I used to live in the Fan/Museum District, and I love this place because it is in such a good location, right next to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (which I highly recommend as well!), as well as walking distance to shops and restaurants in Carytown, the Fan, etc. We stayed in the carriage house the first time and the house itself the second time. Both were very cozy, with lots of amenities, such as bathrobes, bottled water, and coffee pot/tea in the room. The breakfast in the morning is phenomenal. It is made to order, with eggs, bacon, various rolls, oatmeal, coffee, etc. and served in the house's dining room. The staff is absolutely lovely and so welcoming. Another added bonus is that they provide tickets for admission to the special exhibit at the VMFA, as well as passes to get a free drink in their cafeteria. Love, love, LOVE this place. Highly recommend!

Later, he sold it to a Doctor Friend who resided there when she would serve as a civil war hospital. Sold again, yet to another doctor, Dr. Thomas Cheatham, the house grew again to form a “T” shaped structure. After his death, the home would fall into severe disrepair only to be restored in the 1930s and named Wrexham. The Hague family lived there and maintained what became a “mansion” in the 1960s when it was added to once again. The new addition begged for an upgraded name, which is the now, Wrexham Hall. Sold to Judge Gates in the 1970s, he would sell it and have it moved to its current location. The last addition was made by the Brennan family, an event room that would serve many for years to come. Now owned by Greg and Carol Marion. She is still an event space as well as a Bed and Breakfast. Come Enjoy

It's within walking distance of Richmond's greatest museums as well as the popular Carytown neighborhood where we spent much of our visit. When we arrived, Sean and Polly weren't at home, but we were provided with an access code to get in to the guest rooms. We were absolutely floored when we walked in. The One only has two guest rooms, which makes it the perfect place for privacy. Our room, The Dream Suite, is located at the top of the stairs and is beautifully decorated in shades of deep red. My only very minor gripe is that the bathrooms are no located "en suite." Instead, they are directly outside the rooms. So while each bedroom does have its own bathroom, you do need to leave your room to get to it. Not a huge deal since there are only two guest rooms...but you can't traipse to the bathroom naked at 2am, either! The parlor is located across the hall from the guest rooms and is not only a comfortable lounge spot, but is also stocked full of snacks and beverages. This is also where continental breakfast is served in the morning. The spread is pretty standard- muffins, bagels, cereal, etc. It didn't particularly suit my fancy (way too carb-heavy), but it's the type of breakfast my boyfriend loves. Sean and Polly were fantastic hosts; very attentive and friendly. Honestly, they were the best B&B owners I have ever interacted with. You can tell that they truly love what they do. We can't wait to go back to Richmond to spend another night at The One. Thanks to Polly and Sean for a great stay!

Jim and Christine were amazing hosts they made sure we were warmly greeted and well fed. Breakfast was amazing more food than I or my husband could eat! We had cheesy eggs, sausage, fruit with yogurt, potatoes and your choice of tea, coffee, hot coco and a juice. They exceeded my expectations on quality and presentation. The butter even was shaped like a swan. I think when a place takes such pride on the details you know that you are in great hands. We stayed in the wicker room which was perfect. We had a private bath and shower. The room had a TV w DVD player and sat cable. The room was perfect and I slept like I was in my own house. I love the location of the B&B, it was centrally located to all shops and restaurants in Blackstone. Would recommend this place to anyone and everyone I know as a perfect weekend getaway.

Ashley, at the desk, was incredibly helpful, suggesting sites to visit, excellent places to eat, and even helping with our luggage. The location of the inn could not be more perfect - adjacent to the historical area and close to many great restaurants. Our "George Washington" room was fabulous! Sometimes staying in an old historic building means dealing with dated rooms. Everything in our room was updated, thoughtful, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. Lots of wonderful little touches. The four poster bed was very comfortable and the shower excellent. The wifi worked great and there were lots of convenient plugs, There is a nice lounge area with a lovely adjacent terrace and snacks and tea and coffee available along with a nice continental breakfast. We were there on a Monday night so not all restaurants were open but we enjoyed visits to Precarious, Amber Ox, Mellow Mushroom and Aromas. Thank you to Billy and Sharon for a wonderful stay!
