Stinky dog goes in, out comes a clean, flower smelling, sophisticated young lady acceptable to jump on the couch and bed. Usually they put a super cute seasonal bandana but my dog takes it off (not her style don't take it personally). I get scared to take my dogs to grooming parlors because of all the horror stories I've heard but I always feel good taking my baby here! The only thing is that sometimes they have too many dogs at once and it takes a little longer than expected to get my baby back which makes me a little sad. However, everything else makes up for this especially since the online appointment request is so convenient they call you within a day of submitting to confirm a date and time! I scheduled an appointment here because the reviews looked great and trustworthy. It turned out to be quite the opposite. I understand that I was late for my appointment so i called before hand to make sure it was still okay to come in. They said that it was fine, however it would take a longer time for my dog, which i didn't mind. When i brought him in 20 minutes after my appointment time they quoted me $110 for my dogs full bath and groom. They called me about and hour or two after i left, stating to me that they were only able to do my dogs bath services but not the cut because he "moves to much". I completely understand policy protocol because they did not want to cut his sensitive skin, however i believe that it was completely unprofessional of them to let me know after they already performed the bath. It felt like a waste of time and money! They ended up charging me $60 for just a bath and continued to state to me that it was because he moves too much and that a part of it was my fault for showing up late even though i called beforehand. For reference my dog is a 1 yr old puppy, who is good with people and other dogs. He doesn't bark or bite. I asked if i could get at least a discounted price because of the lack of communication and effort, in which they refused. I ended up finding another place around the area who did a wonderful job and told me that he didn't move to the point where they couldn't cut him. I love this place and so does my golden retriever. Everyone who works here is very sweet and professional. I appreciate how communicative they are. They send me text and call reminders for appointments and usually try to call half an hour before my blondie is ready for pick up. I ask them to use her regular shampoo, and they are always accommodating. They asked several questions about what my preferences for her trims are (feathers, tail, short or long, etc.). I'm not very picky when it comes to her haircuts, but I'm sure more fastidious pet parents will appreciate their attention to detail and willingness to please their clients. My only minor complaint is that they have been booked out weeks to a month in advance every time I've called. Since we do bathing at home and just need help with hair cuts and nail trims, this isn't an issue for us, especially since they have a good reminder system to help us remember we have an appointment. You may want to call well in advance if you are looking to make more regular visits. I've had success with the online appointment form before, but I've found calling in directly is most efficient since their availability can be low. P.s. One of my dogs needs to use a special shampoo, prescribed by my vet, that needs to stay on him for 5-10 minutes before washing off. Their grooming skills are great but now I'm questioning the sterilization of their equipment and perhaps even the technique. The last two times we took Thor to be groomed here, we have had to take him to the vet within 1-2 weeks (and yes, I have all the documentation to prove his veterinary visits) because the skin on his belly becomes aggravated. The first time we thought he had ring worm, which thankfully he did not. It was something we were able to treat with antiseptics. This last time we took him in because he developed about 3-5 scabs on his belly. The vet informed us that it could be because the groomer is running the warm/hot blade directly on his belly which then causes bacteria growth. The people here are sweet but two consecutive skin conditions after the groomers is too much of a coincidence. read more

Great experience for me and my Maltipoo Micky! In trying to find the best groomer for my little guy, I thought I would give them a try. I had tried the other groomers located on Palm Avenue (and they were "ok") but wanted to see if I would have a better experience with Urban Pet. Just from entering their salon, it was clean and had the feeling of a real "salon" unlike that other place. I also had the sense that I was dealing with more experienced groomers because there were other dogs there getting or recently gotten their groom on and they looked picture perfect! I was greeted by Karina and explained to her what I would like to have done. She explained what I wanted to the guy who was doing the grooming as he didn't speak English, but I didn't mind that because I could see he did BEAUTIFUL work and I was excited that he was going to be the one grooming my sweet little Micky. She detailed what I wanted in a work order and I left Micky in their capable hands. She called when he was 20 minutes from being finished. When I saw my little fur-baby, I had the biggest smile because he was ADORABLE! Clean, soft, smelled GREAT, nails cut shorter than the other place - which I much preferred - and had the CUTEST haircut! I was very pleased! He looked like a different pooch from when I dropped him off. I'd happily take him back to Urban Pet and their prices are comparable to that other place but Urban Pet even gave him a little bandana! Although I'm a fan of the actual grooming skills.... I've been extremely frustrated with the way they run their business They don't favor loyalty at all. I've been a loyal fan since they were new and have supported them, even sent several new clients as well as being one of their first yelp reviews. I would bring my dog every week for bath and brush. She's a very easy dog, good attitude and never tangled. But since they're more popular (it's gone to their head I think ) they never save an appointment for us. So now it's like every 2-3 weeks. They don't seem to care. They've also raised the prices to near double. And they don't finish on time, leaving you hanging... and then threatening to charge you for not being able to fetch your dog in 10 minutes. Bad news. I'm going to a different groomer now. One that appreciates my business. So, in conclusion, they're skilled but it's really hard to bring your dog here because they're disorganized and not nice about it.
