    Anticuchos

Food is delicious, but prices are a bit steep for what you get. It was interesting how they used big potatoes for the lomo instead of regular fries. I did enjoy the flavor of everything, especially the anticuchos. The anticuchos were probably my favorite. The meat was a bit overcooked in the lomo, but it still had good flavor.

Decided to check this place out after attending an event in the area. The food was delicious but the service was inconsistent. Our server started out great (very attentive) but towards the end of our meal was hard to get someone's attention (even though it wasn't very busy). The interior was bright and clean. We started with ceviche clásico (mild spicy) ,which was fresh and tasty, and empeñadas vegetarians. Then we enjoyed arroz con mariscos and seco de cordero. We finished with their version of flan. I really loved their dessert and the drink (chicha morada). It was like a Jamaica but with more warmth from the cinnamon and spices.

The entire ambiance is a vibe! What a cute restaurant. The staff was extremely friendly and the food was great. Food had a bit of a twist than the original versions, but still incredibly good. The food was great. However, I do think they can improve on their sauces. Like real aji amarillo, rocoto, home made blends, ect. I think those flavors would really enhance the dish. I think on the pairings for the empanada was great, but a little spice of aji would go a long way. The ceviche was good - however, the can ha was so hard and almost impossible to chew. So I left it alone. Overall, I think we were really satisfied with our meal even though we had minor hiccups.

My favorite dishes were the anticuchos, causa, and roasted chicken. Our waitress Laura made sure we had everything we needed and Juan Carlos (one of the owners) took time to greet us, which speaks volumes about their commitment to exceptional customer service. This is definitely one of the best Peruvian spots I've tried in the Bay. It was such a nice evening when I visited and I loved the outdoor seating. Overall I had a great experience and I would recommend trying Callao!

We were here on a Friday night, not very busy. Ordered a classic ceviche, pork belly appetizer, seafood rice and a beef dish. They were all very delicious, especially the pork belly. Service was great too. There were a few musicians playing live music, which was a plus. Will come back again.

Delicious food and service. It feels like a family home that you stopped by to try the dish they just made that evening. The calamari was perfectly fried in our ceviche and whew generous chunks of fish. Sooo good. The pata was nicely seasoned and so good. My friend and I split the food and it was just the right amount. I loved the live music, the friendliness of the staff. Thanks for a new spot!

The empanada was very meaty! Chunks of steak. We tried the duck rice and seafood rice entrees which were very good. Flavorful and the duck was cooked well. Callao is great new addition to Los Altos!

What an absolutely fabulous night we had! Callao is a welcome addition to DT Los Altos. The decor feels like you've been transported to a square in Peru, the food is delicious (the mixed ceviche is one of the best I've ever had, filled with flavors and textures) and the pisco sour was strong, not too sweet (I asked for a splash of syrup and it was perfect). They have a private room which is just beautiful but the back area is semi private and was perfect for our spirited birthday party of 5 ladies. The highlight though was the service. Diego couldn't have been more wonderful and welcoming. Please ask for him and tell him Donna says hello!! Go support this local gem!

Food was delicious and the waiters, Ricardo and Freddy, were very amicable and professional.

Fantastic food. I'm Peruvian and eating here felt like eating my grandma's home cooking. Serving sizes were generous and flavor was delicious! Drinks were great! We had the pisco sour, chucito and chica. We shared the ceviche clasico and yuca with huancaina sauce. For mains we had the Arroz con pato and carapulcro. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely be back!

    Callao: Arroz con Mariscos

Tried this place 8/9/24. Everything we had was really delicious. We ordered: Crab Croquettes Arroz con Mariscos Pescado - Ajiaco de Olluco (Fish was salmon tonight) Ribeye y Pure de Papas So the chefs really know what they're doing. Prices are on the high side (about $50 per person for food alone) but quality is good. Service was initially very good - too good! We had 2 different waiters coming to take our order. Then, once we were done, the restaurant had gotten full, and nobody was coming to our table - they seemed very short staffed. Will be worth 5 stars once they work out the service kinks.

My wife and I just had dinner at this restaurant. The food was exceptional. We loved both of our entrées, and decided to have a dessert which was equally incredible. We don't write a lot of reviews, frankly just too busy. However, this restaurant is worth it. It's new and so I hope they do well and that's the reason I'm writing this review. Definitely worth a try!!!!

Girls are always nice and friendly. We accidentally got charged for dessert and she corrected it immediately. Everything we ordered was really good, and they made all the dishes mild for us, which we appreciated. The ribeye was cooked perfectly medium rare and full of flavor. The tallarin verde pasta was a standout, the sauce was smooth, rich, and just right. The ceviche was fresh and light with a nice sour kick, and the tostadas paired perfectly with it. What really stood out was the service. We accidentally showed our server a dish from a different restaurant, and instead of saying no, he said they could make it. The restaurant was a little more than half full when we had dinner there on a Friday night and the ambiance is lively but not loud. We ordered a variety of dishes and everything was delicious, with very generous portion sizes that left us so full (with leftovers to spare). The ceviches were bright, limey, and tart in the best way, the chicken wings were crispy and juicy, the papa rellena was especially interesting (almost like an inside-out, deep-fried baked potato) with olives and raisins that were a pleasant surprise, and the lomo saltado was as comforting and dependable as it usually is. To top it all off, they even offer Peruvian beers, which was the perfect way to wash everything down. The location is a little bit odd but easy enough to find and park (there is plenty of parking across the main street in front of the BevMo if there isn't any directly in front of the restaurant).

It does NOT look spicy, but it is! I got the La Ronda Plate which had 3 items: combination plate of fried calamari, fish ceviche and seafood rice or seafood fried rice....everything was really good and fresh. It had flavor and really was cooked well, unlike the seafood and rice I had in Peru where my complaint was no flavor. Heck, go here and it will save you the plane fare! Got their Chicha Morada, pricey at $6.95 with purple corn pineapple & spices, I would probably not get this again because it was kind of like a bland drink to me...instead I would get their passionfruit drink next time. Both of us got their homemade flan which was a 5/5! Would definitely come back to try more dishes in the future.
