I really want to like this place. But it's just... okay. Definitely very greasy food--and the bacon cheeseburger meal is $18... which, the cheeseburger at Perry's Steakhouse is $20, for reference, and that's made of hand-ground Perry's steak trimmings same-day, so... well, if you catch my drift, Camp Briteside is essentially a concession stand menu with steakhouse prices. The food is decent quality for what it is, for what' it's worth, but not on par with the price charged. The fries are good. I didn't hate my burger. I did get heartburn by the time I left, though, of course. I miss their old menu from when they opened, back when they had table service. That menu had a steak. Of course, their old flat iron steak was also reaching up into Perry's prices, so I can see how that made its way off the menu. The yard at Camp Briteside is pretty cool for a kid. That's why I'm giving them four stars--It has a alright ambiance for a family. I go here for my four-year-old to run around and make friends. If it weren't for him, I'd never return, though. But, it's nearby, and my kid likes it. So, it's a four star social yard for my kid with subpar while overpriced concession food. read more

What a disappointment. Based on the reviews, I had low expectations when I decided to bring my family to this place, still hoping for the best - but the food, my gosh it definitely served up disappointment. I ordered the chicken Caesar salad, and it was honestly one of the worst salads I've had at a restaurant. The Caesar dressing tasted like a cheap imitation rather than actual Caesar dressing, the chicken was lukewarm, and the lettuce was limp and tasted spoiled. I couldn't bring myself to finish it. The fries were decent, but it's hard to go wrong with frozen fries in a fryer. The burger was okay, but after seeing the condition of the salad, I wasn't exactly eager to eat it. My kids' mac and cheese came with a pre-packaged fruit cup instead of fresh fruit, which was another letdown. The margarita was also disappointing--very weak, too sour and upset my stomach I didn't finish it. The outdoor space is nice enough for kids to run around, but don't expect a traditional playground with swings or climbing equipment. It's mostly an open grassy area where kids can kick a soccer ball or throw a softball. What really stood out was the lack of ambiance. There was no music playing outside, so the atmosphere felt oddly flat and quiet. A little background music would have gone a long way in creating a welcoming vibe. We didn't stay long because of it. The one bright spot was the service. The young woman at the front was genuinely friendly and welcoming, and the bartenders got our drinks out quickly. But nothing overly impressive to be honest. Overall, I would *not* return. Food: 1/5. Atmosphere: 2/5. The decent enough service was the only part of the experience that saved this from being a one-star visit. read more

Been here several times. Over the last 6-8 months the service has drastically declined and the word quality should never be used in a sentence describing their food. My wife and I went tonight because I wanted fish and chips. BTW, we live less than a mile away so it is convenient and was on the way home from where we came from. Saying the fish & chips were awful is a compliment. It looked and tasted like chicken fried steak minus the gravy. It was maybe 1/4 inch thick with tons of dry crust and was as dry as their parking lot. Note, if you order fish and it is served with a steak knife, that is a red flag. The chips were chewy. You have to order at the door and 90 seconds in I am given a tablet asking for the tip for my service which has not happened yet. My wife and I ordered iced tea and set at the bar so we could watch the world cup. Since we were not drinking bar drinks, the bartender ignored us and never refilled our tea. The manager was sitting at the end of the bar with another guy that was wearing a Briteside t-shirt drinking a beer and dropping F-bombs. Keep in mind this is a place that caters to families with elementary and junior high kids and they are dropping F-bombs right and left. Manager did come over and ask how my food was. I said "awful". He asked why and I said what I said above. He said "well the cook cooked it too long". No offer of any kind to fix the situation. No apology. When we left he did apologize for the fish but I stated that I didn't feel he meant it since he pretty much dismissed my complaint by changing the subject to the fly fishing resort referenced on my shirt. Again, no attempt to fix this. I said I won't be back and he said 'okay'. So, I won't be back and I suggest, unless you want to drop off your kids at a whiffle ball court and water slide while you drink beer and don't care about the food or the service, don't go. read more

Hostess asked if we had been there before and I said yes (back when they first opened) she explained we go pick our own seat and come back up to the counter to place an order. Apparently they don't have waiters anymore. We went to pick a table and there was only a couple that were clean. All the others were not bussed yet. It felt gross to sit there amongst all the dirty tables so we left. This place has gone way down hill since they first opened. This is a really good place whether you are looking for live music at night or ample space for the family to hang out and the kids to play. They have a stage, screens, and even a t-ball court to accommodate everyone. The place definitely makes you feel like you are at a summer camp with the staff being super nice and always looking to help. They recently changed the interior layout to include a counter in which you place your order. The food options are all great but I would specially recommend their burgers. The only thing going for this spot is live music and kid friendly. Oh and it has a bar. The pros: super cute decor & plenty of activities for the family! Interesting menu. The cons: Really slow service from the kitchen. Our waitress was fast & efficient, but the kitchen was not. The food was ok, but I've never been served a Patty melt where the bread was toasted, not grilled. Is it even a Patty melt if it's not grilled??? There were plenty of open tables, but they stuck us right next to the kitchen door. That was somewhat annoying. We went on a double date on a Thursday night. It was so busy, they were on a wait. Adorable decor/ theme. When we did get seated I have to say the service was incredibly slow. Both the bartender and our server were very nice, but we waited nearly an hour and a half to eat. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. I ordered the chicken sandwich with pimento cheese, bacon, and slaw. I would order it again in a heartbeat. The onion rings were perfect. My husband liked his smash burger a lot too. She too seemed very pleased I was there. When my food was ready a young man from the kitchen brought it. It was scrumptious (Mahi-mahi with all the fixings!!) This is a cool little hang out spot for the whole family. The yard offers corn hole and other outdoor games and a stage for live music. We ordered brussel sprouts as an appetizer and it took a while for them to be delivered and they came out room temperature and tasted like they had been sitting for a while. The wedge salad with shrimp came out with wilting and browning lettuce. The service was mediocre outdoors (young wait staff- enough said) but when we went inside to the bar the service improved. If I went again with a group of friends or family it would be just for the atmosphere and drinks. read more

What a fun place. Great outdoor area for the kids, inside is big and airy. We ate outside on a beautiful afternoon. Had the classic cheeseburger which was cooked extremely well. Just slightly pink inside, grilled onions, lettuce and tomato. Delicious. I am not a potato lover, including fries- but the fries here are in another category entirely! They are super seasoned and crispy and they give you a ton. I found myself eating a LOT of them. They have a full bar but I don't drink. My great granddaughter (she's 1) seemed to love her very nicely fried and crunchy chicken tenders and she was into the fries as well. The portions are generous! A fun quirky type of place! It's definitely out there but we enjoyed the drive and I enjoy my child can run around in a fenced area. The service was meh- took a long time for my drink after my other party got theirs. And the food wasn't hot which should've been but it was fine. AWESOME !! Just what we needed on this side of the tracks! WE WILL DEFINATELY BE BACK. Rhea (our server) was spectacular! Lots of TVs and variety to watch-- plus they were Johnny on the spot with changing the channel as soon as UT ended to make sure A&M game was on & World Series too. Rhea even let us sit at a picnic table (not usually a full service table) which I was so glad since we had friends coming much later I didn't want to hog a section table. Decor/theme, location & ambiance was all great. Very cute. Kids had a BLAST! Wiffle ball & ping pong. Food: Our burgers were soo good & hearty. Finally a place who doesn't skimp on the meat. Waited for several minutes to be acknowledged at the desk to order. Ordered and was told I had to go to the bar to get the Dr Pepper and beer I bought at the front desk. Waited in a 10 minute line just to get drinks because bartender had no help and was more concerned with people sitting at the bar instead of the 8 people waiting for drinks in front of me. No Dr Pepper behind the bar. Guy taking order said fountain was broken in lobby, but not at bar. Bartender said his was now broken. Just got a coke instead. Food came out and just set on the table. Wasn't able to ask for ranch because the guy took off. Instead, I went and knocked on the door of the kitchen to get the cooks to provide the ranch. Our family goes here often. It is very safe for little kids and comfortable for adults. You can dine inside at tables or at the bar or enjoy the nice patio and huge yard which tonight was complete with heaters! Very nice evening there and as always our food was great. They've really missed the mark here. We came out to try it even though it had poor reviews for customer service and food. That's exactly true. Food was mediocre and very overpriced. Had to ask for different chips as they were stale/unedible and had chunks of seasoning stuck together etc. Staff was generally uninterested and seemed bored when we asked for certain things like new chips, napkins, a plate...water. Went outside after eating and tables were dirty. Just not cool to have to pay such high prices to just do it all yourself. Shouldn't have to clean your own table at a minimum. Went to check out Camp Briteside on Labor Day Monday for drinks and dinner. The camp theme on the inside is amazing and activities outside include wiffleball, ping pong, cornhole, connect four and a live music stage! The drinks were delicious and we loved the variety on the menu. We started with the fried green tomatoes, followed by the salmon and chicken fried steak as entrees and 2 signature cocktails. Banana pudding for dessert. Such a great addition to the west side of Georgetown! Looking forward to the live music. read more
