I had the absolute pleasure of staying at the Quirk Richmond for a wedding. The first thing you notice when you walk in is the high ceilings. There's an art gallery in the hotel that features art of local artists. There's quirky art pieces throughout and pink is color you will see throughout. The rooms are roomy and with the high ceilings and in some rooms floor to ceiling windows with all that natural light coming in the rooms feel bigger. The cafe has breakfast and lunch options. Highly recommend staying here if you're in the area. There's also a rooftop restaurant where you can enjoy beautiful views read more

Ask for more towels - like 7 for the amount of water that ends up outside the shower. The puny mat they provide is saturated half way through the shower. ETA: the mattress didn't fit the bed frame, and was not comfortable. We didn't sleep especially well at all. read more

I knew this was an old, updated building, but I was very disappointed with this hotel. There was no hot water in the bathroom sink, so I had to shave in the shower (with no mirror); and the shower water was barely warm enough for the shower. The toilet ran after flushing unless I went back and gave the handle a little jiggle. There were no electrical outlets in the bathroom -- none! I had to plug in my electric toothbrush on one of the nightstands. There was a double electrical outlet at the desk, but the refrigerator plug covered part of the second outlet, so I had to unplug the refrigerator to plug in my laptop. (Fortunately, I had no need for the fridge.) The room was chilly when I got there, but I couldn't figure out how to set the HVAC for heat. The only plus was that the bed was very comfortable. But that was not enough to make up for all the other shortcomings. I do not recommend this hotel. It is very expensive and not anywhere near worth it. read more

The best part of my stay at Quirk Hotel was the staff. Everyone I spoke with was pleasant and helpful, especially the gentleman who showed me a few different rooms when I asked to move and the gentleman at valet. I arrived at 3 p.m. and was told check-in was at 4 p.m. It would be $30 for early check-in, so I paid it. My first room matched the preference I had requested, but the windows were too high for me to see outside. It felt closed in and made me anxious. Thankfully, the staff helped me find a room with a window I could actually look out of. For $510 for one night, I expected more from the room. The room had no iron, ironing board, cups in the bathroom, cozy robes, or amenity options. There were only four hangers in the closet, and the air conditioning did not come on at night. I accidentally left my jacket behind. When I called two days later, the hotel confirmed they had it. I wish someone had contacted me when it was found instead, I received a text with a link offering to mail it, hold it for pickup, or keep it. I'm grateful for how helpful the staff were, but the overall experience did not feel worth the price. read more

Just celebrated Galentine's at Quirk Lobby Restaurant. We went there for the brunch and the service was pretty good for one waitress to 11 of us. I had a vanilla latte which is sourced by Blanchard's Coffee which I think tastes great. I ordered the French toast. I would say that this breakfast could also be treated as a dessert. It will definitely satisfy your sweet tooth. The ambience was very chill and I feel the staff did their best to accommodate such a large group. read more

Super cute ambiance. The pink accents are everything and was a perfect night out with the girls. Service however was extremely slow that night - it was a Friday night but at least from where we were sitting it didn't look super busy. However shout out to the bar tender for making us fresh espresso martini flights after being told they had run out of their batches cocktails. I've been wanting to stay at this boutique hotel for a while. I love their lobby decorations.... you can see the bright lights from Broad Street! Staying in the hotel was not what I expected. Our room was set on 68° and it would only go up to 74....we set it, went to dinner and returned two hours later and finally it was comfortable. The shower was great and the bed was lumpy. We both woke up with achy backs. I'd return but not for an overnight stay. read more

Sometimes being a Richmonder, you miss out on local hotel spots because you live here! As a result, this was my first time going to Quirk and I can't believe I've never been! It's such a cute little gem with amazing food (shoutout to the broccolini and the twice cooked chicken, so yummy!!). I stayed overnight as a little birthday gift to myself and I really enjoyed it. I wouldn't stay. The outside and inside is adorable. They took a very old hotel and made it very quaint- pink everywhere and really updated it. But the hotel room is old. Very worn amidst the newer furnishings and art. Beds are horrible- we tossed and turned all night and heard everything our upstairs neighbors dropped. I was taking my daughter to college and this was a stop over. Exhausted from our travels- went to bed early. Front desk called us 3x @ 230 am- finally picking up they told me my door dash was here. ‍..we were sleeping. Instead of an apology we just got the dial tone once we told her she woke us. Positive note- emailed with the manager and they did give us a credit for our stay. Lastly- the street that it's on is really run down. We walked a block and half to pizza and passed 4 homeless... it was actually pretty scary walking and raced back to the hotel after dinner. read more

We checked into Quirk Hotel around 1:30 in afternoon, and unfortunately, our first night has been incredibly frustrating. I went to bed at 9pm, woke up extremely hot and realized the air conditioning kept shutting off. I tried calling the front desk, only to discover that the phone in our room was dead went dead. At 1:30 in the morning, I had to get dressed and walk downstairs to let someone know what was happening. To be fair, the woman working at the front desk was very kind and understanding. We walked around trying to find a fan, thankfully she was able to locate one. I really appreciated her kindness and willingness to help, but the situation itself is extremely disappointing. Night Two: It's 2:30 a.m. and I've now gotten up twice already to turn the air conditioning back on since going to bed at 9pm. Apparently, nothing was done to address the issue from yesterday. I had to get dressed again, go back down to the lobby, and ask to be moved to another room. The staff has been friendly and courteous throughout this experience, and I do appreciate that. However, the fact that I've now had TWO consecutive nights dealing with a hot room is unacceptable. Thankfully, I was able to leave my spouse in room 309 and move to another room at 2:30 in the morning. The fact that I had to deal with this both nights is extremely unfortunate and completely unacceptable. Hopefully, I won't have to get up multiple times throughout the night to turn the AC unit back on again on the fourth floor. I'm also not sure why we weren't moved to a different room to begin with, which could have prevented this from happening a second night. I would not stay at the Quirk again or recommend it to anyone who expects a comfortable, cool room and a good night's sleep. read more

What an adorable spot! I didn't get to stay here but I went to the restaurant and it was so nice. It had a cute vibe to it -- the perfect spot for a bridal shower or engagement or birthday party or even a baby shower. It is a gorgeous venue! There's also a rooftop bar as well. The food was delicious. I'm not too sure if parking is easy though as it really just seemed like it was street parking for the restaurant but I imagine the hotel has its own parking as well. read more

Quirk Lobby Restaurant is not what it used to be. It's fallen off. We went as a group on a Tuesday night and the service was slower than Christmas. They had taken down all the pink trees because of a wedding the next day rather than have the event coordinator not realize what season it is or having maintenance show up at 5am instead of 8. It's a business. Gotta run it like one. And the food was not of the presentation and quality that it used to be. They've lost their flair and they've lost their edge in how they drive their employees and as consumers we feel it. The gallery was already closed while there for a 6pm reservation. But the cheesiest part of the whole experience was the demand for a credit card for the reservation and going to bill if we no-showed. Well, SFO and NYC may do that kind of garbage and charge for water and I ask how many people are moving to those two disasters of liberal bastion? None. If your clientele is shufflers and show men with no class than raise your prices 50% to keep the scum out and only affordable by those that can and will shop the gallery and stop asking for credit cards for a reservation thinking you are NYC big time. NY doesn't work at all in any way. And I'm not sure I'll take a party back until I know management has taken control and others have tested it. read more

The Quirk Hotel in Richmond is such a charming and beautiful place to stay. I loved exploring the space because every corner had something creative and unexpected to notice. The rooms were cozy, comfortable, and so well designed, which made it easy to relax. The food was amazing, and I really appreciated how many vegan options were available. Review of Lobby Coffee Bar: Whenever I travel I get up early and grab coffee at a local place. Today--I chose coffee in the Quirk Hotel lobby. You can always tell if a barista is worth his or her salt if they make a good black americano. I asked the barista, "how do you feel about americanos?" The property is stunning, and the consistent theme throughout is simply amazing, despite the use of pink, which is not my favorite color (lol). The location is perfect, and the staff is simply amazing! The sleeping rooms are large and comfortable, and the rooftop views are breathtaking! The Gallery is a must-see, and the bar bites are delicious! Quirk is definitely the place to stay! Although I was not in the hotel much, I would have loved to spend more time there. The staff was simply amazing, and the service was top-notch. However, I do have two minor complaints. Firstly, my bathroom was not cleaned properly. There was hair throughout the shower and on the floor. Although I tend to clean for my own sanity, this was one of the first things I noticed when walking into the bathroom. Secondly, on Sunday, I took advantage of Happy Hour, and I found the bartender, Rose, to be less engaging and friendly than I would have liked. She did not use proper utensils when retrieving items, instead using her bare hands. As a paying customer, I do not want someone's bare hands on my straw or lemons. When I saw her pick up the lemons with her hands, I immediately asked her why she was not using tongs or a toothpick. She appeared to have an attitude immediately after as if I had asked for something unusual, and she chatted with her colleague about it. I hope she corrected the error, as this is a cardinal rule in the food and beverage industry. IT IS SIMPLY UNACCEPTABLE! The Gallery is absolutely amazing! The art by Bukuru Nyandwi is breathtaking and will leave you speechless! You have to see it for yourself before it's gone on September 15th! And let me tell you about the Pink Gallery - it's so pink and cute! You can find everything from sticky notes to stuffed animals, and it's all so bright and cheerful! You absolutely must check it out! Overall, I had a fantastic time at the Quirk, the jazz festival, and the sites of Richmond, and I cannot wait to share my experience with others! We loved our stay at the Quirk Richmond! We booked through Capital One Travel and received an early check-in and late check-out (make sure to check if they have this availability), a room upgrade, $50 credit experience credit for on-property venues (bar, breakfast, the gallery), and $40 credit for breakfast-only. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The hotel's decor is fun and chic, the rooms are minimalistic with a touch of pink. We used our credit for cocktails at the bar, and they were delicious. The hotel is dog-friendly. Rooms are not very soundproof- we could hear dogs barking and people talking in the hallways. Valet parking is $30. The art gallery was nice to walk through and the gift shop had several cute items. read more

Quirk was a delightful boutique hotel. Their design is stellar and is so tastefully curated. I ordered on Capital One Travel and ended up getting their Terrace Suite, which has a king bed, is multi-level, has a big outdoor terrace, a pull-out bed, two TVs, two desks, two bathrooms...it was the biggest hotel room I've ever stayed in. While the proximity to the elevator was convenient, hallway noise was rampant and impossible to block out. The bed was comfortable and the bathrooms were nice, but neither were anything especially exceptional. I liked their bar and restaurant. I tried a cocktail, wine, and their vegetable plate. All were solid -- no complaints here. Service was prompt and thoughtful. I like that the restaurant/bar is in such a cavernous space (a former department store!). The floor-to-ceiling black metal staircase is such a delight. The coffee shop was good, though did not have vegan food options. I got an oat milk cappuccino and was happy with it. The location is convenient. I'd recommend Quirk for personal or business travel (this was for business, and it worked well, but I think it would be a great long weekend travel destination). read more

I really wanted to love this place, and have been a few times to give it a chance. While the vibe is incredible, the food and service fall short. The staff is friendly, but depending on where you sit I have been forgotten about. Every time I've been there have been multiple items on the menu that are unavailable, and I haven't found out until it's time to order. I love the crispy Brussels sprouts and avocado hummus, but the entrees do not hit the mark. The scallops were undercooked while the pasta from another entree was over cooked. Most recently, in a group of 6 of us, every entree had something fully undercooked or overcooked. It seems like things didn't time out right in the kitchen. The nonalcoholic drinks are just ok, and could use some attention. I hope the food improves!! I love the decor and energy in the space. read more

Inside a 1916 old dry goods building in a central location, there's a lot to love about Quirk Hotel. The lobby especially is beautiful from the local art on the walls, the courtyard, the cafe with good coffee, the art gallery, the pink accented walls. It's a great space to hang out in. Step into the rooms and set your expectations. They are more simple. We personally enjoyed it, but don't expect fancy furniture or amenities. The rooftop offers a beautiful of the city. The gym is lacking. The equipment is very old and some didn't work. Overall, it was a good stay, but set expectations on how minimal the rooms can be. read more

I love Quirk so much! It's one of my favorite places in RVA. Although I don't have much need to stay in the hotel as a local, I love all the fun they offer locals at the Lobby Bar, Coffee Bar, The Rooftop, art gallery, and gift shop. ***LOCATION*** This boutique hotel is located in Jackson Ward aka the arts district. This fabulous pink hotel is a spot you don't want to miss. If you are planning to spend the night here, it's right next to the Pulse (the bus line that comes every 15mins, is free, and takes you to a lot of main RVA stops. Other note: all buses are free in RVA with zero fare - this is guaranteed until June 2024). ***EXPERIENCE*** You can experience so much here as a local or visitor. Their tiny, intimate, *FREE* art gallery is always fun to check out. It's also worth the walk through the gift shop. The gift shop has so many creative and fun items you won't want to miss. The coffee from the Coffee Bar is so tasty. While the Lobby Bar brunch can be hit or miss, their other meal options are very yummy. They used to have a ceviche that was amazing. Their cocktails are also incredible and thoughtful. If you're looking for a great date spot, check out the Quirk Rooftop. My mom has stayed a few nights here and a good friend of mine who just got married stayed here with her husband after their wedding. My mom enjoyed the comfort of the room, but was next to a room with a barking dog. While the friend got a master suite with a great balcony and adored her stay. Note: They allow dogs. ***PRICE*** While I have not personally stayed at the hotel, I have heard it's around $280 a night (for the cheapest room). When I've come here for food and drink: Coffee Bar: $2.50-16 Lobby Bar: $6-25 Rooftop (drinks): $11-60 ***BATHROOM*** There are women and men bathrooms downstairs with a decent amount of stalls. There are also some upstairs near the rooftop. ***CONCLUSION*** The Quirk is an amazing spot to visit. It has something for everyone. An incredibly mediocre hotel with lousy service. It's located on a street corner and signs direct you to the valet parking, but there is no valet to be found- nor any signage telling you where to go in the hotel. Front desk staff was rude and inattentive. The restaurant staff is worse- after finally getting a menu after fifteen minutes of waiting, I was ignored for another fifteen minutes till I get up and left. The hotel rooms are large, but not particularly clean or comfortable. There are better hotels to stay at in Richmond. read more

I have never left a negative review before but as long as this guy is working at the Quirk hotel I will not be coming back. You hear about situations like the one I was involved in happening but I was appalled by this guys behavior. As you can see in the picture he would only pay attention and serve the young girls. I was sitting here for over 45min and it wasn't overly busy for him to not notice this. I asked these lovely older women beside me who were there before I arrived if it took them awhile to get service. They responded with "I'm not gonna lie we were here a pretty long time before he asked us". I continued to watch him serve the young girls and not pay attention to my fiancé and other older women around me. I jokingly said to them write down your orders and I will try and get them. Another bar tender over heard me say this and finally came over to serve them. Then this bartender in the photo refused to serve me because he stated I was yelling at him when in fact I never even talked to him. He gave my fiancé his beer and the check and refused to serve me. He continued to want to be argumentative with me and I refused to engage in his childish behavior. We spoke with the manager and she stated he has done this before and told us we could enjoy the view for awhile but she did nothing regarding his actions and behavior. It's unfortunate people act this way and I felt this needed to be shared and to stand up for what is right. read more

This is a great spot for pet parents who still desire an upscale hotel experience. There is not a single pup or kitty parent who doesn't want to feel pampered and also have their fur-baby welcomed. Quirk provides exactly that! Let's face facts and realize that many folks think of their pets as family and as family they want the animal they love to be treated well and said pet to accompany them on pleasure and business travels. Quirk does a wonderful job in the Arts District of downtown. Richmond Virginia of making both two and four-legged customers feel welcomed, pampered, and accepted. I loved this experience as I traveled with my French bulldog and both Hugo (my dog) and I were overwhelmed by the amenities and acceptance. The rooms are gorgeous and painted in a soft pink with characters painted by a gifted young artist. The food was very good and the cocktails were top notch! We saw many folks celebrating Christmas. Birthdays and more in an elegant setting that really makes one's night. Meet the girls here in the lobby bar before you embark on your main evening. If I was rating solely on "vibes", the Quirk would get 5/5 but there were a few things that stuck out as oversights in my room. Firstly, the tv is parallel to the bed and isn't on an arm to swing out which means you can't watch tv in bed - which is half the fun of staying in a hotel. Secondly, the reading chair in the corner was missing a side table and a lamp so it was too dark to read and didn't make for a comfortable seat (nowhere to put your feet or a drink). Lastly, calling their downstairs space a "gallery" feels like a bit of a stretch for some small paintings in a basement next to a storage room. Overall, I'd definitely stay here again if the price was right (they fluctuate wildly so I got this room for $129 but have routinely seen it for $500 depending on the season). read more

Mundane at Best, Spartan Room...The Quirk Hotel, is certainly not to be recommended. I'm fairly well traveled and in my 80 years, I have never stayed in a Hotel that did not at least have a pen and a note pad, if not stationary in the room. The Restaurant closes at 9, The wooden bed frame is cracked, And, using the in room phone to call the front desk or Concierge results in a busy signal! I have called the main number from my cellphone and it rang for 6 minutes with out anyone answering. Never Again, glad I only booked two nights. There is a built in 7 Dollar tip for the Valet Parker which a link is sent to you, (30 a day to park) and then they've got the balls to put a 1.50 "Convenience Fee" on the separate tip. I booked a room through Capital One Travel which gave me the perk of early check in when available, so while I wasn't expecting the room to be available, I was delighted when they said the room would be ready soon upon my check in. Two and a half hours later, still not ready. Another hour later, still not ready--it turns out the people who were in the room before had not even left. I was disappointed that they weren't transparent with me earlier. I would have planned my day differently if I had known "soon" was actually four and a half hours. I was upgraded to a suite, and I was excited to experience it because the rest of the hotel has adorable decor. Unfortunately, it didn't carry over the rooms. They were quite large and sterile. They are very poorly soundproofed, to the point where I thought a pipe was going to burst when the room next door turned out their shower. The shower area is enclosed by a cheap curtain so water gets everywhere when you shower, something I wouldn't expect from a hotel that's supposed to be of this caliber. I had some bar snacks one afternoon and the pork rinds I received tasted stale. Breakfast was redeeming though--the staff was kind and the food was great. Overall, I really wanted to love this but I can't recommend this hotel. For the price you are much better off somewhere else. read more

I legit happened upon Quirk. I knew of the brand, liked what I saw online but upon reading what were mixed reviews, I decided to stay elsewhere for my quick jaunt to Richmond. But I actually stumbled upon it while looking for something else, not knowing how close in proximity I was. As soon as I entered I was greeted warmly. I had to jump on a Teams meeting and I was able to post up, Yosanna (spelling may be wrong), curated a drink for me and was amazing! I was on a time crunch to catch the train back to DC but spent about 2 1/2 hours working in the lobby which is lovely. Yosanna prepared my order to go. The drink and house chips with French dip, are amazing. But everyone from the front desk to the guy who lit the candles to set the mood, were very kind. I LOVE the decor. Can't speak to the rooms and accommodations but I know I can't wait to stay. And its in a great part of town where alot is within walking distance. Love the vibe. read more
