Discount Appliance World - Old school! Been here since I was a kid! Happy bout that too

So, on Christmas Eve, my daughter came up from Washington DC and she brought all of her and her…read morehusbands laundry for the past three weeks. Her washer and dryer were not working in her apartment. She went to use my dryer and it didn't work. It just made a humming noise and so I thought it was the belt. I called Discount Appliance World in Geneva, New York, and a nice lady named Judy said that she would wait for me to come and pick up the parts if we needed them as she was going to close in 15 minutes. She also told me that if anything we had bought from her wasnt needed, she would take it back as long as we didn't open the packages. Well, after fiddling with the dryer while my daughter had the whole thing apart, it worked! Didn't need the parts after all. So she took the parts back today and Judy took them back, issued a check and said she almost called us yesterday to see if everything was okay with the dryer. Now, THAT is customer service. And that was after she had told me to call the store number any time over Christmas if we needed to ask questions or needed something else. Even CHRISTMAS DAY! I had bought the dryer from them a couple of years ago with hesitation because I could have gotten the same dryer at Lowe's for $50 less. But they offered same day delivery and take out my old dryer. That already was worth the extra. But the fact that the money helped a local business out and THEN went above and beyond for my family cinched my five star rating for a local business. AMAZING!

My new washer and dryer were just delivered and installed, quickly and efficiently! The gentlemen…read morewere very professional and helpful! Chris at the store helped me understand all the nuances of w/d technology as it's changed a lot since I last purchased. What I appreciate is the business is local and they service what they sell - no contractors that don't care if done right. If I need any appliances in the future, I will definitely buy from Chris and Discount Appliances! Check them out!

Want bad service? Horrible customer relations? Then by all means, Call Joe!!!…read more First off, I got charged $139 for a 15 minute visit from one of Joe's service workers. My dryer was spinning, was warm, but wasn't drying clothes. "It's clogged", he said. He absolutely positively guaranteed that was my problem. He didn't even examine the dryer. I took his word for it, as I have had this issue in the distant past. After disconnecting everything and checking all the vents, I found that was NOT the problem. Since this was a local business (I live in Bloomfield), I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and I went in to talk to them. I went into the store, explained the situation, and was given 2 more things to try, before they sent another service man to my house. I tried these 2 things, and neither of them worked. While I had the whole thing taken apart, I noticed that the fan/blower was no longer attached. I screwed it back in and my dryer worked again. Once again, I went into the store to try and reasonably explain my dissatisfaction with this whole experience. I got the original service worker who came to my house. He gave me a disgusted look and said "How was I supposed to know that???". I then explained my situation to the woman at the front desk, made no demands, and asked that they do the right thing, as I had paid $139 for an incorrect 15 minute consultation and ended up fixing the dryer myself. She said she would discuss it with management and get back to me. I waited a week, and at that point, I noticed my check had been cashed. I guess customer satisfaction (of a neighbor in fact) and return business are not important factors to Call Joe. Please please please avoid Call Joe Appliance.

If you are a parent, do not work with these people. When we set the appointment, we assured them…read moresomeone would be home. My husband even took a half day of work to ensure there would be no issues. We called and confirmed again our appointment and were provided a 7-hour time frame. We were told to clear out our entire refrigerator, turn everything off and wait - which is exactly what we did. When they finally did call us, we called them back in 8 minutes and were told they would not help us. I asked what the likelihood it would be he could show up today, and Marilyn told me she had no idea - she had just gotten to work at 1pm. I asked her how often he was typically able to come back to houses and she had nothing but rude comments to share. We have kids, I can't gamble our entire food supply for someone who doesn't know how to schedule appointments correctly in 2023. If I were Joe, I would be absolutely horrified to know how his customers were being spoken to. *EDITED TO ADD: Joe has responded to my Google review with quite an inaccurate rant. It appears he would not in fact be horrified to know how his customers were being spoken to
