This place deserves to be shut down. Don't believe any of the 5 star reviews that this place has. We just picked up our dog today and he did not look the same as how we dropped him off. Our dog looks like he has been locked up with no water and was just left alone. When we brought our dog home, he wasn't able to walk, mood was totally different, and drank 4 bowls of water. As I am writing this, our dog is still laying down and drinking water that way too. Please do not do business with this place!!!! read more

I have mixed review about this place. Good and bad. I boarded my golden retriever and cat here twice. The place is a little tricky to find. I missed the turn the first time. Maybe a better sign would definitely help. The first boarding was in January 2018 for two weeks. The place was clean and looked well maintained. When I picked them up, they were clean and looked like they were well taken care of, although the place smelled bad. It seemed like I came during their cleaning time. The second time I board them, was in March 2018 for just 2 days. When I pick them up, my pets were dirty and my cat looked considerably stressed. My cat smelled bad and had dry up urine on his back leg and dried up feces around his back side. My cat has good grooming habit and never smelled bad, so I don't know what happened during that 2 days that my cat ended up in that condition. My dog came home with ticks. Very disappointed with the second time boarding. They might be understaffed since it was Easter holiday weekend (which they charged $5 more per pet per day). I hope they can improve their service so other people won't have bad experience like I UPDATE: I want to thank the manager Zak who called me today and offer to remedy the situation regarding my dog. I appreciate it and it shows that they really do care about their customers and willing to reach out and address my concern. Regarding my cat, I believe that the stress caused him to not properly groom himself thus led to more stress. I can't really fault camp schultz, especially if my cat was being difficult. I do wish to find a solution to ease him when boarding him, so he won't be so stressed. I would return again and I recommend that you give them a try. Camp Schultz was referred to us by Dennis Dollar. Dennis is a breader of Barrister Beagles. He stated there is only one place in San Diego County he would recommend taking his dogs to and that place is Camp Schultz. After we checked out Camp Schultz, we had to agree. The place is staffed well and the facility is very clean. We left our beagle there for a couple of hours to see how she would do. Today I brought her in for an overnight stay, it is like the empty house syndrome. This week we are going to leave her for a month. We absolutely love Camp Schultz and recommended it to everyone who has a dog.  They came highly recommended by our breeder from Los Angeles and we started our golden retriever puppy, Kacey, there when she was about 7 months old for day care and training once a week.  Kacey loves going there and bolts out of the car to just get in!  The staff and owners take great pride in their business and care about all dogs in their care and the facilities are very clean and tidy.  If you have a puppy and want to just socialize your pup in a safe environment, this is the place. We are not huge dog park fans but socializing our puppy was very important to her development so this was the perfect solution.  They have play groups with similar sized dogs and the groups are monitored during the play group - so essential for a dog's development and socialization. They also provide training, walking, grooming services and boarding for your dog which we have used and also highly recommend. The owners of Camp Schultz have created an amazing environment for dogs and we can't thank them enough! read more

I REALLY love Camp Schultz. This is an overdue review for them as I've been a frequent customer for probably about six years now. My two dogs are so loved by the staff and are excited to go each visit. Zach runs the office and he has always demonstrated outstanding customer service, is accommodating and flexible. I can walk in and Zach knows exactly what I want for my dogs. The prices are very reasonable and affordable. If you haven't looked on their webpage at the pricing and packages for an additional cost for the Pampered Pooch add-on, do it and really consider spending the extra few dollars on your pup because it is worth it.... Pampered Pooch offers a little extra TLC and an exit bath. Camp Schultz also has a groomer and she is AMAZING! My husky comes home so fresh and clean, she looks beautifully groomed each time. Be sure to inquire at the front desk for the groomers availability and grooming services. I am able to enjoy my time away knowing they are in good hands at Camp Schultz. read more

i have a 1 year old doberman i just boarded over the weekend and im a little bummed writing this considering the reviews are actually really good. i boarded my dog for 3 days over the weekend, at check in it was pretty streamline i asked for an email update or a picture of him for his stay in the 2nd day the girl checking me in said that's ok, i also asked for one of their group playtimes as well as a one on one with a caretaker. my dog is very high energy so i thought these spread out through his stay would be good and he'd come home happy and tired from his stay. At check out i realized i wasn't billed out for any of these so i assumed they never did any playtimes with him and i never got that email update for him either. i asked multiple times to see his kennel and they said this wasn't allowed i had to wait in the parking lot for his drop off and pick up which struck a red flag considering i have worked in pet boarding for 4+ years. i was like ok and didn't press further. when i picked him up this morning he was extremely dusty (no more shine on his coat and i could pat dirt off) and a little bit of fecal matter all over his hind legs in small pieces. i wiped him off when he got in the car and just thought it was mud maybe he tipped his water bowl but the towel i wiped him off with was dirty with fecal matter. im not sure if his kennel was cleaned properly since i didn't have any pictures or got to see it. i unfortunately can't recommend this place as my dogs 3 day stay, he came back very anxious and very dirty. read more

The employee who received us is very courteous and helpful. The check in and check out were quick. Although an issue we have is that in both times we brought our dogs they both came home with diarrhea and were vomiting. I don't think they followed our feeding instructions. If pets are not sensitive to diet change, I will recommend this kennel. Otherwise go somewhere else. read more

We are visiting San Diego for 3 weeks and needed a daycare and boarder for my 2 fur babies. Camp Shultz is right down the road from the park where we are camping. This review only covers their Pet Grooming Services; Beware! I brought in my dogs to get pet groomed (It was my first and last time using their services). The staff that greeted us upon arrival were nice enough, so nothing out of the ordinary when dropping of the dogs. When we picked up our dogs, they were just butchered. One of my dogs has a bald spot on the top of her head (like Friar Tuck) and got a haircut that we didn't even ask for (no direction was followed). We had a friend pick up our dog as we were coming home that night, and they first brought her the wrong dog. I called them prior to let them know the name of said friend, but they didn't ask her any questions and just gave her my dog. INSANE. Should have more security. Not impressed. Dog was there for 3 days. He was to be cut and groomed. I left a small dog bed with him. When they brought him out, the smell of urine was overpowering. I had to ask for his meds, his bed and his food three separate times. People were friendly, but this place has sketchy written all over it. I threw out the bed, but he still has the smell. Guess I will drop another 60 at Petsmart. They said he was a good dog on the report card. But I don't trust this place. read more

This place is great! One of the best places I've taken my pup to daycare hands down. I have known about this place for some time because I live around the area - so when I finally decided to take my dog in - I realized "why didn't I take him here sooner?!" Zach and the staff are so friendly and professional. He took me on the tour to check out the facility and gave me some great information. I checked out the other dogs who were in the facility at the time and all seemed very friendly. The property itself was huge - plenty of space for your pup to run around. They will even feed your pup their meal free of charge (I usually bring in my dog's food since I drop him off so early in the morning). It bugs me when some places charge an extra fee to feed your pet - does it really cost extra to put some food in a bowl? Come on. The best thing about this place is their prices. Compared to other daycares their prices are really fair. If you buy 5 packages the 6th one is free! How can you beat that. Prices vary on the weight of your dog. So the bigger your dog is the more it is - but, again, compared to other daycare facilities you can't beat it. The other great thing is that my dog didn't come back dirty or didn't smell when I picked him up! Big plus. Don't have to worry about brushing him or wiping him down (except for his paws) when I get home. I have a 75 pound fluffy Golden Retriever so you can imagine the amount of dirt he tracks in. But not after a day at Camp Shultz. After I pick Charlie up he always comes home tired and ready to pass out - which is what I aim for. So you know he had a good time at daycare. I'm definitely taking Charlie back frequently - especially during those long work days instead of having him cooped up at my house. I'm so glad I found Camp Schultz - thank you again! read more

Extremely disappointed with Tara, the owner who supposedly no longer grooms any dogs. I scheduled an appointment a couple of weeks ago and specifically requested Tara who had done an awesome job with my dog previously. He's a rescue who's extremely nervous and she told me that she would groom him going forward. I showed up for the appointment a couple of weeks ago and she was too busy to groom him. After returning to the States from a tour overseas, my husband and I had to visit with all the family. I think it's an unwritten rule, actually. One of these visits meant going to Texas. Since we'd just completed a 15-hour flight with both of our dogs, we didn't want to put them through that stress again, and opted instead to board them. Camp Schultz, at the time, was the closest and best priced. Now, almost a year later, I plan on going back to Camp Schultz, even though Bonita is a little out of my way. The price is a big plus, I won't lie, but I was overall impressed with the facilities, how warm the staff was, and how happy my dogs seemed. Buddy and Hiro can tend to be my shadows, and tend to get separation anxiety when left alone. I knocked one star off only because my dogs were absolute live wires when I picked them up, almost like they hadn't gotten to go out and play that day. I paid a little extra so they could get some one-on-one human time, but they acted like they would if I had just gotten home from work after a day alone. Speaking of: I also think it's a tad bit sketch that they charge you extra for things like "belly rub, cuddle time or a walk or play time". I can understand the reasoning, since I'm sure they have a lot of business and can't give affection to everyone equally, but it still brings to mind the idea that my dogs are locked up in a dog run all day and only get their five minutes of belly rubbin' if I fork out the extra cash. What a great place! My dog, Roxy, has so much fun here. I feel she is safe and has fun every time she stays. She has stayed up to 2 weeks straight and I know she is getting the care she needs. I usually have her groomed the day I get back. Lisa is a great groomer and loves Roxy. I am so happy I found this place. We brought our pug pup, Tobie, to stay at Camp Schultz for 10 days while we went on vacation and It was a relief knowing that he would be taken good care of while we were gone. I picked him up this morning and he was bursting with energy, but yawning by the time we got in the car. He must have had an exhausting morning... I chose Camp Schultz because there seemed to be lots of interaction and playtime with staff and other dogs. Plus, the price of boarding is pocket friendly compared to others in the area. I got a tour of the facility and was impressed by how clean and organized it was. We had the option to bring his own blanket, food, toys, and treats to make his stay more comfy, which we did. I also had peace of mind knowing that there is staff that lives on the property in a separate house in front of the kennel building. The staff was very friendly and seemed genuinely interested in how my boy was doing. We were also given a report card to tell us how he did during his stay. Overall, I was really impressed with Camp Schultz and would definitely want to bring Tobie back, even just for daycare. read more

The one thing I always dreaded about going out of town was boarding my dogs. And since I occasionally have to travel for work, this was a major concern for me. A friend recommended Camp Schultz and I gave them a try. I have boarded my dogs there 7 or 8 times over the past two years and I no longer worry about them. I can tell they like it there. Last time I dropped them off, they pushed open the front door and let themselves in. They would not have done that if they weren't excited to be there. When I drop the boys at Camp Schultz I know they will be safe and well taken care of. This allows me to concentrate on my work without worries. Do not board here! Our very kind, sweet dog was bitten here. When they contacted us they were not honest and did not tell us he needed stitches and did not even know which one of our dogs was injured. We cut our vacation short to rush back and at first they refused to let us pick up our dog. They never apologized or gave us a clear picture of what happened to our dog. read more

Camp Schultz is my go to pup boarding place for my Bernadoodle. My aunt also uses them for her weekend trips for her Boxer pup. We took a tour of the place and were happy to find that the pups are allowed to roam free in the yard several times a day to stretch and play. My pup also climbs fences so I'm glad to know that she will be well cared for in my absence. :) I'm very happy with Camp Schultz thus far. read more
