O'Connell Electric Company - The mess they left in my yard

    O'Connell Electric Company

I want to say that the people at O'Connell are the lifeblood of our company here. They have an…read moreincredibly kind, courteous, and diligent staff. It has been my pleasure to work with Andrew, Rich, Matt, Chris, Chad, Riley, Dave, Nick, John, and the rest of the team. They are so incredibly responsive, and they must be part of the reason O'Connell has grown so enormously. I am honored to partner with O'Connell for their projects.

A manager came to my front door early in the morning with a permission form to access my property. She told my wife they would take the lumber. My wife read the form and asked a second time. "You are taking the wood, right? I don't want the wood". She was assured they would take it. When the crew came to cut the tree down a couple of weeks later, they told my wife that someone would be back to pick up the lumber. They left the lumber in my yard and some in my neighbor's yard. Several months went by, and no one came for the wood. My wife had to find a phone number online to call the company. She left a message about the lumber. Jason, the Vegetation Manager, called and insisted we agreed to keep the wood. She relayed what the manager who came to my home and the tree removal crew all said. She also explained that nowhere on the form did she see something saying we were keeping the wood. He was very rude, and condescending. He berated my wife and told her she should have read the contract and shouldn't sign things she doesn't read. Excuse me? She DID read it. It didn't say we were keeping the wood. We were never given a copy of this form that says we supposedly agreed to keep the wood. I'm sure RG& E paid them to take the wood, yet here it sits in my yard 7 months later. We had a second tree that RG& E sent Birchrest to remove. They took all the lumber. No questions asked. No problems. Why would we agree to keep the wood from one tree but not the other? Because we didn't agree to keep ANY wood. What about my neighbors? Did they agree to keep the wood O'Connell left in their yard? I highly doubt it because it is still sitting there too, and I have unhappy neighbors. O'Connell employees were either misinformed or lied, but there was no excuse for how Jason talked to my wife. Very misogynistic and condescending. To add insult to injury, he never sent anyone to get the wood like he said he would when she called him about the issue. Don't let O'Connell on your property unless you have a lawyer look over the permission form, make a copy, and plan to take this company to court when they don't come back for the wood and decide to blame your wife and insinuate she's too stupid to read. This is inexcusable!

Their quote was actually less then a competitive quote that I received from another electrician. Since Clover recommended them, it was a no-brainer. When our hot tub arrived in town, we scheduled delivery with Clover. D and D was ready that day to spend the whole day at my house. We had to hook up the hot tub, but also get a new 200 amp panel installed. D and D took care of everything. On installation day, they arrived before they said they would to prepare. Dwight was the main electrician, and he brought 3 other amazing electricians with them. They worked in sync as a team the whole day to do the electric service, new panel, new meter and hot tub hook up. They answered all of my questions and gave me options for the best way to run lines or place devices. They also completed a few other small jobs while at the house. By 3:00 or so, everything was done and we were back in business with our new spa. Dwight is also a hot tub expert so he helped me start up the tub and add the chemicals. We have had so many poor contractors at our house that either don't show up on time or do questionable or slow work. D and D came on time, did the work efficiently and worked very hard until the job was done. i could not recommend them more for any hot tub install or other electrical work!!! -Very satisfied in Fairport, NY

They did no cleanup, and left insulation pulled back, resulting in ice dams. They also left cover plates off and ground wires not connected. One of their guys kept teasing our dog, causing her to bark - if she had bit him, they would have blamed me for it. I would not recommend them.
