I deal with a lot of vendors and I knew my same-day request (on a Saturday no less) would probably be met with cranky "not possible in the timeline" responses. Instead, I met Jolene on the other end of the phone. What a warm and positive person! She immediately took on my problems with grace and alacrity. She not only solved the heaters and blanket asks but also added so many details that I would never have thought of. Baskets to hold the blankets. Blankets tied with twine. Additional black napkins in case someone was wearing a dark outfit. Found local wines and beers. Just extremely thoughtful in everything she did. My event was not big or expensive. I'm from out of town so I'm probably not a repeat client (wish I could be!). And I had a very last minute weekend request. And Jolene pulled through 110%. I would trust her to plan just about anything. You'll be in the best hands.

At the tasting, we'd thought the bacon wrapped dates were a little over cooked. Kathy was insistent on us providing feedback in a way that almost no other vendors (in any industry) do. This made it easy for us to ask them to cook this appetizer a little differently, and it was a huge hit at the wedding! They were not the cheapest vendor, but their price is competitive and worth a little extra for the quality, and they helped design our menu to work for our budget. Their crew on wedding day was absolutely lights out!! They of course did an awesome job with all the normal food stuff, but they were also extremely helpful in serving the dessert and late night pizza that we'd ordered from a different vendor. They also did a ton that I'd have thought the venue was responsible for, but they helped regardless. On top of all that, everything was perfectly organized on the day of. There were no issues that came up because they had thought of everything in advance, making for a less stressful day. I'm really hoping this is the only time I get married, so tough to say I'd use them again, but I'd highly recommend them and if doing a different event would certainly hire them.

Mom's dutch, so wanted to send her tulips, but wanted them to feel exotic and fresh. They sent gorgeous french tulips. They were tall & vibrant in a large, simple pitcher I know she'll reuse. Mom was thrilled. I arranged for them to be delivered a couple days before Mother's day so she could enjoy them all weekend. Mom usually calls me right away when she receives something, but this time she took a photo and emailed me, but didn't get around to sending it till the next day. So they were in fact delivered on time but I thought they hadn't been and didn't want to call her & ruin the surprise if they were just running behind. Brighter Day confirmed they'd been delivered when I phoned and were super nice about me calling to check on them, and even called a couple days later to make sure everything was ok and she received the flowers. They then called my mom a couple days later to make sure she enjoyed the flowers. I've never heard of such a thing. I've never had a follow up call from a florist in my life. I was very impressed and will certainly call upon them next time I send flowers anywhere in Boulder.

PoshSplat - POSH..paint and wine studio

3 1/2 stars. For our first visit at PoshSplat, my daughter…read moreand I went for "independent studio time" since they did not have any public class during the day on a Friday. We've been to other studios to paint following an instructor, and it was always a lot of fun. This place has a great selection of paintings you can choose from, and then you just copy the one you select, or just do your own. The lady who was in charge of the place that day was friendly, but both my daughter and I very quickly understood that it was better not to change the water where you clean your brushes, or ask for another paper plate (that you use as a palette.) When my daughter asked where she could change her muddy water, she was told that she really did not need to, as the paint should get to the bottom of the pot and the brush would get clean if it stays on the surface. We looked at each other, quite surprised. After a while, I really needed to get some clean water and was told that the lady would do it for me as there is no available sink for the clients. Looking at the paint stains in the bathroom, I doubt this advice is followed by most, but I understand that they want to protect their plumbing and the environment. So after that, since we did not want to bother her, we just painted with brown water (and my daughter never changed hers.) I wonder what happens when an entire class (about 20 people) is asking at some point for fresh water.... I never had that issue at other places, and this was a big surprise and disappointment (that and the fact that you are uncomfortable asking for another paper plate.) I get that they don't want to waste, but you have to keep it reasonable. In the end, we've decided that when we want to paint again, we'll go back to Whimsy in Westminster, where they have a sink in the studio for the clients to use freely, where they give you whatever you need to paint comfortably, and where parking if free and easy. If you want to stay in Boulder though, it's always fun to do one of these session. Drink an extra glass of wine and you won't even bother about rinsing your brushes. Now that's a thought, maybe I should try that next time!

I'm really upset with the experience a friend and I had here the other night for a girl's night…read more First of all, I had assumed, that since this is a wine and painting studio, that the atmosphere would be relaxed and fun. I however, was completely wrong. The instructor on multiple occasions barked orders and "got onto" myself (and other people in the class) for using the wrong brush, putting the brush on the table (instead of on the plate), or using too much paint (or not enough paint). She felt very uptight. To the point that I was becoming anxious about "doing something wrong" and having her say something to me again. I think the worst part of the evening though, was when she came over to my canvas and altered my painting, without my consent. She didn't even ask me, and just put her brush to my painting to "fix" it. I understand I am not an artist however, if I had wanted to purchase a painting made by someone else, then I would have done that. Yet, I paid for a class to be guided on how to paint while sipping wine and having fun. I'm pretty upset that none of that occurred. I was willing to chalk this experience up to just having a bad instructor, but I found out the instructor we had is the owner of the place. I absolutely will not be back and do not recommend this place to anyone. The instructor/owner made it feel like we were in art school trying to get an art degree. I just went to have fun and paint a picture of some stupid poppies. Yet, I left with anxiety and a headache.

On a snowy day Reverend Kristen Hepp and the photographer, Sharon, ran into travel difficulties, but kept us informed. When they arrived (with gorgeous flowers!) the two of them gently and firmly cleared the chaos, offered options, got the pre-ceremony photos done, and whoosh! It was underway. Rev. Hepp's guidance thru the ceremony was traditional and modern, touching and sweet, compassionate and caring. We could see how much she loves translating a couple's commitment into permanence. Post ceremony photos then went off without a hitch - Sharon graciously both directing and accommodating the many permutations of family and friend photographs. Everyone is in there somewhere! Kristen and Sharon then moved all the relevant pieces and people together for the champagne toast and cake cutting. And the cake~ooooh. When I tell you that you should run from this company, I truly mean it. In the beginning,…read moreeverything made sense and it was super easy. I started working with them in February of 2022. I found a venue on my own, and they weren't going to send a planner with me to tour it even though it was in the contract. Weird right? I put my foot down and asked for a planner to be present as it seemed necessary since I wasn't an expert in the planning process. They sent someone fairly young but I said oh well at least she was there. Then, about 10 people were added to my portal as planners within the next two months. I had carefully selected multiple vendors during this time and curated a document with all vendors I requested they speak to for all major categories excluding videography. This was in April. In may, I asked for an update and I heard "we have not heard anything back." I let it go as our photographer was someone who actually was in contact with Ivory Events and our meeting was coordinates swiftly. This is one of two vendors that they actually followed through with. In early June, we went into contract with our photographer. I blindly didn't ask for an update with vendors due to being busy. I asked for an update in July, and heard the same response, that there was no response. In august, my anxiety peaked regarding vendor updates so I started reaching out to my original vendors on my own time. I then found out Ivory Events never reached out to my vendors. I was crushed. I demanded someone call me, especially after I got a casual response asking for my vendor list again and no ownership. It took weeks for someone from Ivory Events to call. They promised they would make it right. I should have fired them then but I gave them a chance again. They did have some effort with photography, floral, and DJ. Granted these vendors are extremely communicative and have been since I met them. They had some involvement in catering. However, the second that we ran into hurdles of a vendor not responding, Ivory events had no real plan or back up plan for what to do. Now, I'm talking 4 weeks of no response from a potential caterer and we were 8 months out so I knew this was super important. I took matters into my own hands and found a different caterer after their failed planning. At this point, I also should have fired them. Instead, I simply kept updating them on the progress I made on my own and research I did on my own. Here is a list of vendors/wedding processes I had to find and secure on my own with minimal guidance or concern from Ivory Events EVEN though it was in the contract for them to do so: Makeup, Hair, Videographer, Caterer, Wedding Dress Shopping, Tuxedo Shopping, Invitation suite, Wedding Website, Wedding Registries, Engagement photos, Save the Dates, Hotel Accomodations, and Transportation Accommodations.  Here is a list of vendors who Ivory Events contacted and initiated on my behalf: photographer, floral, and DJ. This company is nothing but a headache, and zero follow through. If you're smart, go somewhere else. Check their yelp reviews as well!!! I just discovered they were also called Seize The Day Event Planning. Those reviews are spot on to my experience.

Yikes! I hate to have to do this but it seems necessary. I started looking in to Ivory events…read morebecause they had a great track record. We're planning an event next year at The Woodlands in Morrison. I saw great reviews and a good offer from them. As usual, I spot check references, so I was excited when they told me they did 'a few weddings' at The Woodlands. So, of course I asked The Woodlands if they liked working with them. The Woodlands said, although they have weddings planned with Ivory Events, they have never worked with them. Hmmm, I thought maybe there was a mixup? So, I asked Ivory events for specifics around the events they organized. I received this rude response "We have an upcoming wedding there on 8/30/2020, but unfortunately to get the exact dates of the other weddings I have to search through our records and we cannot spend our time on that as we have to dedicate our time to planning our clients weddings. " In other words, we didn't. They are too busy to confirm that they did, at least. The venue said they didn't. I'm surprised to say the least. They have a great track record but chose to outright lie about their experience. That's a big red flag. I would have likely still worked with Ivory Events if they were honest and upfront. The fact that they were willing to lie about their experience, thinking I wouldn't look in to it, is extremely concerning. I would not recommend working with them.
