at @600. A little upset to say the least. Once I get my dogs home they both drank 2 bowls of water. It was like that haven't had any water the whole time they were there. I will have to rethink using his facility again. It's sad because I liked his place until today. read more

Very satisfied with our recent experience at Camp Schultz. We typically board our two dogs with our vet because of a health problem with one (and he can be feisty with other dogs), but the holidays had every boarder booked up months in advance. I was so worried going somewhere new for so long (11 days!). When I picked them up they looked in even better shape than when I dropped them off! I could see them through the window before they brought them back and they weren't barking or stressed at all -- just seemed to be hanging out in a very spacious indoor/outdoor kennel. They were also clean as a whistle. You could really tell they care for and about the dogs. We'll definitely be repeat visitors! read more

I am not a happy customer. Upon my first visit to see where my cat would be staying, the lady employee was very nice and was clearly an animal-lover. after taking a vacation for 13 days, I picked up my cat, and i was disgusted at what I saw. Wolfie is elderly, likes to have a small bowl of cat treats, plus dry food, then gets canned food at breakfast and dinner. He drinks water out of a cup, not a bowl. When I arrived to pick him up, his litter box was overflowing with uncovered poop (2 days' worth- I know because he makes really small bowel movements), and the poop was not covered up because the urine had soaked up all of the litter. The entire area wreaked of urine. I brought all if his bowls and his cup to Camp Schultz... The treat bowl was empty, and the water cup was only half full, and he could not reach his head down into the cup to get a drink. The employee lied to me and said she had filled the cup one hour before. I know it was a lie because when Wolfie drinks, he always spills water over the side of the cup (100% of the time)- the area at the bottom of the cop was bone dry, so I have no idea how long he went without water to drink. Sadly, the cat quarters are directly adjacent to the office, so even though an employee was always right there, my baby was not well taken care of. We won't be using Camp Schultz again. read more

Just got off the phone with them, introducing myself as new to the area and asking for information regarding their doggie daycare. After a very brief conversation as she described the 'runs' they stay in for most of the time, with little 20 minute pee breaks in the yard, I asked for pricing for my dog (based on size). While on the phone still, she started to look up the price, then said "oh a customer just came in can i call you back?". Uh... you are dealing with a customer on the phone, lady! And a potential NEW one at that! Now THAT is bad customer service in my opinion, value the person/business potential that you are speaking to Camp Shultz, and with that, I will now try the second of only two doggie daycares in my area! read more

I picked up my dog and he wasn't that active as before. I asked the staff how he was at boarding, she said he was doing good. Called after couple of hours and asked again coz he's not the same. She said he was doing good and eating well, until I mentioned that when we came home he didn't eat, diarrhea and very lethargic. She put me on hold then said "yes i remember him now, having a little bit but he finished his food this morning.....". I observed him and took to the vet next early morning and vet said, he's severely dehydrated due to diarrhea so they told me to take him to ER. His kidney almost collapsed, he did lots of lab test and stayed overnight at the hospital...to make it short, my 5 lbs dog almost die. If I can give 0 star I will. They don't monitor each dogs. I just really need to share this, so new costumers aware. read more

I was planning on leaving our dog here while we were out but I would never leave him here after today... when I went in to ask for information the lady on the front desk was very nice but they have a policy where you have to make an appointment to take a tour! Excuse me but how can you not check out the place where your baby is staying? Why do I have to give a notice to see the condition in which all the dogs are living in? They gave me such a weird reason why they can't let me check out the place, they said that because they just had 100 dogs because of christmas there was a mess. I have checked out other kennel places and they all have given me tours on the spot. I know everyone talks about how great their prices are but I would rather pay more and know my pup is in a safe and clean environment. I have never boarded any pets here but beacuse of this I would never leave our pup here... read more

I was very happy with my boarding experience at this kennel. For $20 a day (depending on size), my lab came home tired and happy. He tends to get an upset stomach when he eats food to which he is not accustomed and/or is stressed. He came home completely normal, no strange bowel problems, which tells me he was fed his normal food (which I brought), was exercised, and was not stressed. I will definitely use this kennel again and will recommend to friends. You have to keep in mind that this kennel is outdoors, so "fluffy" may come home a little dirty. For lots more money, you might choose another kennel for a prissy pup. For my lab (still a baby), this place was great. read more

If you love your pet you won't take them here. I had 2 dogs that spent several days here. They were not fed properly. Not given an exit bath. I could go on and on but the sickening part is the large cold bag where I kept my dogs food and treat came home with me with RAT SHIT in it. So gross . Went back to discuss my concerns . I had been taking my dog to another kennel when we traveled and felt a little apprehensive about it. This time I called Camp Schultz and just from the professional manner in which I was treated, I sent my dog to camp! It is always difficult to say goodbye when we leave, but I had a true sense of relief when I left after dropping my dog off at Camp Schultz. The grounds are beautiful, everything is clean and well kept and the atmosphere is happy and friendly. I felt confident my dog was in good hands so I was able to relax on my vacation . On returning, I peeked out the window to see my dog wagging his tail as they walked him out to me. He was obviously happy, just to be there. He looked well taken care of and happy when I took him home. I will without hesitation take my dog here next time I need boarding. read more

We love this place. We are from Las Vegas and come to San Diego for vacation about every three months. We have our boxer with us everywhere we go. Some days it's great to have a place to take him when we do something not "dog friendly". The staff here are very nice and our dog seems to have the time of his life when he is here. Went to tour the camp on Saturday 5/19 after exchanging a couple of emails with Zach. Arrived during business hours and rang the doorbell. After about 10 minutes (and another ring) someone opened the door and simply asked me for my last name. No 'Hello, welcome, how are you...', nothing. Handed him my dog's shot records. He looked at them for about 5 minutes and handed them back to us simply saying that the shots were no good since they were administered in Mexico. He explained that it was city rules, or something to that extent, which I 100% understand and respect. But the way he treated us was really unbelievable, almost as if we had committed a crime. I was curious if somehow the shots could be validated by a veterinarian in San Diego, but he just kept sticking to the 'city rule'. No information at all, no customer service skills, no options, just did not want our business. I'm for sure not going to give my German Shepherd the same shots again here in the States, just so that I can board her in this camp. Rules are rules and it is what it is, but it is disappointing nonetheless. read more

We have been taking our two dogs here for a little over 2 years now. Always friendly, and always helpful staff! They know our dogs, and are always happy to see them. We have used the grooming services and could not be happier. Our large lab, usually hates to have his nails clipped, but apparently has no issue here!
