Want bad service? Horrible customer relations? Then by all means, Call Joe!!! First off, I got charged $139 for a 15 minute visit from one of Joe's service workers. My dryer was spinning, was warm, but wasn't drying clothes. "It's clogged", he said. He absolutely positively guaranteed that was my problem. He didn't even examine the dryer. I took his word for it, as I have had this issue in the distant past. After disconnecting everything and checking all the vents, I found that was NOT the problem. Since this was a local business (I live in Bloomfield), I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and I went in to talk to them. I went into the store, explained the situation, and was given 2 more things to try, before they sent another service man to my house. I tried these 2 things, and neither of them worked. While I had the whole thing taken apart, I noticed that the fan/blower was no longer attached. I screwed it back in and my dryer worked again. Once again, I went into the store to try and reasonably explain my dissatisfaction with this whole experience. I got the original service worker who came to my house. He gave me a disgusted look and said "How was I supposed to know that???". I then explained my situation to the woman at the front desk, made no demands, and asked that they do the right thing, as I had paid $139 for an incorrect 15 minute consultation and ended up fixing the dryer myself. She said she would discuss it with management and get back to me. I waited a week, and at that point, I noticed my check had been cashed. I guess customer satisfaction (of a neighbor in fact) and return business are not important factors to Call Joe. Please please please avoid Call Joe Appliance. read more

If you are a parent, do not work with these people. When we set the appointment, we assured them someone would be home. My husband even took a half day of work to ensure there would be no issues. We called and confirmed again our appointment and were provided a 7-hour time frame. We were told to clear out our entire refrigerator, turn everything off and wait - which is exactly what we did. When they finally did call us, we called them back in 8 minutes and were told they would not help us. I asked what the likelihood it would be he could show up today, and Marilyn told me she had no idea - she had just gotten to work at 1pm. I asked her how often he was typically able to come back to houses and she had nothing but rude comments to share. We have kids, I can't gamble our entire food supply for someone who doesn't know how to schedule appointments correctly in 2023. Very bad experience. After several clear communications including the morning of the scheduled service, Joe did not show up or communicate. This was for an appliance at our airb&b. I travelled 100miles and waited 6 hours!!! I do not recommend this rotten to the core company.!! read more

Our dryer broke. Joe was able to get us an appointment that next week. He fixed our dryer, and answered all of my husbands questions with humor. He was direct and friendly. He was fairly inexpensive and very prompt. They told us between 11 and 4 and he was there before one. I definitely recommend Joe! read more

ZERO stars. I hired an electrician to fix some things that were damaged after an electrical surge. It turned out that my built in microwave needed a new circuit board, as determined by the licensed electrician that I hired. I called "Call Joe" and the woman I spoke to on the phone was ruder than I had ever heard anyone be in the service industry. Her words were "I can send someone out tomorrow but it will be $129 "JUST to have him show up at your door and walk inside"-her exact words. This is for the diagnosis ONLY. I told her that my electrician had tested the outlet and it was fine and that the issue was the circuit board. She said that they didn't care what anyone else had to say because they do their own testing which in this case would be roughly 15 min for the $129. I asked her if any part of this fee would be applied to the work that would have to be done. She said "No -as I said, that is the cost for the diagnosis". I told her that this would fall under my homeowners insurance and before I could even finish my sentence (I was just asking if they would provide a detailed receipt that I could submit to my insurance company indicating the problem". She interrupted me, and chuckled in a very condescending way and said, "Oh no you have to pay us directly". I was not disputing that fact -she didn't even listen to what I was saying. I took a vacation day to meet with their technician to fix my dryer. I waited all day. At 4:15 I put my phone on the charger. 20 minutes later I see I had missed their call and called right back. Bonnie informed me she sent the guy on and would have to reschedule and tried to claim I didn't have voice mail set up. LOL, I had two voice messages that day, neither from them, and I have had some since then. I don't think they tried to leave a message. So, my dryer is still not drying. I purchased this dryer from them in 2017, and called for service in 2019. They said nothing was wrong with it, but I had to pay a hefty walk in service fee for them to do nothing. I purchased a new dishwasher from them. Being single I have only used it twice. I had to call them in to fix the door lock as it wasn't working right. They did that and informed me I need a new circuit board. This was in 2020. It is now 2024 and I have not heard from them regarding getting this fixed. Once again, they charged a hefty service call but still not fixed. The staff got rude with me this last time and accused me of being nasty when I wouldn't stand for her tone. If you read their comments on google responses you can tell the owner is very unprofessional. I can not recommend this company. read more

I'd give ZERO STARS. Don't call them. I did not get what I asked for. The guy was grouchy. My son said the repair guy got pissy when I left. I called them after he left for 6 hours of not returning to my house because he had to get a part and told him not to come back. Now I read back some reviews ago. Same problems. I warn you. Joe did a great job on my freezer. I was worried about a delivery of wild Alaskan salmon that would be delivered soon and would need to be frozen. He came by the same day at 6:00pm and got it all fixed beautifully. Great guy and great work. read more

We have been customers of Call Joe Appliance since we bought our house in 1986. We have bought all of our appliances from Joe and have had him do all of our repairs since then. When my daughter and her husband bought their first home, we wanted to buy them a stove and refrigerator, so we called Joe's Appliance to order them. I explained to the woman that they had a gas stove in the house and wanted electric. I asked what had to be done. She said they would need a specific cord. I do not sell appliances as I am sure most of you don't either, so I did not know the procedure. Figuring they sell appliances they would tell me what was needed. She said a specific cord. That was it. Pretty easy. Well, they delivered the refrigerator and stove. They got the refrigerator in and then said because they would be switching from gas to electric they would need an electrician to come in and that would cost about $300.-$400. They decided to stick with the gas stove they had. Meanwhile Joe's would charge us a $75.00 re-stocking fee. I called and talked to Bonnie. I told her that I had expected her to tell me what was needed to switch from gas to electric and I did not appreciate paying $75.00 for a re-stock fee when had she told me what was entailed (like I asked) I would not have ordered the stove. She became rude and more or less said too bad, tough. As I said she was very rude. When I went to see my daughter's new refrigerator I found my son-in-law and daughter finagling the refrigerator and when I asked what they where doing they said they had to level it because the delivery guy did not. What he did do was put holes in her brand new linoleum from dragging it around. After he wrecked her floor they did not want him back in the house. He was rude and was put out that they did not have electric already hooked up and he had to take the stove back. A couple of weeks ago my husband called Joe's to have our stove fixed. One burner was not working. The repairman came in looked at shook his head and went to his truck for a screw driver, unscrewed a screw and cleaned it. Evidently when I cleaned the burner some of the cleaner I used went in a spot and solidified rendering the burner out of order. He was at our house 8 minutes and charged us $120.00. That is outrageous. I know Joe has retired and others took over, but I was not expecting $120.00 for 8 minutes work. I also, was not expecting this kind of price from a company where I have known Joe since high school and he has been our appliance company since. I understand a flat-rate just to walk in the door, but $120.00 for 8 minutes? Come on. Not only did I: #1 not get correct information for the stove causing us to pay a $75.00 re-stocking fee #2 the refrigerator was dragged on my daughters brand new floor ripping it up and was never levelled and #3 charging us $120.00 for an 8 minute job, but the delivery person (at my daughter's) and the service man at our house, and Bonnie were ALL incredibly rude and unapologetic. They did not care. It is sad to say but after 36 years of doing business with Joe (whom I like very much and he was ALWAYS fair and honest) and recommending him to everybody my family WILL NEVER CALL YOU AGAIN, ORDER ANYTHING FROM YOU AGAIN AND WILL TELL EVERYONE I KNOW TO STEER CLEAR OF YOUR ESTABLISHMENT. YOU ARE ALL RUDE AND DISHONEST! After 36 years we are done with you!!! And anyone reading this post - RUN! Call Joe's Appliance is NOT the Joe's Appliance it used to be. My refrigerator was not working properly. I called CallJoe and he showed up right on time. He didn't have the part needed, but ordered it right away. It came a day later. He came the same day it arrived and replaced the part. The refrigerator is workimg perfectly again. He was very friendly and professional. I will definitely call him again if I have any other appliance problems! read more

DON'T Call Joe Appliance is my recommendation. The repair tech arrived to my house with dirty boots and no shoe covers. I explained I have WHIITE carpets and he said he would take his boots off but if he hurt his foot (huh?) I would be liable. I suggested that in that case he should keep his boots on. He then turned around, walked out, and slammed my door. WHAT? After sitting around all day waiting for this guy I thought that was unprofessional and incredibly rude. We have had Call Joe for multiple repairs as well as a installation of a replacement dishwasher and above the stove microwave. ALWAYS very efficient , friendly service and very prompt. We have had both Joe and Mark here. Saved me from having to get a new washer which I did not want. BTW we paid a Newark dealer $96 service fee to tell me the same thing they could have told me on the phone FREE. They said it could not be fixed but amazing Mark was able to fix it . Just asked for refund on phone and female hung up on me. Called back she would not come to the phone. Just told the man that he sold my husband they wrong size bulb for dryer. Needed to know if I could get my money back he stated if the $$$$ is worth it to you have at it. He would not let me speak to the owner. My call was within 24 hours of purchase. He finally stated he would leave my cash for me in an envelope. He won't be there. read more

Told them what was going on with my washer when I made the appointment. Gave them details. When he got here he looked at it - listened - and said "you need a plumber". And then charged me almost $100. When he was writing up the bill I asked if it could be the washer, as no other washer created that problem and it's been going on since I got it. Call Joe rocks. Joe helped us fix our refrigerator late on a Friday night. It works, and it was an inexpensive repair.

My dryer stopped working - I called CallJoe and left a voicemail in the evening - they called me back first thing the following morning and set up an appointment for that same day. Joe arrived right on time (after a 20 min "heads up" call from the office manager) - got right to work - had the items required to fix it right in his truck - and solved the problem right then and there. I ask a lot of questions but Joe was patient, explanatory, helpful, kind. Pricing seemed fair. read more

We own a campground with several machines. I do not recommend Joe's services at all. He came and replaced the circuit board, and I paid $289 in faith that it would work. But it stopped working when I went to try it the next day. Obviously it WASN'T the circuit board (and he took our old one, too). He finally returned to check it again (after I called a couple times to complain) and he played around it with it some more but didn't fix it. He complained a lot about how these "new machines" are hard to fix. I get that, but I expect a return on my money then if he can't fix something. Instead while he was here this second time, he looked at another machine we had (non-coin op) and "supposedly" ordered a part to make that one work, but it's been a couple months and he has not returned with the part, or called us, or anything. We feel jipped out of our money, and we still have a non-working machine. He has not returned my last call. read more
