I'm between a 2 and a 3 for this place. Bumped up to a 3 because it is always clean and the staff is mostly pleasant and nice. The food is mediocre at best and expensive for what you get. A basic chicken and cheese quesadilla with a side of sour cream is $11+. I've tried the power bowls and they were cold both times. The grilled chicken is juicy and flavorful, but the blackened chicken was unexpectedly fried and gave me a stomach ache. If you are looking for a super basic meal to grab in a hurry, give it a shot - but I would not eat here again. read more

Never in my life have been to a California Tortilla until last week. I went for lunch with a friend of mine and we both got the same thing: the sunset bowl along with chips and queso. I really enjoyed all of the flavors and variety the sunset bowl had. I love how they do spinach instead of lettuce. The queso tasted much better than I thought it would, definitely does not have that plastic cheese taste a lot of queso's have, which is good! The inside was very clean and tidy, the staff was okay, and the wait time was very quick! I would come back to California tortilla again, whether it be this location or another one. My online order was made correctly. However, the pick-up process was more convoluted than it needed to be. The website offered curbside pick-up, but this location has no designated curbside parking, so I had to circle a few times. Then when I did manage to park by the restaurant it seemed my only option was to call and let them know I was here for curbside, but I kept getting the message "the line was busy" so I had to run in anyway cause there was no way to contact the restaurant otherwise. read more

After wanting to visit this place for months, ordered a California sunset bowl and it wasn't as it was described. Not at all spicy and very tangy. They missed fresh avocado on it. Their screaming smoky chipotle was not spicy and was tangy as well. After having our food with much disinterest found out they had a big shelf of sauces to try. We thought they were for purchase. I have been a long time fan of California Tortilla. I didn't live near one for awhile after moving, and was SO happy when this one finally opened. Glad to say this place does NOT disappoint! I ordered take out from here for my family. We got nachos, street tacos, quesadillas, and a burrito. Nothing tasted fresh or was enjoyable. All of the meals were fast food quality at best but at fast casual pricing. We won't be dining here again. I'm from Southern California and this is the best mexican food I've had since moving here. The food was fresh, had an authentic taste and there were so many meals to choose from! The service was exceptional and the place was large and very clean. Drew, a manager, provided great service and was very knowledgeable on the menu. A cool part to the restaurant was the "Wall of Flame" where they had 100 different bottles of hot sauce to try on your meal! We've been going to various California Tortillas for years but I've been really impressed with them recently. They've added tofu to their menu which is cooked really nicely and tastes delicious. The California Screamin' burrito is so so good with tofu or with meat (husband is a non-vegetarian). I'm giving 4 starts primarily for a bit of inconsistency with the food as sometime sits been a little too salty. Also not a lot of options on Doordash to order any extra sauces, you basically have to buy a whole bottle at insane prices. Queso and guac are ok, nothing to write home about. read more

I am super impressed. I stopped her on their opening day, when they were giving out free burritos to EVERY Customer. Not only was the staff cool, composed, and super friendly - the food was excellent. I know it's a "casual fast food" place, but the burrito was absolutely delicious (i got the chicken fajita burrito). I also was lucky enough to get a free t-shirt, and a coupon for a free taco for my next visit. Very great first impression! Def will be checking it out again! read more

Food was fresh, but portions were dinky for the price. It's a step up from Moe's. We tried the Korean BBQ burrito bowl, California Sunset Bowl and made it the Fresh Deal combo. It was tasty but not filling. $26 for 2 orders is kind of steep for fast food. I do like their huge selection of hot sauce bottles with different spice levels. I would have given 4 stars, but the cashier was rude and not friendly at all. It was our first time there so we needed a minute to view their menu on top of the screen. Loved their food and loved they had the option for a corn tortilla since I'm gluten free. But after eating there I noticed I did not feel right and so upon more research I learned they use the same fryer for all their tortillas. So my food must've been cross contaminated with something that had gluten. Super disappointing since I really loved the food. read more

Great food and it's fresh as can be. The store however had domed ceilings. With the amount of children who are not being parented it's a nightmare to eat at. I've been here twice now (well, really three times, but the one time I stood at the counter while the gal making salsa stared at me but never said anything so I walked out) and I've only ordered tacos, so I can't speak to the other menu items. The flavors are so boring and they top the tacos with so much raw onion, (not even cut up small, big chunks), you can't taste anything but the onion unless you scrape some of it off. But maybe that's the point. They don't season because, you know, so much raw onion. There has to be a better place to get a taco in the area. read more

If you're a fan of Taco Maya in Lionville I urge you to turn around and run far away from California Tortilla. I understand I should not have had high hopes for a chain like this, but to say it sucks is an understatement. First, the blackened fish tacos were entirely too salty. Next, their salsa isn't really salsa, it is just cut up tomatoes and onions. Their chips taste exactly like the $5.00 bag I buy at Costco. Nothing special. If I had to rank this place with other chains, I would say it's slightly above Taco Bell. Needless to say, I won't be back. And please, do yourself a favor and go to Taco Maya. It's a brand new and the food it pretty good and the chicken actually isn't horrible and not just crappy frozen chicken. They have a hot sauce bar with atleast 50 sauces for those who like heat. The serving size of the bowl is very filling and taste fresh. The soda dispenser is the coke machines that are touch screens with all the different options. The only thing that let me down was the guacamole and salsa they both were served in small portions and both were kind of let down taste wise. The guac need a little something more to it and the salsa was just tomatoes and some herbs no peppers or onions. read more

The food is good if they get your order correct. Sometimes they don't add much of some ingredients that were on the menu. One time my friend also got food poisoning there(she had a quesadilla and chips and guacamole). Sometimes the guacamole is a little brown.
