We stopped here on our way through traveling for just one night. My mom really wanted a holiday inn…read moreexpress because she heard they were all very clean. Our experience was good in terms of cleanliness here. The room was very worn, but clean for what it was. Beds were comfy. Door was that hollow wood and seemed like it would allow noise to really travel. I was glad we were at end of hall. Room 204. Bathroom door handle is broken. The toilet is very low to ground. If you have mobility issues this may be an issue. I honestly lost my balance a bit expecting it to be closer. The shower was clean but corners were very worn down. We just hit the road in morning so didn't actually shower to know water pressure or anything. I also find the hand soaps to be very high on the wall for anyone traveling with children. How are they supposed to wash their hands? I think a lot of hotels are moving to these and it's not always the best idea. Overall, if you are an adult who is just passing through this place is fine. We paid $140 for the night by just going to front desk. Free breakfast had many options. Staff was friendly.

Oh my goodness, everything could improve. I should have read reviews. Same story over last 6 years…read more It's obvious that the owner DOESN'T Care about CLEANLINESS! I checked into this hotel expecting the usually wonderful & clean HIE. Their motto is CLEANLINESS! I just left the hospital after spending over a week and came here to recover and sleep. I was dropped off with no car, I was committed. I should have called for a ride! The first thing was no tv. It was suggested that I unplug it and replug. No way I would touch this cluster! Maintenance guy did it. The room was very humid and musky, so I checked the filters. Gross! I took them to the front desk and asked them to be cleaned. They washed and returned the filters. I went to Cracker Barrel for a candle. My allergies are in full bloom now. Cracker Barrel has Allegra btw. There's black mold in shower/tub. It was cleaned-see the after picture. The toilet paper holder fell out w use. So I set it on counter. Ants around coffee machine, microwave, my cups & napkins. They gave me ant/roach spray. The free breakfast was mediocre at best. I chose to pay to eat at the Cracker Barrel or McDonald's. I'll stop here. This Room has seen it's fair share of abuse! I have always referred friends, family and clients here. I will not be recommending this hotel anymore. If you came here to stay based on my word, I am so very sorry, please forgive me. I must add, the staff was wonderful, professional and kind. Leslie, the hotel manager was taken aback by all of the failures and she did discount my room for 1 night. She offered to move me but all the work was done so I did decline the move.

A quick glance, and you can see if anything was left. There are outlets and usb ports aplenty. I (as a seasond traveler) would recommend carrying a nightlight for the bathroom. This comes in handy in many hotels. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. I will look for the Avid brand in the future.

I was traveling and needed to stop so I was looking for a hotel in Richmond, and through my search…read moreI found avid hotel. It was very easy to book the hotel through the IHG website. From the outside, the hotel looked brand new and had lots of parking. As you stepped inside, you entered into a large lobby area with lots of seating and dining tables. At the front was a small check-in desk and at the back was the complimentary tea, coffee, and hot chocolate, microwave, as well as where the 'grab'n'go' breakfast is located. The room itself is basic but room enough and has all the basic amenities. As you opened the door, on the left was the entrance to the bathroom and after that was a storage rack with a place to store you luggage on top as well as hooks with hangers to hang your stuff on. Next to that was a small section which contained a small ironing board, and underneath the luggage rack was a fridge as well as cubby hotels with additional storage and the iron. The bathroom was also a decent size and contained a sink with counter space, a toilet, and a small stand-in shower. The shower was the only thing that looked small and prefabricated (and thus a bit cheap) but overall the bathroom was decent and had Dove toiletries next to the sink (hand wash and lotion) as well as in the shower (body wash, shampoo and conditioner). The bed was located along the left side of the wall and I had a king-size room which the bed size and comfort were decent and provided a good nights sleep. On either side of the bed were two small nightstands with plugs as well as USB ports on either side. Across from the bed, along the right side of the wall, contained additional hooks to hang your jacket/clothes, a TV mounted along the wall, and a long desk underneath that along with a TV-tray/mini table underneath the big table. The big table was great to do work as well as eat and the mini-table provided extra storage for the work and food. Overall, the room was a decent size, comfortable, had the basic amenities that a guests need, and provided a good nights sleep. The hotel does provide additional amenities for the guests including complimentary parking, complimentary wifi, tea, coffee, and hot chocolate available all the time, grab'n'go breakfast, pool as well as a gym. I was only there for a little while so only experienced the complimentary parking (lots of spaces) and the complimentary wifi which was strong and was able to connect multiple devices. Had I stayed longer I would've enjoyed the complimentary tea/coffee/hot chocolate, the fitness facility as well as the breakfast. Overall, it was a nice hotel with lots of amenities and services for the guest. The room was comfortable, provided a good nights sleep, and the wifi was strong.

Inside, clean, with a complimentary breakfast offered in the center of the hotel. The room was efficient and appeared clean, although a bedspread bore a nasty stain and the room had an unpleasant disinfectant smell which was overbearing in an unhealthy way. As far as cleanliness, the mini-frig wasn't too appealing. On the ground floor, the noise level was minimal and since the hotel was near to the highway, it was easy to get back on the road. The $25 fee per dog wasn't necessary. And, with a cost like that, it might be tempting to let dogs have their way, since the fee was already paid for such. Perhaps a refund for good dogs would suffice. On the way back, I'll try another dog-friendly location.

And don't mistake it for the usual musty AC funk--this was pure water damage left to fester. In the middle of the room sat the TV cabinet...with a sticky mouse trap plastered on its side, proudly displaying a colony of giant, dead bugs. The air conditioner was caked in dust and grime, clearly never given so much as a cursory wipe‑down. The wallpaper in the hallways bubbled and peeled away from moisture, a grotesque patchwork of neglect. To top it all off, the elevator didn't even work--because why wouldn't it be broken in this grotesque place? This is hands‑down the grossest hotel I've ever seen. It doesn't belong in the Choice network and desperately needs a health inspection before someone actually gets sick here. Seriously--don't book this hotel under any circumstances.

I am totally fine with $40 motel rooms. I've slept in dozens if not hundreds. If I see food in a…read moredumpster that looks fine and I'm hungry, I'll eat it. But my experience here was so bad that we still joke about it. To be fair, this place is cheap and run by a family. The guy looked at me and my partner and wanted to impress us with " a nice nice room". He gave us the room directly behind his family's living quarters- a big room, worn down but nothing screaming awful. There were mirrors along that back wall shared by his family apartment, and we felt *weird* being in that room being so close. I'm not implying anything shady about that other than it felt REALLY WEIRD. So, we get settled but then we notice that the wall heater doesn't work. It's December and it's cold, and that vibe was still kicking around, so I went back to ask the guy for another room. He looked at his wall of keys and quickly grew despondent. He led us to a room down the way. The number was missing, the door had prybar marks on it. He leaves us and we get settled. There is an actual 3'x3' hole in the wall with pipes exposed from the sink on the other side of the wall. The bathroom looked like it hadn't been renovated since 1962. And worst of all, the bedsheets were so stained with SOMETHING SO AWFUL, like someone sweat to death while chain smoking inside them. Not one stain, the entire set of sheets. We slept above the covers with our day clothes fully on, towels over the gross pillows, to avoid any contact at all with this disgusting bed. Now, maybe he looked discouraged because he knew he was giving us his worst room, the one he only gives to people in an emergency. I like to hope that, because he was a genuinely nice guy that wanted us to enjoy our stay. But we couldn't. I can't recommend this place to anyone at all based on my experience.

Room smelled stale at first, layout a little odd, bedspread visibly stained. Deadbolt can be unlocked with key from outside (pet peeve of mine).
