12/13/25 - Early dinner tonight with the storm coming and the gang wanted Mexican food. I've been seeing reviews about a new place in Milltown, NJ called Milltown Tex Mex Deli. The name would lead you to believe that it's a small hole in the wall dive. And it may have been that way at one time but they have bought out the space next door and are converting it into a huge 2nd dining room. If a place is expanding that tells me one thing: the food is good. And it is! I ordered chicken fajitas with a side of rice. The fajitas were very flavorful and had generous amounts of chicken. Its also a very large portion so I know what I'll be eating for lunch tomorrow. The rice was a tad on the dry side but I added in several of the sauces and it was good to go. The main dining area is really cute--- definitely a good stop for a date night. Parking is a bit hard to find as you have to turn down a side street to enter the lot in the back of the restaurant. And the food comes out hot and lightning fast. I will definitely be back as they have a very large menu and there are many dishes I want to try. Overall Rating: A- read more

I have been going to this place for 2 years and it's on and off when they are busy they constantly make mistakes with you and blame it on them being busy. They are so unorganized I have gotten the wrong tacos on 3 occasions and today I didn't even get my order. I had my mom pick up my order and they waited 45 minutes to be handed the wrong tacos twice and when they said it's the wrong type of tacos they got mad and said my mom was playing games with them like that's what I do on tuesdays call up places and just mess with there orders . Very disappointed and disrespected. read more

Ideally 3.5 but knocking down to a 3. This place has received a lot of hype in our local town forum. On Main Street. Street parking. There's a small parking lot behind the tattoo shop next door but I'm not sure if you can park there. Place was totally empty on a Friday night. You order at the counter and seat yourself. Chips and salsa were good (they don't come with your meal you have to order it). Red salsa is VERY spicy. Husband had the steak fajita wrap. We didn't know it came with fries. The fries are DELICIOUS. The steak fajita wrap was super greasy and just soggy and dripping in liquid. It was also a massive burrito and not really a wrap. I had the carne asada and chicken tacos. Both meats were very dry. The guacamole was alright, fairly bland and had tomatoes in it. Both tacos were covered in a THICK layer of onions and cilantro. Raw white onions. Enough cilantro to make it a salad. Like way too much. $3 for jarritos and glass bottle coke is very expensive. I got the glass bottle mineral water which seems ridiculous to charge $3 for. Chocolate cake to go was fantastic. read more

Someone suggested that I try these tacos since they know I'm a taco lover. I was not disappointed at all however, I have had better. I will be back here on a Sunday or Monday when they have their Birria taco special. I heard that's a smash however the service was good. They did mess up my order, but I'm not mad at it because the food was worth it and I'd rather have it correct so I waited until they made me another order. The ambience is very cultural intruder Mexican cuisine. read more

The food is absolutely amazing and without a doubt the best Mexican food I have ever had in my life. The people there are incredibly kind and welcoming. They always make sure customers are well cared for and have everything they need. During my last visit, I even witnessed them giving out roses and balloons to moms for Mother's Day. It was such a thoughtful gesture and shows how much they truly care. I go there from time to time and each visit is even better than the last. The prices are fair and very affordable for the quality you get. I recommend this place one hundred percent. read more

We love Milltown Tex Mex Deli! The food is always very fresh and delicious and the restaurant is welcoming and cozy. We had our daughter's birthday catered by them and they went above and beyond with very generous trays and all the fixings. All of our guests were raving about the food and left the party happy and full!!! read more

My wife and I have been here twice so far since they opened. Both experiences were excellent! We are local to town, so this spot is a welcome addition. The restaurant is large, there is a separate room which they may use for larger parties but there is plenty of seating inside. Both times the tables were clean, and the service was impeccable. The staff is so lovely and happy to give you recommendations. We have had the basics like tacos, tostadas, birria, and nachos. The elote is awesome! We have also tried the specials such as the enchiladas mole. It was 4-5 shredded chicken enchiladas smothered with homemade sauce. We were dipping everything we could into the sauce at the end, amazing! It is BYOB if you care to bring in some cervezas to enjoy the meal. We will be back many times over. read more

I took a walk around Milltown recently and came upon this restaurant. It's in the same spot where another deli and small ice cream/custard place used to be. Anyway, It ROCKS! I am so happy I can get Mexican food in Milltown. They even have Tlayuda which is from Oaxaca and I have never been there but always wanted to go, now I can at least have a taste. Next time I will bring friends and order one because they are big. My food was presented by a very sweet man who greeted us kindly and a woman who also seemed very pleasant and kind, although she was back there behind the counter doing a lot of important work. Because the food is beautiful and delicious. If Milltown gets any sort of Night Life again (post-Covid and Golden Lion) THIS Place could be an important part of it if they decide to open past 8pm. Also it is large enough to hold quite few people and bright and airy. Well lit too. Go here. Go here when you read this Monday thru sat from 9 to 8 pm and Sunday from 8 till 5. read more

I don't know what went wrong ... maybe I just came on a really good day last time but todays experience was horrible. The tripa was stinky, not cleaned, and purposely cut into large pieces to to hide the fact. The carne asada taco was way too salty. The cabeza was clearly a day or two old and still flavorless. read more

Excellent local Tex-Mex spot on the Main street in Milltown! Ordered the basics for now.... 2 varieties of tacos ($3.50 each) that are excellently prepared and is delicious and not dry, a large portioned Cuban sandwich ($11) and a burritos large enough for 2 servings ($11). Plenty of parking in the back and plenty of seating in a high ceiling contemporary interior. The carnitas tacos are especially my favorite and packed with well-seasoned serious filling! read more

The food was okay. My boyfriend got the shrimp tacos and he says that it didn't really have much flavor, and it was just spicy. I got the chicken tacos, and they were okay. Very dry but and there wasn't much flavor. All I really could taste was tortilla. We also got pico de gallo and chips with guacamole which were both fresh and delicious! We also got rice and beans which were good as well. The prices were good. We got all of this food for around $30. read more

Went there for a late dinner option since we were doing things at the house . Food was a little pricey which I was fine with , but when I got home my chicken burrito was mostly all rice. If I wanted to have a rice dinner I would have gotten a Ben's original jasmine instant rice down the street at the gas station. Don't think I will be going back here. read more

We ordered takeout for a weekend lunch. I had the shrimp tacos and they were excellent. The three tacos were filled with really good food. Others in my group ordered burritos, and they all said good things about the food. I also had a side of French fries and they were extra crispy- my favorite. I really appreciate that the dishes were generous with the fillings - nothing could be a bigger letdown than when something is all bread and no sustenance. But definitely, at Milltown Tex Mex, you're getting a hearty meal. Highly recommend this place. read more

I've been here a few times so far. Only take out. The food is awesome. Best place that I've found in the area.

I ordered enchiladas Rojas and they sent me this, the flavor of the food was very unsettling and the chicken that was inside of the enchiladas tastes rancid it also came with black beans and they also taste weird the worse part of this was that they only give you two enchiladas and and they don't even put that on the description of the menu it was more rice than enchiladas it should be call rice and red salsa. 3/10 would recommend. read more
