Nancy is very enthusiastic (and super friendly!) about her cakes and she definitely goes above and beyond expectation! There are SO many delicious flavors to choose from. My husband didn't used to like cake, until he tried Nancy's and he absolutely loved them all! My favorite was the Kahlua cake with maple filling...so amazing! Her artwork with the cakes are absolutely wonderful as well! I originally was wanting more of a simple white cake, but after discussing with Nancy, we decided to base my cake around my cake topper (lovebirds in a nest) and my cake looked like a tree! this is a long overdue review, but here's to my 300th! i hope that speaks to how highly i think of this local business! whenever any of my friends in colorado get engaged and start wedding planning, i immediately recommend nancy best cakes to them! wedding planning can be so stressful and just crazy but nancy goes out of her way to make life easier for you and to cater to your preferences, down to every last detail. her cakes are the ultimate winning combination of delicious, gorgeous, and very fairly priced. for $400 (through an all-inclusive package at my wedding venue), i was able to customize my cake inside out. it was even featured on the front cover of my venue's annual magazine pamphlet. while every single wedding vendor i interacted with tried to nickel and dime me for everything, nancy did the complete opposite. she quickly found out that i was a dessert fanatic and that i was super excited about cake tasting. i couldn't decide on just one or two flavors of cake to try so she gave me a sampler of at least 12 flavors and icing/buttercreams (with variations in sugar content), along with 3 types of fondant. i was planning a wedding from out of town so the one day i was in colorado, i had to meet with all my vendors in back-to-back meetings. nancy was extremely understanding of my situation and had a brief but comprehensive meeting discussing my vision for the wedding and the cake. all the cake samples were beautifully packed up in a neat to-go box that nancy had prepared, so that we could take our time and figure out our favorites at home. i did my initial tasting 7-8 months before my wedding because i was so excited about the cake and nancy didn't pressure us at all into deciding anything at the time. she said we could even wait until a few weeks before the wedding to finalize the design and flavors. of course, when i got to be around that time, i had forgotten which flavors i really liked from the sampler. really, it was more like i couldn't decide because they were all amazing. and i'm not just saying that -- i have had plenty of wedding cake and they taste just like they sound.... plain, boring, wedding cake. but nancy's cakes are truly something else. anyway, nancy was glad to give me another giant cake sampler the next time i was in town for another full day of wedding vendor bootcamp. my meetings were so packed throughout the day and some were going over time and pushing into other meeting times. i was super stressed and worried that i might miss my flight back to texas since i still had to make a stop to pick up the cake sampler. as i was figuring out what to do, nancy completely read my mind, called me, and asked if she could deliver the sample box TO MY HOUSE. what kind of ridiculously amazing service is this?! i was so extremely grateful i was at a loss for words. soo as far as wedding planning, i became a crazy person and pinned everything on pinterest. i literally had a board for wedding cakes with 75 pins and in the end, my cake was a combination of 4 cakes and a different flavor cake and icing in not only every tier, but each of the 3 layers in each tier! you do the math. i think any other cake artist would have fired me as a customer but nancy was glad to do it and so genuinely nice ALL THE TIME. and on top of our hands down gorgeous cake (for which she supplied the flowers bc our florist was too stingy to), she also made petit fours for our dessert table -- FREE OF CHARGE. it was truly unbelievable and i can't even describe how great everything tasted. just check out the pictures. :) i almost wish i could go through wedding planning all over again and have some sort of second wedding/renewal ceremony just so i could get another cake from nancy! she easily beats out other cake companies that charge minimums of $1000-2000 and adds on fees for everything! nancy has been doing this for years and is such a pro. she delivered and set up the cake and desserts on the wedding day (with a gorgeous cake stand of my choosing that she included for free) and everything went perfectly. i truly could not have asked for more. as far as communication, ashley b's review is spot on. nancy prefers phone calls but even if you email her essay-length emails full of pictures and requests she will read every last word and make your cake exactly as you envisioned. i LOVE nancy best cakes!!! p.s. her photos on yelp, her website, and her photo book are really outdated (think 1990 camera quality) but i'll be posting some of mine here so you can get a true glimpse as to how amazing her work is! read more

You were so professional and kind. When we did the sampling I could not believe what you did for us! You provided 3 different types of fondant to try. 3 frosting flavors, and several different cakes to try. We were floored at how much cake you gave us. I appreciated that you actually made us a small cake of what our wedding cake would look like. That was super amazing! We had a hard time deciding on a flavor because they were all good. We wanted a cake that was affordable, yummy and very beautiful. Your carrot cake and lemon cake was super moist and very good. Thanks for doing all the different combinations for our wedding cake. One of our favorite experiences from our daughter's and son-in-law's recent wedding was the wedding cakes from Nancy Best. They were absolutely gorgeous and delicious. We hosted two 2 large receptions with different themes and we needed two very large, but different wedding cakes, along with several groom's cakes. Nancy worked with the bride and groom to tie the cakes perfectly into their two themes. Each one was a beautiful masterpiece and absolutely delicious. She gave us several choices of cake flavors and icing t select from. Each one was better than the last. Nancy, of Nancy Best Cake Designs, was wonderful to work with throughout our wedding planning and on the big day. At our initial meeting, she brought a huge box that contained multiple cake flavors, fillings and frostings for us to try. She also included several pieces of her gluten-free cake flavors for us to sample on behalf of our gluten-free family members and guests. Nancy was very open to any ideas that we had for our sweetheart cake and cupcakes for flavors and designs. She took detailed notes at all of our meetings and let us sample all of the cupcake combinations to ensure that we got exactly what we wanted for our wedding. On the wedding day, she went above and beyond our already high expectations for her. The cake (three flavors, fondant, and intricate handmade flowers as the topper) and cupcakes (five different cupcakes, two were gluten-free) were all beautifully decorated and tasted amazing. We received many compliments from our guests, many of whom went back for multiple cupcakes to try all of the flavors. Nancy even made us a military appreciation cake with customized dog tags, free of charge. She was definitely one of the best vendors that we worked with for our wedding, and was readily available by phone to answer any questions. read more

Nancy is fantastic! I didn't have a chance to eat a ton of cake at our wedding, but what I had was amazing, and the reviews from our guests were raving about the cake. The design was spot on to what we had described to her. Nancy met with us multiple times before the wedding to discuss cake designs and give us generous tastings of different flavors of cake, filling and frosting. In a last minute pinch, I had run out of ribbon we were using for many different elements in the wedding, including the cake.
