Epic Dog Academy

When it comes to our fur babies we want the best care, peace of mind, quality training and a place…read morethat will love our baby just about as much as we do. Epic Dog Academy is that plus more! Everyone from the owners, receptionist/office manager, trainers, kennel techs are friendly, professional, go above and beyond to make you feel at ease about the care of your pups. I brought my five year old female boxer with reactivity issues in for behavior modification daycare training. She was paired with trainer Erin and I was blown away by the positive changes in my dog's behavior! Erin took the time to build trust with my dog and with me. Erin set the foundation for my dog and taught me the skills needed to strengthen my bond and reinforce those lessons. My dog and I both gained the confidence we needed in each other which helped her reactivity and quality of our walks. Forever grateful for Erin!!! Epic Dog Academy specializes in results and they won't rest till they are achieved! On top of that they also offer grooming and boarding which includes daycare. I have utilized all of their services and couldn't be more happy! We only get a short amount of time with our fur babies, where we take them is important. I am beyond blessed to have found this company and to have been paired with Erin!

Don't Believe the False Facebook Posts - Epic Dog Academy Is the Real Deal…read more I need to share my experience because there's a lot of misinformation going around about Epic Dog Academy. If you've seen those Facebook posts linking them to animal abuse - please, don't believe them. I fell for those rumors myself at first, and I want to make sure no one else makes the same mistake. I had signed my dog, Obi-Wan, up for the two-week training program and was so excited. But right after I told a friend, she sent me a Facebook group filled with terrible claims about EDA. I panicked and immediately called to cancel. Vincent, the owner, was incredibly understanding and patient. He explained that all those claims were false and even showed me proof - including records exposing the people behind the posts as having serious legal and credibility issues, but even though I already paid and signed all the paperwork - he still immediately refunded me my payment to give me time to do additional research. This is something he could have pushed back on but didn't, which really showed me what a kind and understanding business this was. Even so, I made sure to do my own research before forming any opinions. What I found was truly alarming: the main individual behind that Facebook group has a documented history of serious issues, including animal cruelty charges (all public record). His daughter once briefly worked with Vince - the owner of Epic Dog Academy - many years ago at a completely separate business. Shortly after, Vince left to establish Epic Dog Academy with his wife, Olivia. To be clear, the two individuals who now run that Facebook group have no real connection to Epic Dog Academy. The false claims they're spreading about the owner are completely unfounded and unsupported by any evidence, plus most of the negative comments appear to come from people associated with them. Once I realized the truth, I re-enrolled Obi-Wan - this time in their day training program. I drop him off in the morning and pick him up in the afternoon. It gave me total peace of mind to see him daily, and I can confidently say that not only is he perfectly fine - he's thriving. The results have been beyond my expectations. Obi-Wan listens better than ever, he's happier, and he actually gets excited to go every morning. Erin, his trainer, is absolutely phenomenal. She's patient, knowledgeable, and keeps me updated every day with photos and progress reports through their app. Christy at the front desk is another gem - her warmth and understanding make every drop-off and pick-up a breeze. Every single person I've interacted with at Epic Dog Academy truly loves what they do, and it shows. They treat every dog like their own. I can say with complete confidence that my dog is safe, happy, and receiving the best possible training here. Please do yourself a favor - don't let false online rumors stop you from giving EDA a chance. Check things out for yourself. I'm so glad I did, because Epic Dog Academy has completely transformed my dog's behavior and confidence. It's been worth every single penny (and I signed up for the Honor program!) I have given EDA permission to share my number with anyone who is hesitant to sign up. I'd be happy to share my experience with you if needed. -- Pictures of Obi-Wan were sent to me through the EDA app during his day training!

I can't recommend Manny enough! I decided to enroll Axel in his 3-week board and train program…read morebecause he was constantly pulling on walks and extremely reactive whenever we encountered other dogs. He could practically smell another dog from a mile away and would immediately start pulling and huffing. At 85 pounds, he was a whole lot of chaos!! From the beginning, Manny was amazing to work with. He was super communicative, always easy to reach, and regularly shared videos and updates on Axel's progress. It was so reassuring to see the work they were putting in and how much Axel was learning throughout the three weeks. The difference was noticeable immediately after picking Axel up! Our walks are so much more enjoyable, and most importantly, I've regained my confidence walking him around other dogs. Something that used to be stressful for both of us is now so much more manageable. What I also appreciate is that Manny doesn't just train your dog. He gives you the tools, guidance, and understanding to continue building on that progress at home. It's clear he genuinely cares about the dogs he works with and wants them and their owners to succeed long after training ends. I know training is an ongoing process, but Manny gave us such a great foundation to build on. I'm so happy I made the decision to do this for Axel and would highly recommend Manny to anyone considering training for their dog! I only wish I did it sooner.

Look no further! Ryan and Limitless Dog Training is the place to take your dog for expert training…read more Ryan is a master at training both your dog and you. Our Golden Retriever puppy, Maple, was out of control with biting, destroying everything from her blankets, her toys, our backyard landscape, and even the walls and base molding around the house. We tried to take her on walks but she would pull us around the neighborhood, and every little distraction scared her to death. We've owned four other Goldens in the past and never experienced this kind of wild behavior. Then came Ryan... he assured us that this behavior could be corrected with the right leadership, so we signed up for his two-week boot camp experience. The two weeks seemed like forever but when he brought her home she was our same familiar Maple but oh what a difference in her demeanor and behavior. Then Ryan followed up with us a week later and he reviewed with us all of our challenges that we were still experiencing. We quickly realized the problem wasn't Maple, it was us. Lots of little details like how to properly sync the electronic collar with the clicker, and keeping our finger on the clicker button so that we could engage it in a timely manner, etc. Once we got the hands-on training that we needed, Maple has transformed into a sweet, calm and well-behaved Golden Retriever. Thanks Ryan for your expertise and your expert training techniques. Ryan really understands how to train your dog in a positive manner so that you can reward their good behavior instead of reacting to the dog's misbehavior. Now we're looking forward to our weekly Saturday morning park instructions with several other dogs and all kinds of normal distractions that Maple will have to deal with when we take her out for walks, fun and play. Ryan, you are amazing! Thank you so much.

Doug literally saved my dog's life. I had adopted my 75 pound lab mix Bear from the shelter at an…read moreadoption event. I was attracted to his size and his calm demeanor. I also felt sorry for him because he seemed so sad. I had no idea how many issues he had even though the foster coordinator did tell me he had been returned to the shelter three times before me. I thought with love and training he would be a good dog. I had trained two rescue dogs before I had children and thought I was ready for another. After bringing Bear home, it became more and more obvious that he was a fearful dog and had many behavioral issues due to this fearfulness. He jumped at any noise, barked at anyone other than the family who tried to get near him and was absolutely insane on a leash. He also appeared to be extremely dog aggressive. I hired a trainer recommended by the shelter and although he was good and thoughtful, his passive approach was difficult to implement, and didn't address many of my immediate problems. He also said that Bear would take a lot of work and always be fearful. I tried another trainer that seemed a little more highly recommended (and yes, I'll admit it, cheaper). After filling out a questionnaire and viewing Bear at her facility she told me that it was just a matter of time before he bit another dog or even a person. She also said that he would always be fearful. Based on her recommendation, I tried to rehome Bear. I was very honest, posting his information on Facebook exchanges and calling rescues. Nobody wanted him, based on the fact that he needed training and was possibly dog aggressive. One rescue recommended I drop him off at a shelter in Agoura Hills since people there had more money and there was less chance he would be put down. I called the shelter where I had gotten Bear and they told me they couldn't take him back either since it would be next to impossible to find a home for him. The only ray of hope I had was one woman on the Facebook exchange recommended Doug as someone who had helped plenty of PitBulls through a rescue she was affiliated with. I called Doug in a last ditch attempt before taking Bear to the shelter (and certain death). Doug spoke with me for almost an hour and gave me several tips over the phone in order to control Bear until he could meet him. On our first session, he came to my house and observed Bear. It was tense at first as Bear didn't like any strange people, let alone a tall man in a hat coming into his house. Doug won him over by the end of the session and had him taking treats from his hand. Doug did a lot of observing that day, gave me some training tasks to do and left us with something we didn't have before - hope. In the next session, Doug saw a completely new dog. Because of the tips and observations Doug had given us, I had the confidence to take Bear to the local dog park. The ability to run and socialize with other dogs was actually just what Bear needed. At the dog park he walked right up to people and let them pet him. He appeared just like any other dog. When Doug saw him, he was amazed at how much more relaxed he was. Doug has given us tools and techniques to work with Bear and he is improving by leaps and bounds. I can walk him now without having my arm ripped off or worrying that he will attack everyone we meet. He is sweet and polite and learning to be an amazing companion. Thanks to Doug, Bear will have a home with me for the rest of his life.

I honestly don't know how to fully express my gratitude to David and his team at Performance K9…read more My dog, Pooka, is a German Shepherd who is almost nine years old. He has always been high-strung and reactive, and he was aggressive toward both strangers and other dogs. Every daily walk was spent in fear and constant tension, and I had almost given up hope that he could ever change. By chance, I was talking with ChatGPT about my dog, and it recommended Performance K9 Training and Boarding School as something worth trying. To my surprise, Pooka passed David's interview and was accepted into the program. After just three weeks of training, Pooka is a completely different dog -- a calm, obedient good boy. I no longer have to be on edge every time I take him out. To make sure the change was real, I stood with him outside a busy grocery store. With people coming and going all around him, Pooka showed no fear or agitation, and he did nothing to embarrass me. He was as calm as if he were at home. I could hardly believe it. David truly lives up to his reputation as a world-championship-winning trainer -- he understands dogs and genuinely loves them. I'm also very grateful to Sabrina, Julia, and Christina, who are warm, responsive, and attentive, and who make clients feel welcome and at ease. Once again, thank you to David and the entire Performance K9 team. I highly recommend them to anyone reading this review. Needless to say, this behavior does not bode well with my neighbors. I just moved here just a few weeks ago, and already began having problems with my dog, Faith. I met with Glenn Massie two times within ten days of the other. He had come to my place. He was very generous with his time and showed me how my lack of leadership was contributing to my dog's reactive behavior. He taught me that having my dog walking by my side vs in front of me or pulling on the leash, is where strengthening our bond begins. I no longer use a retractable leash. I only apply tension to the leash when I want to bring her back to my side. We avoid situations that might trigger her to become reactive. I have treats ready for her to distract her, offset any element of surprise for example getting on and off the elevator. While praising her, I have changed my cadence and intonation to be consistent with I am in control and I got this! This includes people passing by on skateboards, cyclists, children running about and having fun in the park. I am not going to change her or "correct" her behavior, but I am better able to manage it more responsibly. Thanks again Glenn!
