If you want a company to leave your front door open so your animal can run out, this is the company for you. Saving money on heating bill and a runaway pet, what more can you want from an HVAC company? I recommend using EcoPro HVAC company in Pittsburg, they are also under Fidelity Home warranty. I regret not requesting them when they did such an amazing job on my other unit in the same building. The receptionist prioritizes new appointments and puts follow up appointments to complete the repairs at the bottom of the pile. They use the excuse "she got swamped by new appointments due to *insert weather problem*" Their communications system is faulty so you'll never receive their rescheduling or eta text messages they they send you. They changed an appointment time on me , never notified me, and waited until appointment window was over to give them the benefit of the doubt, Only to be told "we apologize our system didn't notify you of the rescheduling". Cal. HVAC was Dispatched by Fidelity Home Warranty Duration of repair time march 2023 - may 2023, repair has not yet been completed. Poor customer service and even poorer technician and repair service. Each appointment or follow up will have a different technician come, and each technician will diss the thermostat and that was installed by their own tech at the previous appointment and recommend to replace it (Replaced 3x by them since nov 2022). Along with dissing the repair work, then they have nothing to say when the tech on site is told it was their own company that did the job earlier in the week. They're so slow at repairs that my home warranty ticket expired and they had to re-open it... they're sooo slow at processing your paperwork that they came out to my property twice in a week and only sent fidelity info from the second appointment and not the first one, so there's no official home warranty record of the thermostat being changed the second time... This company has been a bad joke in our eyes. Our priority was a quiet system, and we were told the new system would be much quieter. It is at least twice as loud. The thermostat was not completely installed. We still can't get it inspected by the city because California Heating and Cooling has not notified them of the installation as they said they would. We asked that a someone from the company come by and address our concerns, so we set up an appointment with them and they never showed. They now say they will send a technician out later in the week. E-mails we sent to the salesman have gone unanswered. This whole situation is unacceptable and we regret using this company. read more

Had a very bad experienced with this company they were the 2nd contractor that our home warranty chose to do a 2nd diagnose for our AC central in which the 1st contractor that they sent reported the same that we need a new AC Central. As of now, 3 days had passed no report was given to our Fidelity Home Warranty, no action was done. Since this weekend it will be extremely hot & unbearable without our AC running, how could this simple job of reporting to our home warranty be taken lightly! Oh! Are you the worst of all! Mirror mirror on the wall who's the worst AC company of them all? This one wins. Now I wanna start off and say the technician that came out was actually very nice and friendly and helpful but it was obvious that he was held with the constraints of this company. This was the third company that my home warranty sent out over a period of four months. The first visit the guy said the issue was the same as the last company said. So I knew he was great. He took pictures and said he would go back and get the part. Then the company said I needed to flush out my entire system in the whole process which the warranty would not cover and it would be $600. I said OK. The guy came out, he flushed out my entire system, and went to fix the part to then tell me it's the wrong size. He said he would go try to find a right size part but if not he would have to fix my coil. A week went by, and my warranty called me and said he couldn't find the part so I would have replace everything. When I talk to my warranty they said that required a lot of permits and such things that it would cost me near $4k which I turned down. When I called to ask if they would turn my unit back on, the lady in the office was the rudest person I've ever experienced and yelled in my ear "no we aren't going to do that because it would ruin your unit". This lady was the rudest person I have ever experienced and was attacking me (the client) on the phone as I was just trying to explain that you left me with my hands tied. They have put me in a worst situation than when they had originally came out. Whoever is answering the phones in their office needs some serious customer service training. I was just appalled by her attitude and tone. Then a week later when they called to schedule because they had to order the coil despite me turning it down, I let the lady know that I had said no but I did want someone to come out and put my unit back together because it was in pieces. They did but still did not turn it back on. I later learned that they had drained my entire unit of the refrigeration and they never had to do that. I was able to find a company who was great to work with, Cozy Home Services, who actually ordered the TXV valve from the manufacture and came and replaced it. Now why couldn't this company have just done that? However, I actually had to pay $800 to get my tank refilled and was told that this company should have never had done that because it wasn't necessary. I feel this company should give me a refund for the refrigeration they took out of my unit unnecessarily. To top it all off, they put their stickers on every spot they could find (outside unit and inside) as if they wanted to "piss on their territory". I've removed them but lesson to everyone BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY! read more

American Home Shield Warranty company contacted Calif Heating & Cooling because our A/C was not working. it turned out that our 38 year old A/C finally died. Yes this was in the heart of 100 degree weather that the A/C died. CH&C replaced the A/C and their office mgr. Janelle pinpointed the fact that the existing "coil" was not going to be compatible with the existing coil so she troubleshooted our problem. I appreciate her expertise and communicated to the American Home Shield Co. to get this $ 2800.00 coil/cord to be covered with warranty company to be be paid. I appreciate the fact that i informed Janelle that if there was a cancellation we would take the next appointment. Sure enough someone cancelled. the A/C was installed yesterday and is working 110% better air flow. I know this is probably not important but they cleaned up when they were finished. Also, they were timely in their arrival time as scheduled. For our needs of replacing our A/C we were very pleased with the work and the new A/C. read more

Our central air conditioning broke during the heat wave. Our home warranty dispatched our claim to this company which I was weary of due to the numerous negative Yelp ratings. They did call me immediately to schedule an appointment for today between 9am-12pm and were friendly on the phone BUT they were a no show after we stayed home from work for the appointment. So loss of income and still hot as hell in my house. Thank you for nothing! We just got a call from the company stating they received a cancellation from our warranty company and they wanted to know if that was accurate because our appointment for the afternoon. Incorrect! American Home Shield sent this company out. BEWARE!! The first person had no idea about our current equipment. We then got 3 other BIDS all telling us our HAVAC system is too old to repair. I turned those in and American Home Shield required this company to return. They sent another person out. This time they agreed it was old, no replacement parts and should be replaced. They NEVER turned in the report! It's 100 degrees out and we have NO air. I called and called, American Home Shield called several times. After waiting over TWO weeks in the heat, We gave up. This company really went above and beyond! The issue I had with my furnace required replacing a part that is no longer made so the best fix was to replace the furnace. The home warranty company was insistent that another part could be modified to make the furnace work and wanted California Heating and Cooling to try that instead. While the modification could have worked, if it didn't the leaking in the ceiling could have reoccurred and caused all sorts of moisture damage. Thank goodness this company worked with me for several weeks to provide the necessary information and ultimately helped me get the correct remedy. They were always polite, prompt and provided excellent customer service. read more

Wow! I have never received such quick and good service from a warranty-contracted company. We placed our order late on Friday afternoon, Sat morning we were given some options for Monday which was shocking they could get us in so quickly during a heat wave. Then they called and told us they could come the next day. ON A SUNDAY!!!!!! They were in and out in 30 min and my house is already cooling down. Granted it was just a loose wire but the fact that they came so quickly was a godsend. Out other AC unit that died last summer took 7 weeks. Super happy with our service! read more

Long story short, don't waste your time with this company. Finally, the appointment day comes and the technician didn't seem to find any problem with the furnace. Surprise. But then he walks over to my thermostat and tries to blame the issue on an incorrect install. I insist the problem happened before the Nest even went in. He insists on "fixing" the wiring (the wiring was replicated from how the previous thermostat was, a splitter from Rc to Rh). Less than 24hrs later and now I have a message on my thermostat saying the wiring is wrong and my heat won't work. Completely new issue. I call back the company to have them return and fix the issue the technician created. They tell me they can come out Monday... today is Thursday... you want me to go 5 days without heat? Talked to the manager. She asked if I needed my Nest repaired... NO. My nest wasn't the issue until Mario made it an issue. Ok, now they can come tomorrow to fix it. He's the only tech they have currently so I don't have a choice. Update: the owner Raul is great. But if you want to avoid the hassle and the argument then choose another company. This technician told me I'm lucky I don't live in Texas where people are dying, that I'm very negative, and left me with no heat. My boyfriend had to fix the shotty wiring job and we got our heater to work. We're having our home warranty switch service providers so we don't have to deal with this technician again. read more

Our A/C unit stopped working a couple of weeks ago, so we called our home warranty company for a repair. California Heating and Cooling was the third company that the insurance company sent the request to, but they should definitely have been the first. The CA H&C technician, Mark, came out to do the inspection and diagnostics. He was wearing a neat, clean uniform and was very professional and courteous. He finished his diagnosis in less than 10 minutes and told us that the repairs that the other two companies "diagnosed" were unnecessary. We only needed to replace one part (the control board) and a fuse. I was already happy with how he presented himself, but the fact that he was completely honest about what was necessary instead of trying to milk the insurance sealed the deal for me. It took about a week to get the part, but that was an issue with the vendor, not with CA H&C. I called back twice during that week to check on the vendor's progress, and both Sam and the other young lady I spoke to (I didn't get her name, sorry!) were very polite, courteous, and efficient in providing me with information. I spoke to Sam on Friday, and he told me that the part would be finally available for them to pick up on Monday, and the technician would be out to do the repair that morning. We were given a window of 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM. I had to work, but my sister came and stayed to wait at the house. The CA H&C office staff texted me at 10:30 to let me know the technician was on his way. Mark showed up at 10:45 with the parts and got to work. He installed the parts, tested everything, and had it up and running within 15 minutes. He then called me to let me know that everything was done, tested and working before he left. I was very impressed with everyone I interacted with at this company, not to mention their ethics and honesty, and I would *highly* recommend using them to anyone who asked. read more

Just like other reviewer - AVOID this company unless you intend to bang your head on the wall out of frustration. First, during 100F days, they gave me an appointment 10 days out (and didn't return my calls) and then the guy shows up and can't figure out my multi-zone system (says it's not zoned, then tests and says yes it is). Says the system is not variable speed and then checks the model online and says it is. Then says sorry your condenser line is frozen and he needs to come back then fives me date 2 weeks out. Again - during 100F days. If I had known of such service I would have certainly called someone else. BEWARE AND STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. read more

I was impressed, Mark showed up and within 15 minutes he had my A/C system back up and running! This company continues to be honest, hard working and works until the job is done and done right. Had our gas wall heater go out on June and knew it needed to be fixed/ checked out before winter. Mark came out and diagnosed the issue as the pilot light having gone out and the ignition switch being too far away from the pilot line. Fixed that and then took off the covers and vacuumed them out and checked for cracks before doing a tune-up check on our other heater as well. Absolutely a great company and the office staff (Sam and Evelyn) are always helpful. Looking forward to continuing to work with them for any heating or cooling needs in the future. read more

Zero Stars.. this is the worst contractor I have ever needed to work with. The technicians are rude, purposely sided with insurance company over hard working individuals and the company will cheat you out of money an every time. I've become sick, lost sleep, money, & time as a result of this company. Now I will be filing a claim against this contractor and insurance company (Fidelity)for not being willing to properly do diagnostics on my furnace, as another contractor indicated my furnace was fixable. Both entities obviously are undermining customers & only using self serving interests. This company is not trust worthy at all & will cheat its customers. Do not use there service, if an insurance company sends them out, know in advance they have pre determined their diagnostics. *1/22 - Claim Resolved - company removed and replaced by fidelity. Originally, I called Freschi when my A/C went out on Thursday evening. The guy shows up Sat morning, runs a voltmeter, and tells me that my motor is shot...$99 later. Oh, and he said it would cost 18K for a new one. Hold on...I already have central air. Now you've gone too far. So now I've spent an hour setting up my portable in the window and I finally find my home warranty. Good, I'm covered. They send out Mario today, who tells me within 5 minutes, that the module is loose. Up and running, even found a wire bracket to keep it from vibrating out again. I'm so happy, I ask Mario to upgrade my thermostat! Seriously!!!! Nice to know that integrity and wisdom are still available if you call these guys!! So when my 1977 Rheem Classic does its' final death spin, I'm calling you guys for the install! Thanks Mario!!! read more

The ancient heating and air unit in a rental property in Concord died, and we expected difficulty replacing it because the unit was so old, and because it required removing a wooden fence for access. California H&C gave us the best of two estimates to replace everything, and we found a separate contractor to remove and replace the fence. CH&C worked with us through several scheduling issues that dragged out the process. They replaced the 40 year old mechanicals, updated to current code requirements, and communicated well with us to get everything done in a reasonable time frame, and to get inspections done. Very helpful, very communicative, cost effective, and of course the new system passed inspections and is running smoothly. We were very pleased with the process and the product, and recommend CH&C highly. read more

Recently our A/C had started leaking during the heat wave. Was first introduce to them as I was actually looking for independent quotes on a new system. Sean one of the sales manager came out gave us numerous different quote depending on our budget but all that would efficiently cool our home. Not only was he considerate of not trying to just up sell us but then spent countless hours explaining each difference to both me and my wife to allow us to make an informed decision. Within dealing with this we had one attempt at getting this covered by our home warranty company, who'd already tried to send out two other companies both horrible experiences. Mario then came out to find what the true problem actually was with the current unit rather then just saying it couldn't be fixed like the other two companies. He quickly and efficiently fixed the issues with no extras and our system has been working great ever since. It still gets better, after fixing it unlike most other companies when Sean touched base HE DIDNT TRY AND CONTINUE TO SELL ME! They respected the fact that at this time our machine will work and we weren't going to be purchasing a new one, but instead cared and told us they would be there when we were ready. They have hit every note we would have asked for and will be sure to win my business when we are ready to replace our machine, I highly recommend working with them. read more

I want to comment on a rude exchange with a customer service representative. Today, Monday, our a/c will not turn OFF. She tells me that appointments are being set for END of NEXT week. I said that that's a long time to wait. And she tells me that "other customers a/c are not turning ON and that if I don't like the wait, I can go to another company." She knew that our home warranty (Fidelity) directed us to them. I answered that maybe they were short-staffed and needed more employees, if the wait time for a repair was 2 weeks. Again she reiterates how other of their clients also have problems, and that if I don't like it, to go to another company. Her answer suggests the following: 1. That I should be grateful that even though their product is damaged, at least it turns ON; 2. That I should compare myself to how other of their customers are suffering and be grateful; and that 3. Even though I'm paying for a service, I have to put up with an attitude, that in my opinion, falls below what one would expect from customer service. Having a damaged a/c in an area where the heat reaches 105 degrees is a matter of life/death. Please make sure that your staff understands that they're not doing us a favor -- they are offering a service and that we are paying. We will wait patiently for our turn for an appointment, but do not invalidate our problem by comparing it to your other clients' problems. read more
