Ambience: Don't be fooled by the humble decor and minimalist building. It is a small and local business with great groomers and service!! Service: My dogs first time was smooth! Although she is generally well behaved, I feel the groomers and front desk gentleman love the dogs and he was so welcoming. I unfortunately just texted for a "grooming " session but he was able to accommodate me for a haircut which I really appreciate!! When you pick the cut, they can show you a laminated paper with the thickness of the cut of the dog for examples on how short the hair would end up being... labeled 1-5 (5 being the longest hair) . That's super helpful! But I would highly recommend just bringing a photo of the cut you want for your dog bc the groomers will be able to do that style to a tee. I originally picked a blade cut #3 bc I was not sure but ended up showing them a picture of her previous cuts and they advised me it would be #4. When I picked up my pup, she was very calm and although generally well behaved, that does tell me she liked the service and was not scared about being there. Overall, the front desk and grooming service was top notch. When I picked up my fur baby, she smelled soooo good but not an over the top perfume smell. I loved the way the groomers did the style on her! They also give her a little bandana to take home heh. Appointments: very easy to book, they tend to be busy but do always call you back or text back to help you out. They look up your breed to make sure they know temperament and obviously fur texture etc. Price: Honestly, I think their prices are more affordable and for such amazing service that you get. Overall, I paid about $72 including tip for my 11 lb Klee Kai. Typically I see prices at $70 minimum around San Diego for her small size. This all included the bath, anal gland cleaning, ear cleaning, nail trim and a haircut ... and ofc 20% tip. I would recommend a #4 blade for dogs like mine with a double coat and long thin straight hair like that of a Husky. Support this local business bc they are wonderful at their service read more

We took our dog Cleat yesterday to The Dandy Dog for the first time after always going to PetSmart on Main St. The Dandy Dog is so close to our house so we decided to try them out. We are glad we made that decision. They did an excellent and thorough job with our Shepard who was shedding so much. Dandy Dog was also able to clip his nails with no issues. We adopted a new puppy. She needed grooming so I called this place took us in right away. Explained to them we just recently adopted her and she was a stray. When we picked her up she had all kinds of nicks and cuts. If they were professionally trained they would know how to handle any dog. We are still dealing with the cut they made on her forehead. Okay, after reading some of the reviews before I was a little hesitant on bringing my babies here. It's 4th of July weekend and I didn't realize until I called on the 3rd of July, no answer (holidays) so I left a voicemail describing my dogs (breed, weight and brief description of what I wanted done to them) they give me a call back July 5th and even have me the same day availability and the very next day. I was surprised because a few reviews said they called and didn't hear back at all. (Doesn't deserve a 1 star review in my eyes because you didn't receive a service, don't argue with me, argue with ya momma if you disagree). ANYWAYS, boyfriend answered the call and spoke with a guy on the phone and he described how the process would work, you drop your pup off, leave your name and phone number and they'll give you a call when your fur babies are ready, super simple & super easy! Fast forward to day of appointment: so upon arrival, I meet Armando and he comes from behind the counter to greet Max (corgi) & Luca (basset) and already remembers their names and gets down to their level to meet and interact with them. Luca is really nervous as this is her very first professional grooming appointment, so her tails tucked and she ends up peeing in the lobby when Armando puts the lead leash on her, but he handles the situation so well! He takes her to go get ready for her bath and he grabs Max next (he's used to grooming)! By the time max goes to the back, I already see Luca in the bath with one of the groomers (: Armando tells me the next steps and I get going. About an hour later, Armando calls that they are ready for pick up. I go pick them up and both of them are so happy and bouncy and I know they feel so good, clean and happy! After talking with Armando for a bit, you can tell that he enjoys his job and cares for pups! The atmosphere with him and the groomers is just feeling like I'm leaving them with family. And this is off FIRST VISIT! He gave me a run though on how my pups did, gave me them first before even mentioning payment & even let me go put my pups in the car first. My girl brings her 2 little dogs here & they always do a great job & very affordable. I've been bringing her Yorkie & Maltese here for awhile now. It's not that old of a place, it's a little mom & pop self owned Grooming dog shop, kind of hidden in Chula Vista but nice. The owner is very nice & good at what she does my dogs right away go to her, you can tell she's a dog lover & dogs love her. Well for about a year now we've been bringing my girl's little dogs here & I got a 85lbs Golden Retriever that I usually go to a place in National City but it's kind out of my way. So today I took my boy here & wow, I was really impressed. They did a great job, he looks & smells great & very affordable & they got Flea Shampoo if you're dog needs it & they always wrap a little bandana around you're doggie when their done. And the best part is their fast! Yes it can be busy at times (make an appointment) but for the most part their done within 3 hours or less, which is good because most places take longer. And they don't use kennels which I like. It is cash only so make sure you got you're cash ready. Don't let the neighborhood or location stop you from coming here, it really is a great Grooming place for dogs. I'll be bringing my 85lbs beast here more often, he loved it & so do I! I had been searching for a groomer to take my dog to and came upon The Dandy Dog. It was her first time going to a groomers and Armando (the owner), explained to me that it could be a little challenging but they squeezed me into an appointment the next day. I was a little nervous because it being her first time and she did get a little aggressive. Armando explained that one of their very experienced groomers, Mariana, was able to work with her. We came up with a plan so that she gets used to being in the environment. I am very happy with the service provided and the experience. What can I say other than DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER! !!! I made an appointment a few days in advance to make sure our new adopted puppy, Scooby, would be able to get groomed this weekend. I spoke with the owner and she was so sweet when talking with me about my puppy. I made the appointment and we were set to take Scooby in at 10am, March 26. When my boyfriend and I drove to the shop, we didn't know what to expect. Yes, it's a bit small and doesn't have a lot of decoration, but the ladies that were grooming the puppies were very sweet and reassured us that Scooby would be in good hands. Since Scooby is a bigger pup she said it'd take about 1hr and 30mins. No biggy, we had a few errands to run. When we came back to pick up Scooby we had a very happy puppy on our hands! He was a rescue and smelled a little bit more outdoorsy than we'd like, but after his grooming he smelled wonderful, his fur was fluffy, his nails were nicely trimmed and he was a tail wagging smiling puppy! I asked if they would have any availabilities for our other small puppy, Kato. She was so nice that we were able to bring in Kato an hour later. Kato is very skittish and doesn't like getting groomed, especially by new people. The groomer was careful and very loving so that Kato wouldn't be so afraid. I came back in an hour and Kato was a smiley fluffy ball cuteness!! I would highly recommend The Dandy Dog to anyone looking for a groomer. Very kind and wonderful people and to top things off the prices are awesome! We paid $25 for our Lab/Shar Pei (Scooby) and $15 for our Chihuahua/Terrier (Kato). read more

If i could leave a zero star believe i WOULD, I brought my dog Molly in for a hair cut. As we normally do, we've been clients for a while now. However this time when we picked her up we noticed she was acting a bit off, we thought it just because of the hair cut. However fast forward a few days later, she stops eating, no longer has energy to do anything. Unfortunately yesterday morning she did pass away, the vets told us she most definitely did catch a virus while she was there that affected her gums which then led to affecting her bloodstream, I now have another dog of mine who has caught the same thing thankfully I already was aware of the symptoms and was able to take her in the vet to get treated. I think it's terrible how this place allows animals with kind of vaccination record to come in not knowing the dangers and such heart break it will cause to the other clients there, SO PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS IF COMING TO THIS PLACE. read more
