I figured when we paid our $70 for the evening it would be a roach motel but when we opened the door we were floored. Very clean, large spacious room with a bed that was comfy (bring your own pillows though if you plan to sleep), a decent sized mini fridge, microwave, good sized tv. The two seater sofa is a pullout, and there's also a decent armchair. The bathroom had MARBLE WALLS and a real nice stone tile flooring with good hot water pressure. The room was at 54 degrees when we got in but heated up in about five minutes to a nice toasty 72. I did bring blankets and pillows which made it much nicer, but I have to do that at expensive spots too. Is there art on the walls? No. Is it the most beautifully decorated room? Again, no, but it's clean and decent and we were in a smoking room as non-smokers and it smelled good. Thoroughly pleased, I really can't say enough good things about this place. What a surprise little gem.

But dialing 0 gives you the front desk. Staff is responsive. They came up and brought me a hair dryer and to fix the window shade that was stuck. Rooms are quiet and I do like the window shades that keep to room dark at night. I also like how there is hot water coffee and ice water in the lobby. Elevators are fast! I would stay at this hotel again.

The room felt super modern, clean, and updated, which I was not expecting in the best way. Also, the space. The room was big, which made a huge difference. It didn't feel cramped at all, and it was actually comfortable to relax and get ready. Customer service was also on point. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and helpful without it feeling forced, which I always appreciate. The location is great too, easy to get around and close to everything without being chaotic. I didn't even take a ton of pictures (which says a lot for me lol), but I had to come on here and say this was 100% a solid stay. I'd definitely come back.

Our number on priority was location, and The One was beyond perfect. It's within walking distance of Richmond's greatest museums as well as the popular Carytown neighborhood where we spent much of our visit. When we arrived, Sean and Polly weren't at home, but we were provided with an access code to get in to the guest rooms. We were absolutely floored when we walked in. The One only has two guest rooms, which makes it the perfect place for privacy. Our room, The Dream Suite, is located at the top of the stairs and is beautifully decorated in shades of deep red. My only very minor gripe is that the bathrooms are no located "en suite." Instead, they are directly outside the rooms. So while each bedroom does have its own bathroom, you do need to leave your room to get to it. Not a huge deal since there are only two guest rooms...but you can't traipse to the bathroom naked at 2am, either! The parlor is located across the hall from the guest rooms and is not only a comfortable lounge spot, but is also stocked full of snacks and beverages. This is also where continental breakfast is served in the morning. The spread is pretty standard- muffins, bagels, cereal, etc. It didn't particularly suit my fancy (way too carb-heavy), but it's the type of breakfast my boyfriend loves. Sean and Polly were fantastic hosts; very attentive and friendly. Honestly, they were the best B&B owners I have ever interacted with. You can tell that they truly love what they do. We can't wait to go back to Richmond to spend another night at The One. Thanks to Polly and Sean for a great stay!

Their kitchen was huge and provided everything we needed to make dinner for the guest. We chose to do burgers; turkey burgers; green beans; baked beans; assorted chips and fresh salad. We did need to bring all of the food to be cooked and any additional or specialty seasoning we wanted to use. The kitchen had 4 of everything (stove, fridge, microwave, etc.) after preparing the meal you serve dinner to the residents around 6:30pm. With a few discounts I got my room for under $50/per night. The room had a queen bed, a small dresser, small nightstand, a small dinette with two chairs, a kitchenette with a double burner, sink, a cabinet above and below with shelves and a decent sized refrigerator. Room still looked a bit empty. So as far as the kitchenette there is no cookware or silverware. There is microwave. So you will have to buy those things. There isn't a coffee maker like most regular hotels. So there is quite a bit of things to buy. Stack up in toilet paper because they don't provide it. Room service come but I once a week and only to empty the two trash cans and clean the toilet. They don't change the linen so you have to go wash it yourself. You get two towels, two was clothes and a floor mat which you get to keep. Again you wash those yourself. Going back to the trash, they only throw away whatever that fits into their bags. I'm f you buy your own trash bags they won't throw them away nor will they throw away boxes. The bed sucks cause the frame is light and moves easily. There isn't much places to put things like in bathroom. There is a sign at the front desk that advertises a deluxe suite with more storage and a sofa. I suggest buying a broom and dust pan and bug spray. Noticed a few small roaches around the kitchen sink and some sort of beetles crawling out from under the bathroom doorframe. Took me about ten days before I noticed the roach trap between the sink and refrigerator.
