We have a rescued Yorkiepoo who is extremely anxious and skittish. Other than us, Kiki will not let anyone else touch or pet her, let alone groom her. We tried to take her to a groomer once but you could hear Kiki literally screaming as if she were being tortured all the way down the block so we never took her again. I have had to groom her myself at home since rescuing her 3 years ago. I had no idea how to do this but we had no choice. We have had to take her to the vet to have her nails clipped and they have to muzzle her and sometimes even use anesthesias just to do a nail trim. We heard that Kim at KM Dog Grooming specialized in grooming special needs dogs like Kiki. We were skeptical but decided to give it a try as Kiki has hair that mats very easily and very much needed professional grooming. To say we were thrilled with the successful outcome is an understatement. Kim really is a "dog whisperer". She kept Kiki for over six hours, to let her get used to Kim's place and then to slowly get Kiki to trust her before bathing and grooming her. Unlike the vet, Kim did not want Kiki to be muzzled or sedated. and she does not put her in a cage. When we picked Kiki up, I could see through the window that Kim was petting her and doing the final trimming of her hair and Kiki just stood there very calmly and let her do it. I couldn't believe it! And Kiki looked adorable. Kim told me I did not need to groom Kiki anymore myself. She was happy to become her permanent groomer. This is such a huge relief and we are very thankful to Kim. read more

I love this grooming place. How amazing is it to know your loved one isn't in a cage for hrs! The employees are all amazing and so sweet. I've been taking my dogs here for years, I wouldn't go anywhere else. They truly care for your fur babies. They remember your pet and greet them with love everytime I drop them off. One of my babies passed away suddenly and the staff sent me a card and some pics of my baby, you know they really care about our babies to go out of their way to do something like that. Great prices and friendly staff, my dogs never seemed scared when I'd drop them off, they loved it here! read more

Best dog groomer in South Bay of San Diego! KM is owned by Kaoru (Kay) Nakajima. Kaoru knows dogs inside and out. She knows exactly how to interact with dogs (think Caesar from The Dog Whisperer) and will get even the most stubborn dogs squeaky clean! I foster dogs with rescue shelters, and every dog that I pick up from the shelter always looks like a mop when I first get them. Then, when Kaoru is done with them, they look like a completely different dog! My mom is the one who first discovered KM - she wanted to find a groomer in Chula Vista for our long-haired Maltese. Kaoru was amazing and for 5 years straight, my family's Maltese went to her once a week. She always got a cute puppy cute and had trimmed no-fuss nails. Another plus, Kaoru is a bilingual Japanese/English groomer. This may not seem like a big deal, but for the somewhat large Japanese population in South Bay, it can be a lifesaver. read more

Don't dare book here unless you want to wait in her forever, with no communication like comcast trats you....i took off work middle of day to meet her, i sat at home 2 hours WAITING for her to arrive as promised 115pm to 215pm...NEVER ARRIVED and didnt text or communicate until 220pm...terrible customer service and didn't offer to rebook or discount services for another date until may 19th....45 days later....my time is very valuable as is hers and she doesn't care...i wouldn't let her touch my dog now if thats her attitude. read more

Miss Kay does great work! I researched a bunch of local places and KM had the best ratings and reviews. Called in & tried to make an appointment last week & they were full. I tried again yesterday & I got lucky. They were able to see my next day! I was thrilled! Anyway I have nothing but good things to say about KM. Miss Kay is so gentle & loving while interacting with my dog(Gordo). Gordo was definitely nervous to stay I've never dropped him off like that anywhere. She knew exactly how to interact with him. Anyway I won't lie Gordo needed a lot of work done. So much hair he couldn't even see. Once I picked him up, WOW! I didn't even recognize him. I am extremely impressed and will continue to come here! I actually found out about this place when I was with my dog, GIANT, shopping at petsmart. (He was still a puppy at that time.) A couple came up to me asking to pet my dog and we just started talking. Turns out they had two yorkies of their own and highly suggested KM grooming to me! So, as soon as my dog was up to date with all his shots, I decided to give them a call. I've been going to them since! My dog is about to be nine years old! I would not take GIANT anywhere else! Groomer got a lot of water in dogs ear and now she has a nasty yeast infection. When I spoke to "K" about the issue, she said there was nothing she could do and water isn't a problem in a dogs ear. Vet and medicine bills on top of $50 grooming fee. Do yourself a favor: go somewhere else. read more
