My desktop computer died two weeks ago. She was getting old. I think it was 1917 (woops! 2017; I'm…read moregetting old.) when I purchased her and some of her parts were failing. I sat down at the computer, pushed the power button and nothing happened. I mean NOTHING happened! So I went to Cal Tech to let "tech support" look at it. (my grandson is no longer available.) Mason advised I just replace my tower, so I took myself and my credit card to Best Buy where I purchased a lenovo computer CPU that looks like a tiny spaceship. I took the new "little guy" and the tower of the old computer back to Cal Tech. Mason efficiently moved my data to the "little guy", and did so at a reasonable price. I have since then dealt with Ethan, Matt, and Brent, the owner, who answered the phone on a Saturday! All of them have been considerate and clear in their explanations. They ran a bunch of tests, diagnosed the drive as the problem, removed the drive, tried to recover data, and were unable to do so. They pointed me at DriveSavers, made a few very helpful recommendations, and refused my efforts to compensate them "because they were unable to fix my problem."

I went in and tried to explain my issues with my computer, and the guy just said "ok". And didn't have any customer service at all. He seemed like he didn't even want to have a conversation and had no care in the world for any issues you had. They said they would charge me 150-225 depending on what's wrong. I was okay with that. Then when I was getting my computer back, they said it was it was just a bios update and that he's just gonna "charge me 225 just to update the bios". I'd been contacted by Facebook reporting "unusual activity from an unknown device" on Facebook but it was indeed me posting and I told them so. Right after that I found I couldn't use passwords into several sites including Amazon, Facebook and three other sites I commonly used. I brought my iPad to Ms Yakutis and after about an hour of poking around she declared my 5th generation iPad Air just too old and Said I needed a new one as it would just continue to degrade. For this advice I paid $125. What I ended up doing was contacting the sites I was being blocked from, deleting my accounts and starting up new accounts. My iPad continues to work as it should. I don't know why my passwords didn't work but the problem was fixed by me contacting each site. I still have my ancient, decrepit iPad and it's working just fine now. I do not believe Ms Yakutis is competent to work on computers, at least she wasn't equipped to help me and I got nothing for my money. Worse yet, she chalked it up to my device being defective and had me thinking I needed to go out and buy a new one. I'm glad I didn't take her advice and went ahead contacting the sites on my own. Had she just admitted she didn't know how to fix it, didn't charge me and all I wasted was time and gas I would not be writing this negative review.
