I'm a happy returning customer after ~10+ years. Highly recommended. Call ahead, this place is a local hot spot.

This place rocks. I loved the whole experience. Just wish I could have shared the amazing meal with someone. Visited while on business trip. Pistachio-encrusted Pork medallions, cheesey posole, veggies and tomatoe bisque. Every bite was delicious. Yum!! read more

On the way to Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, and chose this place for lunch with help from Yelp. My wife ordered the green chile chicken salad and raved about how good it tasted. I ordered the Turkey Herder sandwich with cole slaw as the side. This sandwich was very good, but I scraped off the Fireball-grilled onions. I just didn't like the flavor. The cole slaw, however, was creamy and tasted quite good. I wanted the key lime cheesecake, but had no room for it, maybe next time in Montrose. read more

Montrose is a 6 hour drive from home for us. We visited Camp Robber in 2018, and were so impressed that we returned last week while traveling. It was a Friday evening, they were busy, but we were seated immediately. Everyone from the hostess to our server was beyond friendly and accommodating. The food was fabulous (a shrimp quesadilla for me, Thai peanut pasta with chicken for my husband). We had a chance to chat with the manager (I believe, she's been there for 13 years), who we met and chatted with last year. It was a perfect experience in every way. Passing through Montrose, CO? Be sure to stop here. read more

We were in town for a wedding and needed to grab lunch before the ceremonies later in the afternoon; the hotel recommended Camp Robber and we're glad they did. We went in on a Thursday at lunch time and the place was busy, but we were seated quickly and had our drinks delivered just as quick. The menu has something for everyone, our party had an entree' salad, shrimp quesadilla and fish & chips; all of us enjoyed our food. The food was well prepared and quite flavorful, perfect portions; not too much, not too little! The staff was friendly and efficient! If we ever find ourselves back in Montrose, we will be back. read more

I've been coming here for years especially for the Sunday brunch. The waffles are the BEST and are crispy, I recommend the cinnamon butter with it. The "benies" are a new addition to the menu. I've tried the crabby bene and it was delicious! Lunch and dinner are consistently good. I can't remember ever having poor service here. A must stop for Montrose! read more

Every aspect, from the service to my local beer, rolls and entre are perfect! I enjoyed a 2 Rascals Amber and rosemary chicken linguine, which was divine. My husband reluctantly shared his stuffed portobello salad, which was delightful. He said his dinner was THE best salad he has ever tasted. We will definitely be back every... Great spot to eat! The elk burger is very good and my wife had the buffalo chicken wrap and they were also top notch. We were in a group of 13 and they were very accommodating and did a great job keeping everyone happy! read more

We went to visit the Black Canyon of the Gunnison and figured we probably wouldn't have any food options out here but we were stoked to find this place! We ordered a vegan salad and vegan jackfruit tamales and both were delicious. The tamales weren't on the menu but they offered them to us when we called. The server seemed to actually understand what vegan was and even offered suggestions. We called the order in and it was ready within 15 minutes. Good food, good service, would eat here again. read more

Honestly, best restaurant I've been too. Awesome and friendly service, pretty fast, and amazing food! I swear this was one of the best burgers I've ever had. You can tell everything is made fresh and it all tastes amazing. If I lived here, this would be my go to dinner place. read more

I had a delicious and fast lunch. When we explained to the server that our group was in a bit of a rush, she responded well and managed to get us in and out in just under 45 minutes. The best two dished we had where the grilled salmon cilantro and the applewood bacon and apricot grilled cheese. The salmon was grilled to perfection and served with a tasty sauce on al dente pasta. The grilled cheese was flavorful and served with well sweet potato fries. If I am ever in town again, I will be dinning here. read more

I wanted to share with you the fact that we had an absolutely delightful dining experience with you last night. We were served by Stacia, and she was just top notch, especially given the number of tables that she was serving. Outstanding job picking the good ones, Camp Robber. We'll see you soon! read more

What a fantastic place in Montrose!! From the moment we walked in we were created as one of the family with smiles and genuine hellos. Deanne was our waitress and we loved her! She was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We had the red curry pasta which had a great curry flavor, but needed a bit of salt to bring it out more. The potato soup was amazing and is a definite must have! We will be back for sure!! read more

I was only in Montrose for a short trip, but wanted to check out this restaurant after seeing a mention in AAA Colorado's July/August magazine, and checking out the interesting menu. While placing a take-out order, the staffer I spoke with recommended the chicken parmesan spinach salad... which was amazing. The spinach and strawberries were of the farmer's market variety, not store bought, and the salad wasn't too huge and it hit the spot. Also, when I picked up my order, I could see that the staff and restaurant are following public health protocols. That is really important to me. read more

Very few establishments were open the day we went here. I had wanted to go here for a few years, living just to the north but not getting to the area very often. I liked the name. We went for lunch. The interior was nice and well-kept. Our waitress was okay. I think she was trying her best. She forgot my husband's iced tea, but when she remembered, she brought it out. Then he had a hard time getting a refill. Maybe it was the group of 8 she was also waiting on. My husband had the nachos. They were not much to his liking. I had a bison burger. I ordered mozzarella, but they put mushrooms on it. They fixed it in no time, and I enjoyed it. I don't know if I'd go back. We had to wait too long for someone to notice we were there. The waitress wasn't the friendliest. Meh... read more

Not from the area so looking for something other than fastfood. Great atmosphere. Waited a bit longer than hoped for initial service but the food far made up for it. If we are ever back through we'll be back. read more

Went there last night with my wife and daughter. Were seated right away by friendly hostess and within seconds our waitress came by. Restaurant was Not overly busy however they we're pretty full. From the appetizers to the dessert everything was cooked to perfection and the vegetables were tasted very fresh. I had the rib eye with blue cheese cooked to perfection. My wife had the chipotle wrap and my daughter had a buffalo burger. All of us were very happy at the same restaurant which doesn't always happen. The best part was our service. I eat out a couple times a week in a metro area. The waitress we had was the best waitress I have had in years. I don't remember her name but she had an asian word tattooed on her right arm. I will eat at camp robber anytime I am in Montrose. Well worth the trip. read more

We came in for my daughters birthday in mid March. For some reason my original review didn't post. I believe our servers names was DeAna. She was perfect. I have severe allergies--to the point of anaphylaxis. I told her my allergens and she made 100% certain I wasn't served anything that could kill me. I work in the service industry and I have a VERY high standard for excellence. She hit every point, and did so with grace. Thank you ma'am. read more

I had never eaten here though I had heard a lot about it. I was given a gift card so a couple friends and I went. I had fish and chips which was very well prepared and quite good. One friend had a salad and the other one had Mexican. I will definitely be back one day. read more

Well we had dinner there last night! And it was just so-so!!! The staff was very good and so was the decor. My husband had a basic hamburger and he said it was very good but I cannot have any of his homemade potato chips because they had a spicy seasoning on them and I cannot do spicy!!! I had Chicken Marsala which was nothing and I mean nothing I've ever had before! First I couldn't even taste any Marsala and the small piece of chicken on top was dry! It was served in a bowl of penne pasta, in a sauce with mushrooms and spinach and tiny tomatoes! When they served it I thought it was a salad! She said well that's the way we do it here!! I didn't have my camera or phone with me, so therefore no picture! I would never order that again!! And everything seemed to have some kind of hot sauce or ? On it! We were there for an out of town wedding and it was recommended! read more

Too bad Camp Robber has went downhill in the past was a go to place in Montrose for a good margarita or cold beer and great chili rellenos or blue corn enchiladas. Opted for nachos this time and waited about 30 minutes for them. Menu says homemade chips but you can buy them at Safeway any day. Don't say homemade if you don't carry though with it. Bartender offered a drink for the wait but then charged me anyway. No wonder the place was nearly empty, good atmosphere so I hope they can turn things around. read more

I was in Montrose for a 2-week conference that provided lunches. One of the lunch days our food was catered by Camp Robber. The food was outstanding. So much so, in fact, that after hours, nearly everyone attending the conference decided to go here for dinner. The food was amazing! I would absolutely go back again. read more

It was a long day hiking and exploring Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. We were excited for a delicious and filling dinner and found Camp Robber listed on the suggestions from our hotel so we ventured over around 6:30 pm on a Saturday evening. The first thing I noticed was that the parking lot was full - it was looking like we were in for a delicious dinner! We walked in and there were a few parties waiting, so I walked up to the desk to ask about the wait but instead was taken aback by the lady asking directly..."Name?", "Number?". I gave her the info, forgot about the wait time and had to wait a few more minutes until she came back to ask her. The wait was supposed to be about thirty minutes, so my party and I decided to wait. She had originally asked to sit in a little bench area, but I noticed a nearby bar instead so went to ask if we could sit there. She said she would find us, and eventually did. Although I was slightly surprised by the greeter's demeanor upon walking in, I just chalked it up to being busy around the dinner rush. We first visited the bar, where we spoke with and were served by a kind bartender. Service was prompt and they had a wide variety of wine, beer and spirits. We paid for our tab at the bar, but he said he would gladly transfer them to our table if we wanted. The wait was nowhere near thirty minutes and we were seated about ten minutes later at a booth in the main dining room. Our waitress was kind, attentive and even asked the bartender what our drinks were so she could get refills quickly. We placed an order for the Crispy Flatbread appetizer and it was delicious! Then came out the homemade biscuits which had a little kick - surprising but very good - I wish they were endless (actually no, I wouldn't have ate anything else)! As far as dinner was concerned, I had the Rosemary Chicken Alfredo Pasta and enjoyed the dish. The chicken was every so slightly dry, but the portion size was great and overall, the pasta and stuffed chicken were good. Other items ordered included the Chipotle Avocado Steak dish which was raved about ALL night, the Pork and Mexican Meatballs, both of which were very good! The food was definitely a highlight of the trip! We unfortunately didn't save room for dessert, but they have a cheesecake special, which looked wonderful. Overall, I would definitely come back if I'm ever in the area - definitely a gem of Montrose! read more

We stopped here based on some Yelp! reviews. We weren't hungry, but knew we had to eat before a big day tomorrow. We decided to just get appetizers. I got the crab cakes, the wife got the salsa sampler and the quesadillas. WOW! The food was great and WAY more than we needed. The service was superb (wished I had gotten the name of our waiter). To top it off, the bartender (didn't get her name either) poured a perfect Tanqueray martini. Excellent experience. read more

This review is based upon the restaurant being a family style place...with that said, it garners 4 starts for the area and for being family friendly. I really enjoyed the pistachio chicken salad...so much so, that I got the ingredients to make my own cali style version at home. Our peanut butter oat cake was very good as well. read more

Talked to some locals and the first restaurant they mention is Camp Robbers. They are right, very nice place with a great vibe. The owners are always in the restaurant, visiting tables and making sure things are right. Always a good sign. The food was great, we had the pork with pistachio chile coating, salmon, spicy shrimp and the ribs. Everyone was happy with the selection and portion sizes. We kind of made up our own combinations of meat, vegetable and starch and they happily accommodated us. The deserts were wonderful too! All are made onsite and the peanut butter pie was delish. read more

The service is poor and the food is so-so. Server disappeared for at least 20 minutes, never asked how the food was - it was cold. I had to go to the front desk to ask for the server to return. There was a second server but she disappeared too. read more

Our hotel recommended this place and it was awful. I ordered a steak burrito and it came with the cheesy pozole. It was perhaps the worse thing I have ever eaten. The service was not good and although the waitress knew I did not like the food she did not even offer that something else as she did not care. Overall terrible experience. read more
