At the tasting, we'd thought the bacon wrapped dates were a little over cooked. Kathy was insistent on us providing feedback in a way that almost no other vendors (in any industry) do. This made it easy for us to ask them to cook this appetizer a little differently, and it was a huge hit at the wedding! They were not the cheapest vendor, but their price is competitive and worth a little extra for the quality, and they helped design our menu to work for our budget. Their crew on wedding day was absolutely lights out!! They of course did an awesome job with all the normal food stuff, but they were also extremely helpful in serving the dessert and late night pizza that we'd ordered from a different vendor. They also did a ton that I'd have thought the venue was responsible for, but they helped regardless. On top of all that, everything was perfectly organized on the day of. There were no issues that came up because they had thought of everything in advance, making for a less stressful day. I'm really hoping this is the only time I get married, so tough to say I'd use them again, but I'd highly recommend them and if doing a different event would certainly hire them.

Emily, the Director of Sales and Senior Event Specialist, helped us build a thoughtful and delicious menu. The attention to detail, flexibility, and communication throughout planning made a huge difference. Quinn, the office manager, made the payment process smooth and simple. The entire team was professional, kind, and efficient from setup to cleanup. I've worked with many caterers, and this was by far the best experience. Highly recommend.

PoshSplat - POSH..paint and wine studio

We've been to other studios to paint following an instructor, and it was always a lot of fun. This place has a great selection of paintings you can choose from, and then you just copy the one you select, or just do your own. The lady who was in charge of the place that day was friendly, but both my daughter and I very quickly understood that it was better not to change the water where you clean your brushes, or ask for another paper plate (that you use as a palette.) When my daughter asked where she could change her muddy water, she was told that she really did not need to, as the paint should get to the bottom of the pot and the brush would get clean if it stays on the surface. We looked at each other, quite surprised. After a while, I really needed to get some clean water and was told that the lady would do it for me as there is no available sink for the clients. Looking at the paint stains in the bathroom, I doubt this advice is followed by most, but I understand that they want to protect their plumbing and the environment. So after that, since we did not want to bother her, we just painted with brown water (and my daughter never changed hers.) I wonder what happens when an entire class (about 20 people) is asking at some point for fresh water.... I never had that issue at other places, and this was a big surprise and disappointment (that and the fact that you are uncomfortable asking for another paper plate.) I get that they don't want to waste, but you have to keep it reasonable. In the end, we've decided that when we want to paint again, we'll go back to Whimsy in Westminster, where they have a sink in the studio for the clients to use freely, where they give you whatever you need to paint comfortably, and where parking if free and easy. If you want to stay in Boulder though, it's always fun to do one of these session. Drink an extra glass of wine and you won't even bother about rinsing your brushes. Now that's a thought, maybe I should try that next time!

I'm really upset with the experience a friend and I had here the other night for a girl's night…read more First of all, I had assumed, that since this is a wine and painting studio, that the atmosphere would be relaxed and fun. I however, was completely wrong. The instructor on multiple occasions barked orders and "got onto" myself (and other people in the class) for using the wrong brush, putting the brush on the table (instead of on the plate), or using too much paint (or not enough paint). She felt very uptight. To the point that I was becoming anxious about "doing something wrong" and having her say something to me again. I think the worst part of the evening though, was when she came over to my canvas and altered my painting, without my consent. She didn't even ask me, and just put her brush to my painting to "fix" it. I understand I am not an artist however, if I had wanted to purchase a painting made by someone else, then I would have done that. Yet, I paid for a class to be guided on how to paint while sipping wine and having fun. I'm pretty upset that none of that occurred. I was willing to chalk this experience up to just having a bad instructor, but I found out the instructor we had is the owner of the place. I absolutely will not be back and do not recommend this place to anyone. The instructor/owner made it feel like we were in art school trying to get an art degree. I just went to have fun and paint a picture of some stupid poppies. Yet, I left with anxiety and a headache.

Their personalities are MADE for wedding planning and dealing with hard to please brides. They are both soft spoken, not be to confused with push over. They just have a calm nature about them that puts you you at ease and reassures the bride that they don't need to stress. I would consider myself a hyper-perfectionist. I had no doubt that I could plan my own wedding... IF I had unlimited time in my life to thoroughly review & interview every single vendor within a 30 mile radius! One of my favorite things is that Heather only recommends vendors that are superb. I feel that every single vendor at my wedding was the best of the best - truly! If Calluna Events could please me on the most emotionally charged event of my life with zero complaints at all, I have no doubt they can please anyone. :) You're in good hands with Calluna Events.

I deal with a lot of vendors and I knew my same-day request (on a Saturday no less) would probably be met with cranky "not possible in the timeline" responses. Instead, I met Jolene on the other end of the phone. What a warm and positive person! She immediately took on my problems with grace and alacrity. She not only solved the heaters and blanket asks but also added so many details that I would never have thought of. Baskets to hold the blankets. Blankets tied with twine. Additional black napkins in case someone was wearing a dark outfit. Found local wines and beers. Just extremely thoughtful in everything she did. My event was not big or expensive. I'm from out of town so I'm probably not a repeat client (wish I could be!). And I had a very last minute weekend request. And Jolene pulled through 110%. I would trust her to plan just about anything. You'll be in the best hands.

The entire staff is so welcoming from the very first visit with them. When we toured the venue we instantly fell in love. The creek is so beautiful, along with the large trees all along the canyon. For us, the venue was the perfect size. We did not want something that would be too large where our guests were all separated. We had a moderately small wedding (90 people) and we were all together, yet not crammed in. Lyndsey was our day of coordinator. I can't write enough good things about her. She always greeted us with a smile, and walked us through the entire process. She never got frustrated, or failed to be understanding no matter how many dumb questions we asked. She was not only kind to us, but to our families as well. So many of my family members came up to tell me just how nice she was. Lyndsey made the entire wedding run so smoothly and I could not be more grateful. Amber took over after we left and she was nothing but kind! She made the remainder of the night stress free. Lyndsey and I had spoken about doing dirty sodas for drinks in the bridal and grooms suites since my husband and I are not big drinkers. Ultimatley, we decided just to stick with mimosas as we would've had to bring in the soda and I didn't want that extra stress. When we arrived, Lyndsey had set up a dirty soda station with Dr. Pepper (which we knew was our favorite.) This was such a small thing, but it meant the world. Lyndsey went out of her way to do something for us, although she had absolutely no obligaiton to do so. The food at the venue was delicious, I did not dislike anything that I tried! DJ Will was amazing and kept the party going all night! He timed the music perfectly as we were walking out. The venue staff came together and packed up all of our decorations so it was easy to load into cars and leave. Overall, starting out this process I was insanely stressed. I had no clue what I was doing, where to start or what to do next. Boulder Creek completely relieved all stress I had. Besides being anxious to walk down the aisle, there was not a single time I was stressed out during my day. To anyone debating booking this venue, for the price and staff you could not do better. I would highly highly highly recommend!!

Surrounded by a lovely garden, the interior of the barn/reception hall/Quonset hut was surprisingly stark and awkwardly decorated with gaudy gold cherubs and wishing wells. This was my only complaint about the venue. The farm owner talked to my party about the history of his farm and it's future development, and the chef socialized with us before dinner was served. The table was set with an endearing assortment of mismatched chargers, plates and flatware and the chef could tell the story of how he personally sourced each. The meal was served family-style: great wide bowls of freshly snipped salad greens and flowers were so thinly veiled by simple vinaigrette that the sweetness of the greens, pepper of the flowers, licorice of the fennel and snap of the stems was the star. Bread served, sourced at a nearby bakery was fresh and perfect to sop up every speck of the thick orangey Romesco sauce that held the grilled eggplant dressed with crunchy breadcrumbs in place. Roasted fingerling potatoes, slightly charred and addictively creamy almost played second fiddle to those seductive eggplant slices. Finally, wedges of an apple tart, dressed with cheddar cheese crisps and a dollop of sour cream was tasty, but did not seem to appeal to the group as it might in a more regionally amicable setting like cheesehead Wisconsin or the eastern seaboard. All in all, a simple, unfussy venue for a small wedding or a group event. The scenery and service could not be friendlier if a bit unrefined. I do hope more book this place in the future!
