On a road trip with dogs, Quality Inn was one of the few hotels in the area of my search that accepted dogs. The hotel exterior was cute. Inside, clean, with a complimentary breakfast offered in the center of the hotel. The room was efficient and appeared clean, although a bedspread bore a nasty stain and the room had an unpleasant disinfectant smell which was overbearing in an unhealthy way. As far as cleanliness, the mini-frig wasn't too appealing. On the ground floor, the noise level was minimal and since the hotel was near to the highway, it was easy to get back on the road. The $25 fee per dog wasn't necessary. And, with a cost like that, it might be tempting to let dogs have their way, since the fee was already paid for such. Perhaps a refund for good dogs would suffice. On the way back, I'll try another dog-friendly location. read more

Stay far away from this dump--these rooms are utterly uninhabitable. The moment you crack the door, a blast of moldy rot slaps you in the face. And don't mistake it for the usual musty AC funk--this was pure water damage left to fester. In the middle of the room sat the TV cabinet...with a sticky mouse trap plastered on its side, proudly displaying a colony of giant, dead bugs. The air conditioner was caked in dust and grime, clearly never given so much as a cursory wipe‑down. The wallpaper in the hallways bubbled and peeled away from moisture, a grotesque patchwork of neglect. To top it all off, the elevator didn't even work--because why wouldn't it be broken in this grotesque place? This is hands‑down the grossest hotel I've ever seen. It doesn't belong in the Choice network and desperately needs a health inspection before someone actually gets sick here. Seriously--don't book this hotel under any circumstances. read more

Had to leave this property and book a different hotel in the middle of a planned stay. Last straw was a live cockroach in the bathroom. Elevator in the property is broken and housekeeping crew is severely understaffed. Avoid if possible. read more

The bed was comfy and was king size. Pullout bed, not so much. We had to ask the receptionist for extra bed sheets and blanket. Breakfast was good, but there wasn't a large variety of foods. Overall, an okay place to stay, but not the best I've been. read more

So, I'm reading Joe's review from 2016 where he mentions "The hotel is new, modern, and clean. . . Even as a new hotel, I'm seeing things that should be kept up on, and can imagine how conditions will be when this hotel is just a few years old. . . What was definitely lacking was a warm reception by staff. No smiles or a simple greeting," Well, he nailed it! Seven years later -- it's DIRTY! The shower curtain was moldy, the extra covers were thrown into the closet unfolded (and pretty sure unwashed), the window leaked and was NASTY, there was (someone else's) trash left under the bed, no mattrees pad -- sheet to mattress and the elastic was sooo warn out, it did NOT stay put. Breakfast? I'm not eating there. Bread box was empty, OJ watered down, waffle batter too and everyone had to use the same cup....very few choices (okay, two, there were two choices.) NASTY! Hallway stunk of Marijuana and vomit ... inside the room, when the lights went on there were roaches scurrying everywhere, including the bed. Therer was one lone spider on the pillow waiting to catch them, but she was terribly outnumbered. BEWARE! DO NOT STAY HERE! read more

(READ IF YOU PLAN ON STAYING HERE) My boyfriends family and me were looking for somewhere to sleep after being at kings dominion all day. the whole hotel stinks of odor and beside one of our room door was a pile of trash from the people before that housekeeping left. we were exhausted ready to lay down. one room his family couldn't even get in because the key wouldn't work and had to go to the front desk twice to get the right key. saw a bug in the hallway while waiting. then in our room, as soon as we go in we see the tv is handing crooked on the wall, the screen was purple shaded, volume didn't work, and the channel wouldn't change. not to mention we went in the bathroom and the toilet was clogged. we the guy at the desk came up to check it out he handed the plunger to my boyfriend and told HIM to fix the toilet while he "fixed" the tv. in the end he ended up giving us another room with no mention of a discount or anything. breakfast was fine the next morning beds felt comfortable but other than that i DO NOT recommend. highly disappointed when i just wanted to lay down but had to deal with all that. read more

My daughter and I reserved a room here for two nights on our way to Richmond to look for a place to live. We were so impressed with how clean the rooms and the hotel was, how nice the staff was that we ended up staying a week! It was such a nice respite after the stress and chaos of moving that we just did not want to leave. The energy in this hotel is so calm and restful, the rooms so well appointed that it is almost too comfortable! The free breakfast is wonderful and everything you could need for a stay is so close. I hope I can find and excuse to come back here fro another week in the future! read more

This place is right off I95 and their windows are so old and bad that it felt like we were sleeping right off the hwy with all the noise. Their so called good breakfast has imitation egg which is the only thing out of all the junk carbs that's out there. Save your money and go elsewhere read more

Three stories, interior entrances, elevator. A most unique decor is noticeable the moment you enter the lobby. Certainly a more upscale and fresh look. My king room was very spacious. Bed was comfortable, free wifi worked well, couch with a pull out bed. My only complaint was that my request for a first floor room was not honored. As a Choice Hotels Platinum rewards member (their highest level) I should have priority in room assignments when I make an advanced reservation. read more

Whole hotel smelled. Rooms were borderline disgusting with stray pills being left out on the dresser in addition with some rooms containing roaches. Hotel appears to be under renovations, but I don't think that has much to do with the lack of cleaning or lack of bugs. read more

No amenities like a pool or vending machine. Morning breakfast only offered bagels and coffee. Would not allow us to change our date by one day later within 24hrs, I know there policy says no changes within 24hrs but when there is no reason except for that than customer service and care should take priority. Humidity control was nonexistent, might as well slept outside and woke up covered in dew. Rooms were tiny. They did accept dogs for $15 extra Verdict. This place is not for families vacationing for Kings Diminion or for travelers looking for a relaxing night off the road. You deserve better. 2 stars because nobody was murdered or anything (as far as I know). read more

Checked in late, and was able to get rooms at a good rate ($114 w/tax). The double Queen beds are comfy, erring on the soft side (which is my preference) & with clean bedding. Shower and washroom facilities were clean & well stocked. Overall the experience is great, especially for the price. Do recommend. read more

Let's start with the positive: Pleasant staff Now for my concerns: Dirty sheets were left on the bed in the pull-out couch. Weird stain on head of couch. Floor by front door of room looked clean but when wiped it was full of dirt. Dust along the lights next to bed. Dirt, dog hair and I'm not sure what else along the fabric bed skirt. Got bit by a bug in the bed, under the covers on my ankle. Lovely people, but whomever cleaned my room needs to some additional training. read more

Clean quality rooms. Did late night check in and early morning check out. Some vending upstairs and plenty of towels and a nice breakfast with waffle maker downstairs. They're doing a great job with Covid cleanliness and being professional and kind with guests. The cook out place next door is delicious and easy food btw and this is next door to plenty of other food spots for you. read more

The room smells musty and kind of like cigarettes. The website was a bit confusing. The seal on the window is janky and you can hear the highway traffic as if the window was open. Pretty bummed. Just wanted a somewhat quiet and clean place to sleep. read more

we were planning on staying at this hotel for 2 nights and didn't even make it one. my daughters found a bug in the bed our friends staying in the room next to ours found 3 bugs in their bed and the hotel clerk seemed annoyed that we wanted to check out that night. the tub had mold in and the sheets were stained. also there was a weird smell through out the hotel. I also called their customer service who said the complaint would be escalated but that they couldn't call me back. this was the worse experience I have ever had in a hotel! read more

Very clean hotel with a streamlined check in process which made our last minute decision to book here nearly effortless. Breakfast offered a good selection of both warm and cold items. Two side notes: 1. No high chairs in dining area. As a hotel steps off of 95 where families are bound to be using this hotel frequently, this was surprising. Traveling with a young baby is hard and offering necessary items such as high chairs in the dining area are important. 2. Our young daughter unfortunately woke up ill. We notified staff in the middle of the night who provided clean sheets and were kind. We left an ample tip for our housekeeper, along with cleaning up ourselves noting linens needed washing. We notified the manager during check out to ensure all could be taken care of and he was rather cold about the incident in front of my daughter who felt embarrassed. read more

One night stay on our way to VA beach. First room was very humid, and had a large stain on the sheets by the pillows. Second room was less humid but smelled like smoke. Disgusting. They sprayed air freshener but that lasted a few minutes, and another room wasn't offered. After another complaint, I was told "sorry some people break the rules" about the smoke smell. I will never stay at or recommend this hotel again. I will be fighting for a refund, not worth the $180 spent. Had we not been in the truck for 9 hours and unpacked / moved the kids twice - we would have left for another hotel. read more

Very low water pressure in the toilet, dirt on ledges, a chair in the breakfast area that was broken. The door to my room would hardly close, fruit loops were all over the stairwell. These things will start to add up quickly, but didn't overall affect my stay this time. That sweet, sweet comfy bed made up for it all. What was definitely lacking was a warm reception by staff. No smiles or a simple greeting, I had to do all of the talking. I wanted 5 stars for this property, since it has great colors and Aloft style, but I would really just give it 3.5 stars. read more

Very nice place. The staff was very polite, even allowed me to check out late. The room was clean, and in fact, I could smell bleach when I walked in the room (the smell quickly dissipated). The bed was softer than I usually prefer, but was very comfortable. The WiFi was great. No loss of signal and very fast, unlike the free WiFi in other places. Breakfast was better than average. Traveling from Pennsylvania to Florida I was hoping to make some tracks until someone in their infinite wisdom decided to reduce I-95 south to one lane... Traffic nightmare! I wasn't planning on stopping here but I did bc there were many hotels to choose from. This Quality Inn had great reviews on Yelp (lifesaver) and allowed pets- I'm glad I picked this one bc it was clean, recently renovated, and a super comfortable bed for a hotel. Harry welcomed us at the front desk when we checked in and he was there in the morning just as friendly and cheerful when we left. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone who wants to get off of the road for a good nights sleep! read more

I stayed at this hotel because I was looking to replace the Comfort Inn I used to stay at when taking kitties down to Helping Hands in Richmond, VA. It's a long drive from NoVA, and since drop-off is early, it's easier to drive down the night before and stay over.I used 10,000 to stay here - others in the area were 8,000, but had bad reviews. On par, this was worth it! I will probably stay here again; and would recommend it to anyone, especially travelling with pets. This time, my check-in was late, at 9 pm, and there was no problem with my reservation being held open. The hotel was quiet, clean, and safe. I've seen reviews that ding it for being noisy due to being right off I-95, and that's true - it *is* right off the highway. I took a note from those reviews and asked for a room that faced the parking lot - it helped. Also the in-room ac/heat wall unit provided good *white noise* to sleep to. And I brought a desktop mini-fan. Let's see - there was plenty of parking, well -lit; and plenty of surrounding restaurants. The room was clean and all the lights worked. The king-sized room was ginormous! The curtains - a pair of sheers, a pair of lined blackouts, and the decorative side-panels did a pretty good job of blocking out ambient light from the parking lot. The bathroom was clean and modern; and there were plenty of soft bath linens. There were no loose or rusty pipes/faucets like in some Richmond-area hotels; no stained or loose floor or shower tiles. I liked the built-in wire basket as a shower soap dish! The TV, microwave, mini-fridge, hair dryer, and in-room coffee pot were also in good working condition. The coffee pot was well-stocked with tea, coffee, and condiments for both. The ice bucket and individually-wrapped cups were a nice touch! I didn't use the safe or ironing board, but it was good to know they were there in the closet. The bed was comfy - plush but with good support; and plenty of plump pillows. I'm sure I would have slept well if I hadn't been nervous for my cat's dental appointment the next day. The only real detractor for me was the complimentary breakfast, but that is due to my own special dietary restrictions. I think that most people (without those problems) would find a nice variety of breakfast foods. I did see outdoor seating in the front of the hotel - I imagine that would be nice in better weather. It also looked possible to walk your dog around the hotel, or up/down the road as there wasn't much traffic. The pet fee is nominal - the guidebook in the room says 20.00 per pet, but 15.00 on the website, with a 3 pet max, 50-lb weight limit per animal. Nothing smelled icky in the room, though, so clearly cleaning up after animals isn't a problem. And the whole building is smoke-free - so no stale-smoke smell anywhere, butts piled up at the hotel entrance, or hassle of supposedly 'non-smoking' rooms that so often aren't as advertised. This hotel looks nice from the outside. It has been renovated. The room was clean but small, especially with two queen beds in it. Checking in was easy. Breakfast was ok. It is pet friendly, which was our reason for choosing it. Overall it wasn't bad, but not the nicest. read more

I'm under the impression that this hotel went under a recent revamp where they tried to modernize the look of everything and I will admit that they did a good job with certain fixtures and features. Unfortunately, it seems like they took the easiest and cheapest route to do so which is understandable, but not really noticeable in pictures and no one mentions it in reviews. The shower curtain in the room I stayed in had mold spots all over the bottom of it, the exhaust fan was not properly mounted and exposed a rather large gap in the ceiling, the wallpaper was peeling on the walls and the appliances were quite battered and ratty looking. After looking back and realizing what I had paid for the room, I decided that it was worth a review considering it was not nearly as good of a deal as what I had originally thought. read more
