    horrible waffle

The atmosphere is awesome. There's a beautiful outside seating area that's well done with Adirondack chairs and picnic benches and tables. Pretty plants and flowers. Came around 9:00pm on a Saturday for some dessert. We decided to grab a burger and chicken sandwich with fries. the food was good. The dessert was really bad. got a waffle with chocolate ice cream. They put it in the bag with the hot food. It was immediately melted and weird. I asked for more ice cream and they did it. No problem. The waffle was like a brick. Very strange. I would suggest people go there for the food and forget the dessert.

Love love LOVE it here! This is the perfect post beach eat seeing that it's only about two blocks from the beach. You may have trouble finding parking close by but I promise it's all worth the search around the block. Callie's is fenced in and it gives off park vibes ( lots of room if you want to bring your dog, I guess) . Theres plenty of picnic tables with umbrellas for shade and lawn chairs too. Definitely a Covid-19 friendly spot considering all seating is located outdoors. As you enter you'll see a window where you order your food/drinks. I had the fish and chips as well as the sweet chili crispy cauliflower...The cauliflower was divine. Had the right amount of crunch, and (since I like to smell my food as much as I like to eat it) I would like to note that the spicy (not too spicy) aroma tingled my nose in the most satisfying, dreamy way. Anyway, the fish and chips was pretty awesome. The fries were perfect too. This was one of those meals where I get full half way, but power through to the end because the food is too good to let it get cold/go to waste. Now the cherry on top is that there is (a bathroom) a bar on the opposite side of where you order your food and regular drinks. They have this delicious frozen strawberry lemonade that they sell for $5 a cup, $10 if you wanna add some alcohol. I also must mention the wonderful selection of sauces they have, but you will need to ASK for them. The tartar sauce didn't come with my fish and chips, but don't worry it and the rest of the condiments are free. I def will be coming back soon!

Home Callie's home So I grew up on the beach, and always seek places that make me feel at home. It's almost like this place was made for me. Not only is the bar a 5 min walk from the ocean, its as local feeling as they come. As in, the local softball game we just passed let out, and both teams showed up for a round, kinda local. Again, my kinda place Walking in, you'll find a bunch of picnic-style tables, and Adirondack chairs, along with a small fire pit that wasn't lit the night we stopped in (LOVE a fire pit). You order food at the counter closest to 129th and pay, and grab a table. If you're like me, you'll head to the other side of the little building and order a drink at the bar (same building, not the same window). Yes, they have a little outdoor bar with a few large TVs that play local games (the Yankees were on when we were having a light dinner and happy hour drinks). The patio on by the bar also has a deck, which I imagine is nice when it's wet (the main area is ground). The bar slings cocktails, frozen drinks, homemade hard ice tea, and also has little coolers outside where you can just grab a beer and let the bartender know. I love this - the bartender was on break, I grabbed a claw and nodded to her. Felt just like I was home. Decent enough food (I had fish n chips), reasonably priced drinks, and a killer vibe, if you're looking for a spot to get off the beach and grab a beer, look no further.

We couldn't take advantage of that coz we went on a Saturday, but it's a great deal if you want to swing by on weekdays. Everything's fresh, and portions are good. Service was friendly and efficient. I think I'll come back and try the new options.

They definitely piled the veggies on, which I appreciated. However, the beef patty was not great texturally. There seemed to be an issue with consistency, three of us ordered the same burger cooked medium rare but our burgers were cooked with different levels of doneness. One was perfectly medium rare, one was very rare, and mine was in between with some parts that were rare. The rare parts felt (and looked) too much like raw ground beef, tasted mushy. It wasn't a big deal though because it was still edible. If I come back here, I would probably just order medium to be on the safe side. What actually ruined the patty for me was the chewy, rubbery gristle. The other burgers didn't have as much but mine had gristle in nearly every bite. Thankfully, the brioche bun and veggies kind of made up for the meat. The onion rings were really fried and super crunchy; they almost looked burnt. It was a little too fried for me but I still enjoyed it. The spicy barbecue sauce was really good and had a tiny kick. I preferred the spicy barbecue sauce to the garlic aioli. The aioli was too thick so I liked combining the two sauces. The fries were basic chain restaurant fries, crispy and fluffy. I would be happy with ordering either fries or onion rings again. However, I think the onions rings made the burger more enjoyable. Pretty big place with lots of seating. Quick and friendly service.

The space inside is pretty simple and minimalistic -- clean, modern, nothing overly fancy. It feels like the kind of place you pop into when you're craving a good burger without making a whole production out of dinner. They focus on smash burgers, so you get those crispy edges with a juicy center, which is always a win. Everything is 100% halal, which I appreciate, and the menu has a few fun options like the Jalapeño Thrill, Garlic Mushroom smash, and even a Morning Flare burger with a fried egg and beef bacon. There are chicken and veggie options too if that's more your speed. I kept it simple and ordered a burger with fries, and it really hit the spot. Nothing overcomplicated -- just a well-made burger, good flavor, and fresh ingredients. The kind of meal that feels satisfying without being too heavy. Overall, it's a great casual stop in Bayside if you're near the train or just looking for a quick halal burger. Perfect for a laid-back weekday meal.

Actually checking out the inside it turns out it is a smashburger place that is reminiscent of the burgeoning 7th Street chain that is popping up everywhere. What I appreciate about this place is the menu has more options than 7th Street. Listening to my buddy Billy C who capitalized GARLIC MUSHROOM burger in his review made me intrigued, He was totally on the mark with this - I loved the pile of garlicky mushroom sitting on this burger. We paired this with the loaded fries which made a good shareable meal since we were not too hungry. Like 7th Street, Mexican coke is available if that is your thing. Other burger options include kimchi, jalapenos and fried egg in various configurations. Again like 7th Street, decor is unremarkable, but at least they have seating unlike most of the stand up tables in most 7th Streets Overall, this is a solid Bell Blvd option that should continue to thrive despite the dwindling bar/drinking culture that used to dominate this area.
