I had been having issues with my dryer making a loud noise and not drying and after having a previous person come and leave unable to fix it I called Callahan's. They sent John out that same day and not only was he able to fix it but he was very nice and helpful in explaining the problem. If it was possible to give zero stars I would. I contacted Callahan's in early summer to repair a clicking stove. It's now October, we received a bill for $275 plus tax, the stove STILL clicks and every time we call to get a status check on when it will be fixed, Callahan's says they're "still waiting for the part." Don't expect to ever speak with Ron, the only Long Island repairman for Callahan's. Instead, your call is directed to an ill-equipped office staff at Callahan's other office in Dallas, Texas. Really? Dallas, Texas? It took me 3 months to find out that the multitude of calls I'd placed we're being answered in Dallas, Texas. Worst appliance repair company I've ever dealt with. Save yourself the misery and don't get started with them in the first place. read more

Do not use this company!! Get a second opinion if you choose them before reading this. My 3 year old LG fridge stopped freezing (kept cold but did not freeze). I called Callahans after I found them on LG's support site for techs in my area. They sent Spencer the crook to my house, he spent 20 minutes taking off my freezer door to tell me it was going to cost $900 to fix because the repair was out of warranty to due a leak somewhere in the lines or connectors. He said he called LG with his supervisor earlier in the morning and confirm the repair was out of warranty (HOW? you didn't know the issue before you came out and diagnose it) He did not look me in the face when telling me issue or the cost I had a off feeling about this experience. I called LG, they said it WAS under a 7 year warranty and they sent an emergency tech out to my house the next day. The LG tech was amazing took him an hour to figure out it was the compressor and repaired same day. These guys are crooks, I presume they were going to charge me $900 for the repair then turn around bill LG for the warranty service. You have been warned. I wish I looked them up first on yelp to see their 2 stars rating. I hope you read this before you called them to diagnose your issue. Cross Posting my self for coverage. I called to request a repair to a broken oven door handle. The friendly technician came and looked, then said he would call back to see if the part was available. I never heard back, so I called three days later and was told the part is no longer available. I don't think it's fair to charge me $95 for basically a Google search. I wish I had read these reviews first. I have a Samsung refrigerator with water issues. The first guy that came out knew by looking at the refrigerator that the $300 motherboard was bad. I told them I didn't think so and I would not pay if it didn't fix it, it didn't. They replaced the pump, that didn't fix it. They then replaced the water tank and the heater for the water tank. They did not charge for the parts not needed but did way overcharge for the parts that I paid for. read more

Absolutely terrible company. Going through Lowe's for warranty service on our washer and dryer. The washer had error and wouldn't work properly. The dryer wouldn't stop running unless you open the door, inconvenient but still usable. Callahan's sent Steve out and he said our washer was dirty from using fabric softener, however we don't use fabric softener, we use dryer sheets. He then diagnosed the dryer as needing a new control board and ordered it. We complained to Lowe's and they sent a new company out to look at the washer and this technician said the washer had two sensors that needed to be replaced. He took care of it when Callahan's couldn't. Today Steve from Callahan's came with the control board for the dryer. He swapped out the control board then proceeded to tell me that wasn't the problem and apparently there are two more control boards he didn't know about and would have to order them. Now after swapping out a control board that apparently didn't need to be swapped out now the dryer doesn't work at all. I called and asked that they either get the right part today or bring the old control board back so we can keep using the dryer especially with Holiday week and Family coming for Christmas. She said they can't due to insurance purposes and risk of fire. This is complete and utter non sense. When I ask the lady at Callahan's for the owner John Callahan's phone number she refused to give it to me. So now we are calling Lowe's to complain yet again and get the warranty service set up through the company that fixed the washer after Callahan's couldn't. Merry Christmas to us. BUYER BEWARE! We had a problem with our Maytag dryer about 2 weeks ago in that it just stopped working. We contacted Lowes where we bought the dryer and they gave us Callahan's Appliance as a contact who had a low service call of $79.95. We were going out of town but set up the appointment since my sister in law was going to be there. The serviceman came and looked at the dryer. After some investigation he concluded that there was a problem with a copper wire corroding or something and it would cost $300 to repair. My sister in law said that was more than we wanted to spend and he left. When we got back in town we starting investigating the issue with the help of my son in law and Google. We found a common issue is the thermostat element goes bad due to lint build up. We found how to test the element by jumps ring around and that the test showed it was bad. We ordered the parts for about $30 and installed when they arrived. Dryer worked. It all took about 2 hours for a bunch of amateurs to diagnose and fix. Also, we found the tech tested the door switch by cutting the wires from the contacts versus popping the contacts lose with a screwdriver. We rewired... hmmm... $300 to fix. Sounds like a scam or a really poor technician. We will let the audience decide. read more

Horrible Repair Techs . Sent out an apparently clueless 'Tech' to fix my LG Refrigerator Ice Maker. He broke off a part to the computer board, and then tucked the wires that were to go in that connector behind to board before putting the covers back on, installed the wrong Icemaker model, and then left. 2 Hours later the Fridge iteself is not cooling. How do I know he did this? Because the next tech was a LG TECH, and discovered what Callahans did. They have never called back either. Now I am on my second week with a Broken Ice Maker under Lowes Protection Plan, and back to the same problem as beginning, except now with replaced computer boards and other problems still. I greatly appreciated this so I wouldn't have to sit around and wait all day. Rich was very knowledgeable and polite. He took the time to explain everything to me about my dryer. I have trying and trying to have them out to check my induction range but was not possible because they can't work with my schedule even for 60 minutes time gap. Rescheduled and rescheduled my appointments 4 times to ask to be rescheduled again. Their slogan is that they can't guarantee that will be there at that time , always getting calls that they are about to drive to my place hours early than request time. We recently had one of our ovens that stopped heating. We reached out to Callahan's Appliance late in the evening, expecting to hear from somebody the next day. Except, we heard back from Mike Callahan in less than 15 minutes from my request. Mike's team was the most expeditious, courteous, and professional company I have ever dealt with. Stuart was very professional and checked EVERYTHING before saying the GE product was known for problems closing the door. I was having issues with my fridge and freezer and called Callahan's based on them being recommended by LG. The technician who came out basically looked at my appliance for 5 minutes then suggested I replace the entire fridge and ensured he had already checked that we were not covered by warranty for the repair. I felt uneasy upon him leaving and decided to contact LG directly. Not only were we covered by warranty, it is now being repaired for a flat rate well under the cost of a full replacement. I did not have the service I expected when the Tech came over and looked at my dryer. I was charged a fee, which I was not happy about. The owners were nice enough to refund my money, which was only the right thing to do. More important, this speaks volumes about the credibility of the company. It isn't so much the money, but the principle that as a customer you are what keeps us in business and if we did not perform a service, you should not be charged. How many times do people stand behind their work and make sure that you are taken care of at all costs? You would not be in business if you had not built it the right way and at the same time it can crumble quickly if you lose site of making sure you take care of the customer. I needed quick help today with my refrigerator which was becoming extremely hot to the touch. There was an initial mixup in the arrival time of the technician, but Lauren contacted the owner of the company and together they arranged for another technician to make it out the same day. Eric arrived and quickly fixed the issue by replacing a faulty cooling fan. He was great, courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. After two repeated visits in which their technician insisted that he knows how to fix the problem, he could not do the repairs, and in fact he ended up damaging our expensive refrigerator to the point of beyond repair. But he told us the truth and did not pretend to fix something just to make money. The repairman, sorry, already forgotten his name gave us some advice on maintenance and said everything looked fine. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Worst customer svc, supposed to have a tech come out and svc my washer under a Lowes warranty between 9 am - 1 pm at 1:53 pm I get a call from a tech sounds like he's barley awake that he will be at my home in 30 min. I get a call at 2:29 pm but missed the call, since I do work from home. I called him back at 2:38 no answer. My husband calls him no answer. We finally call Callahan's and are lied to and told that he knocked and rang the doorbell. Not true I have 2 dogs who go biolistic when any one knocks and or rings the doorbell. I ask to speak to a supervisor Mike gets on the phone to tell me that his guy did knock and rang the doorbell then cuts me off from speaking. He then proceeds to tell me he should have left me bill for not answering the door. Here is the truth, these guys have so much turn over and hire anyone one this young service tech was ready get his weekend started and go home early. Tech was really good; or at least seemed to be knowledgeable. They came out and checked out our fridge and ice maker and supposedly ordered the parts for both. Took multiple calls and they finally came back out to fix it about a week later (fridge side) and told us ice maker parts were on back order and would be ~6 weeks. Less than a month after the fridge repair it is broken again; when I called them they gave me the run around that an appointment had to come from Lowes (who we had extended warranty through); they had cancelled order for ice maker because tech marked it complete (to get paid from Lowes I'm sure) even though it had not. When asked if they were going to come fix the work they did less than 30 days ago; I was told (and this was with Lowes on the phone also) by someone named Mike.... "NO, WE DON'T STAND BEHIND OUR WORK" and then hung up on me and the Lowes customer service manager. Hard to believe but I have multiple witnesses to them telling me they don't stand behind their work. read more
