The other informed me that the did not give quotes ahead of time for the type of work I described, and that I would be charged $137/hour + materials, and that they would just take care of everything when the arrived. Uh... tell me that doesn't sound like a recipe for running my wallet empty! On the other hand, Shayne of Magee Electric was happy to stop by and spent over an hour surveying the work that needed to be done. He wrote me up a very clear estimate, with a very clear breakdown of possible material costs (not really marked up at all!) and hourly rate (which was about half that of the other company). When he came to do the work itself, he brought an assistant to help out. He was super patient in answering all my questions and really knew what he was doing. Incredibly reasonable rate for quality service. They stayed past lunch so I ordered them a pizza which they really appreciated (and even adjusted my rate slightly for a discount -- Shayne's really so nice!). They were super professional and even insisted on taking their shoes off when they entered and even took out the pizza box for me. They really went above and beyond! Magee Electric is a business started by Shayne's father (grandpa?). It's local and family-owned, so another reason to support them! I'm definitely know I'll use them for any electrical work I might need done in the future.

His son and another technician ended up coming to our house to do the installation and we were very pleased with the outcome. They placed the charger in an ideal location and it looks very aesthetic and professional. They were very patient and walked through what they were doing. We ended up purchasing our own level 2 charger and having Mike's team install it. They made sure that after they drilled the hole for the wiring, it was covered with a metal piece to prevent any rodents from chewing the wiring. John came in…read moreon the day work was supposed to be done, took a second look, and explained how they didn't actually need to run wires, etc, they would only need to change a few things on the breaker and the outlet itself, saving us about $700. The original electrician I had called had told me the wire was too small and we would need to replace it all (without actually taking anything apart to see the size of the wire under the cabling) They easily could have taken advantage of someone like me who knows little to nothing about electricity, but instead, they did the right thing and earned themselves a life long customer.

Not reliable. 2 times consecutively, he pulled a no show/no call. I thought it was weird he said…read morehe would come on Saturday. Then, when he was 2 hrs late with no call, I called him and he said his kid had soccer. I thought I'd give him another chance thinking he just didn't want to say no when he said he would come on Saturday. He knew we really needed him bc my kiln was not firing and I needed service before the kiln tech could come. And so I thought he didn't want to say no. So we agreed to him coming Monday at 9 am. At 9:45, my husband called and he said (get this) he was late because he inhaled suds while in the shower. He said he was on his way. At 10:30, still no show, we texted him and told him to forget it. He never replied. During this, he wasn't answering his phone and his voicemail was full, too. And these were not even the first time something like this happened. Once before, a couple years ago, he came to give an estimate and during the estimate he fixed a small problem and said he would send us his estimate for the whole job. Then he couldnt come back to do the job bc he hurt his foot. Even though we now had to find someone else to do the entire job, we sent him a check anyway for the small repair he did during the estimate because we felt bad he had been in the hospital. He seemed like a good guy back then. But now I think maybe that was not true either. Anyway, I would not recommend. I don't like leaving bad reviews. But someone else one time posted a review about a company I was just about to sign a contract with. That person saved me from making a huge mistake. So now, when something is really bad, I do a review.
