This is my first time ever checking out the local pet store. I love that they offer a variety of unique pet food brands. The brands they offer are dehydrated dog food, probiotic vitamin dog food, and other high performance brands at a reasonable price. I purchase dehydrated sweet potatoes slices for my German Shepherd and Frenchie. I decided to try Diamond Grain Free Wild Caught fish with sweet potatoes all life stages for only $30. They also sell toys, vests, collars, and clothes for cats and dogs. I had a positive experience with friendly staff helping out with selecting a brand. I highly recommend you check out this local pet store and support their unique business. read more

Finally made it to the OG IB Pet store! I've gone to all of them except this one! Out of all of them I want to say it is the cutest! HUGE frozen section, was able to find what I needed right away. As usual friendly staff that I've encountered at all their other locations here as well!!! It's deep in IB right by where the strand starts. Great parking lot with easy in and easy out access. Didn't take any pictures or video as we were kind of in a hurry trying to beat traffic to get back home but I WILL BE BACK! To explore the entire store with more time read more

UPDATE please read I won't change my review of this place because it's not their fault but watch out for the chews for your pet. My dog got extremely sick from a rabbit chew from this place and had to see an emergency vet. It didn't get lodged he chewed it fine but it must have some sort of bacteria on it and now he's on medication. Sometimes open box treats/chews. It's possibly salmonella so just be mindful of that. Also flys can transfer bacteria as well. Just an FYI. But to save anyone else possibly losing their pet or a very high vet bill I'd just avoid those. read more

I love our neighborhood pet store. My dog Barry gets so excited and runs up to the counter to get his treat. The staff is always super friendly and helpful. They make sure to do a special request for the dog food that Barry likes and calls me every month when it's ready. You can find anything you need at the store. read more

This is the first time I have been to IB pet and this place is impressive. Such a diverse selection of dog treats, chews, bones, frozen raw bones, raw food section and dry kibble! Sarah so Knowledgeable and she taught me a lot about different foods for my pups. While Imperial Beach is far from where I live, I was happy to find out that they have another location in La Mesa! I'm glad I checked this place out!! Good stuff! read more

I have had dogs my entire life. And now I have a 9-week-old Siamese kitten, her name is Kenya. First time cat owner, so needless to say I am overwhelmed because I didn't do my research and I knew what I was feeding her was just not good enough. I walked into this shop looking like a confused soul. I was immediately greeted by the cashier who was helping out two other customers and she noticed that I looked lost. She asked me if I had any questions. I just said "I am a first-time cat owner, I am looking to get my new kitten onto a full raw diet, and I don't know where to start. Or if it even the right move." She said to let her finish taking care of the two customer that were there and that I have come to the right place, she assured me that I was going to get setup with everything I needed and that doing this was the best thing I could possibly do for a new kitten. I was not prepared for the amount of knowledge that this person dropped on me for the next 5-10 minutes. She gave me a plan to transition, she told me everything I was doing wrong and how to fix it, she literally sounded so enthusiastic about what she was introducing to m, AND NOT ONCE did she make me feel like an idiot and was just so focused on getting me on the right path to give my new kitten a well-balanced raw diet. I literally trusted everything she was saying to me at that point. I would have bought the entire freezer if she told me to. I even wanted to buy a bit more, and she advised against it. She said to stick to plan with the raw nuggets into the wet food and the raw kibble, slowly add the raw chicken as I remove the more and more kibble, AND when I'm on the second half of my raw chicken I should be close to having Kenya on a full raw diet. She even said I will see you in a couple weeks. WOW. This is beyond customer service. These are people who love what they do, and they believe in what they sell. I am so grateful I drove by and decided to "check this place out." I have been on Yelp for many, many years. and not once have I cared enough or taken the time to right out a review. But this Store and all of its employees deserve a shout out. The owners must be very proud of the team they have put together. You have gained a lifelong customer in me. I will literally tell everyone I know about this place. this place will be my go-to for all my pet needs. read more

This store has a great selection of high quality products! From toys, to collars and great food! Prices are average but I do believe they price match. They also offer a military discount. Aside from the contents of the store, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable! I don't live close enough to frequent the store but when I'm in town I will definitely return! read more

IB Pet has everything you need and more! I love how caring all the staff I have interacted with have been. IB Pet carries a wide variety of quality dog and cat foods, snacks, treats and pet gadgets. My dog loves duck treats, duck toys and duck food- all of which they carry. I have also been a fan of buying bone marrow for my pup (they have a discount every Friday!). I also snagged a Mudbuster here; great product to clean my dog's paws, I use it daily before letting her crawl into bed at night. IB Pet should be the standard for small businesses everywhere. You can trust the products they have for your furry friend! Attached a pic of my dog Cherry, we stopped by for some limited ingredient dog frozen yogurt. read more

What an amazing service/care! Went in to get things for our new pet and this business ended up giving us a goody bag full of samples! They went beyond regular service and put together a package. Recently got a puppy so we were looking for the best pet stores in San Diego. I've passed by the IB pet in Chula Vista but decided to just drive the distance because it looked bigger. I've been trying to visit every best store I could because we moved to a small city where there's barely anything for my pup. When we got here, I immediately fell in love. It was definitely like disneyland for my pup. He was excited and started to sniff everything in sight and even the workers spoiled him with pets and rubs. I didn't catch her name but one of the ladies with a facial piercing was helping us and even gave us a great recommendation for a organic rawhide. I don't give my puppy rawhides cause they're awful for his stomach. She told me I could just hold it up to him and see which one he liked so we grabbed one. We also got him some toys because the pricing here is amazing! I was excited to see alot of the toys I've been eyeing online and they have a great selection. Some of the toys are even cheaper than amazon, how can you beat that?! I even appreciate how they give military discount. Super satisfied with our trip and I'll make the drive even if it's out of the way! Thank you so much IB Pet. My puppy loves the natural rawhide that we bought him another one! read more

Ive been coming to this pet store for at least 5-6 years now and I've been long overdue to write my review for this amazing pet store. I went in the last 15 min before closing on Monday and the girls that were working are extremely helpful and go out of their way to assist a customer. I always bring my fur babies with me, but since I was in a rush to get here before closing I couldn't :( When I came in to the store I was greeted by one of the girls her name is Isabelle. She also answered my questions about CBD dog cookies and gave me alternative options. I love that the employees here are so very friendly and have great customer service... they deserve 10 stars. In addition to their great service they also have the best deals TBH, I feel like I can find better quality in dog foods here for my fur babies then at bigger corporate pet stores. I will forever be a customer at this IB pets location!! read more

The folks at work here are the kindest people. I went in today to to buy some dog food but they don't carry it. However they can order it and it will be here next week. So for in the meantime they gave me some stuff to hold them over. How nice is that?! In addition their prices are extremely fair. I was able to get so many treats for my dogs. I'm so happy that this place is here I could literally cry tears of joy. If you have a dog this is where you need to come. read more

I search far and wide for a specific medicine for my two French bulldogs. I called all the major pet stores to include Petsmart and Petco and neither of them had what I wanted. I did my due diligence and research and unfortunately I had to buy the first medicine online however per the recommendation of the individual selling me the medicine he said to check my local pet stores which IB pets was. IB pets I found to be very Organized. The customer service reps were very knowledgeable and very friendly. I called the one in Chula Vista to no avail however I ended up going to the one in imperial Beach and they had the medicine and were very knowledgeable. I would definitely go back here. Don't forget to ask to see if you have any relevant discounts. Two days later my Frenchie is eating and drinking we picked up a bottle of goats milk and both of my frenchies loved it. read more

Support your local veteran-owned business, people! It's the right thing to do. Speaking of the right thing to do: I greatly appreciate their integrity. I am committed to feeding my pets a raw diet. And, as is sometimes is the case, the bag of Primal I picked up was freezer burned. I've been burned in the past by other stores who won't take responsibility for stock that wasn't up to snuff. No such problem here. No muss, no fuss, and a lovely staff that helped me get a great replacement in a hurry. Thank you for making it so easy to support your local mom & pop shop, IB Pet! read more

This place was recommended to me by my cousin. I have lived near here my whole life, and have never been here?!? Crazy. Anywhoosville-- This place is a great pet shop, with a good variety of quality foods, treats, toys, and supplies for your pup! My favorite thing is that they have decently priced hides, bones, etc. I like to get my Aussie a "special treat" every so often, and I typically buy them from Howlistic. I feel like IB Pet has a better selection, better prices, and overall WAY better customer service. I was greeted and helped by several different employees! It's cool because this place is right next to a groomer as well. I've never taken MY Dog there, but that may be a plus for other pup owners. My ONLY downside was they didn't have the things I needed for my turtle. They did have a small selection, but not his particular brand of food I always get him. Not a big deal for me at all. Will definitely return! read more

Being a tried and true cat person for over 30 years (we were a household of 5 cats), we are now a dog owner. Yep, all of our kitties led wonderful lives lives and now we have Twizzel. She's a rescue and it's been a fun change for us. Having said this, it's also a new learning curve and IBP Pet has helped us all the way. They've helped us transition from puppy food to adult dog food, we've learned how to deal with a Parsons terrier who loves chew toys, and helped us make the best choice for a dog who is super treat driven. Needless to say, IB Pet is the place for us and we highly recommend them for any pet owner who has a question or requests information regardless of experience. Each person working at IB Pet has always made sure we have all our questions answered and they live sharing in the joy of living with your favorite critter. read more

BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!! I bought this 'anti-bark' collar for my dog from them (kind of expensive). And it didn't work really well for my dog (he is not a constant barker, just occasionally). But, I called the manufacturer customer service and they recommended that I return it to IB Pet for a different model. So, I asked my son to return it for me and, three months later, I found it in his room. No box, no receipt. And IB Pet STILL took it BACK!! Such nice people, I will seriously never shop for my pet anywhere else!! read more

I honestly really like this place for the friendly staff and the large variety of products for pets. But lately there's been a couple times here that left a bad taste in my mouth and I feel like it's time to take my business elsewhere. About a month ago, I went in and was told the flea Advantage I use for my cats was out and was recommended Chesterin for Cats by the sales associate, saying it's almost identical, if not better. I briefly googled the product and didn't see anything immediate related to pet sickness/death. However, upon putting this product on my first cat, he immediately began vomiting profusely until I washed it off him after about 5-10 minutes. I then googled these symptoms with the name of the brand and saw an instance or two where these symptoms progressed into death, and that Chesterin for Cats was not FDA approved. I went back and explained it to the sales associate(not the same one that recommended it, this was the next day that I finally applied it). She let me know politely store policy was that any topical flea medication couldn't be refunded, especially if already used. She also mentioned due to the nature of my issue, to come back the next day and speak to the manager if I would like to continue with my refund. Throughout the night, my cat didn't show any extra signs of sickness and was fine so I blamed myself for not researching the product at let the issue drop. Today I went back for flea wash and spray for my puppy. My account was short $3 for the total, but instead of declining it all together, the merchant they use charged the money left in my account. The cashier voided the transaction and I had asked to just buy one product since I didn't have enough in my account. Then that transaction declined. Essentially I need to wait a few days before the merchant actually puts my money back in my account before I can buy flea medication for my dog, and it just sucks I'm gonna have to sit and watch her be irritated because of this. The sales associate was so polite and I don't see it in any way her fault, but the fact the money was taken out of my account without the transaction simply being declined is bad for business in my opinion. There's plenty of other pet stores I'm going to be taking my business to now because I've never experienced issues like this any where else, and when it comes to my pets and the money I use to take care of them, it doesn't seem to hold much value to IB pet if I go somewhere else, anyways. All in all, they should review the products they decide to carry and have the sales associates recommend as replacements to actually FDA approved products, as well as just training their staff better in regards to dealing with situations with their merchant services, because something didn't go right there. read more

This place is awesome. The employees are so helpful and they have a variety of alternative diets. I started feeding my pet raw food due to a medical condition and was able to return one unopened bag and another bag that had been used slightly after my pet was unable to eat that food any longer due to advancement of the medical condition. The staff even said they would call me to update me about an arrival of a new shipment of a special food for my pet. This place is awesome I have taken my dog there a couple times and they really know there stuff. My dog is problematic with other dogs so she'll bark at them but if we are alone in the store she loves it walks around sniffing everything they have a water bowl and treats for dogs. But above all else I've gotten amazing advice and help from everyone who works there, things I wouldn't assume a generic cashier would know, they really care, reasearch and LOVE animals. It is a bit pricyer than like your target or perssmart but absolutely worth it. My dog has love every item they have ever suggested and she can be a very picky princess. Thanks ladies! read more

This review is long overdue. This place is AMAZING!! I will never go to another pet store as long as I help help it. The staff & owners are great, friendly, & knowledgable. They are never pushy & when I am not sure if my dog will like what I'm buying they always let me know I can bring it back. I love that they carry all USA made products! What a great store! And in a very unexpected location! But don't let the location fool you-- it seems a little off the beaten path, but this is a top-notch pet supply. If you like Kahoots or Pet Haus or Petco Unleashed, IB Pet will be a welcome alternative for you if you're in the South Bay area. Well worth the drive! The selection is great, they only carry quality product lines (like Primal, Canidae, Orijen, etc) and the prices are as good as you'll find at the chain stores. This is a family-owned local business, so I encourage you to give them a shot to earn your business-- you'll be happy you did. And if you're dog is as spoiled rotten as mine is, your pup will thank you, too! Oh, and thanks to Catalina for the great service. Well done! read more

This place is AMAZING! I don't think I have any bad things to say. I've been buying my pet supplies here for years. This is a top-notch pet supply store. The staff is amazingly friendly and welcoming, and they are quite knowledgeable on their products. So far, they have: helped me set a feeding plan for both my dog and cat (my dog was underweight and has gained 15 pounds, now at his healthy weight); helped me choose grooming products and taught me the basics (I no longer take my dog to the groomers but he lets me do everything at home); and helped me get safe flea products and head off an infestation. They have taken time to answer my questions (and believe me-i ask a LOT) and really empower me as a pet owner. Beyond the service, their selection is awesome. Mostly (if not all) natural and high quality products at fair prices. They even had fish and chin chilla supplies And I LOVE their selection of doggo treats by the register I love going to this pet store, and encourage you to go next time you need anything!:) read more

It is no wonder they have straight 5 stars.. Been coming here for over 7 years and it just occurred to me to review them love the staff and products - it's really about quality food and supplies for pets. Staff totally honest with deep knowledge of what they sell. Low turn over- some of the staff been here I think 5 plus years - that says a lot for a local retail business. A business and sound great product is dead without people. People in the customer facing side and behind makes the things happen. You've been in business this long and even expanded to Chula Vista! (Off 805/telegraph folks - spread the word to your friends/family in CV!!) IB pet, may the Lord bless and multiply what you are doing and use it to inspire your values in other people who work in retail and own businesses. We come here to get our dog food mainly because it's one of the only places that carries decent dog food but BEWARE the young red head if you ask for any for assistance and choose a path that isn't ALL NATURAL ORGANIC HIPPIE.
