Superstition is a funny thing and I'm a believer. So when the Bolts started taking a dive in their second to last game of the season, my friends and I said, "fu#k it, we should go to Tijuana" when halftime hit. a few minutes later an Uber was at the door and we were making a run for the border.
We crossed quickly and hopped a cab to Caliente's Av. Revolución location. We walked in and there was still ten minutes left in the third quarter. Do the math on that one - Mission Hills, to the border in an Uber, then a cab to the casino and we only missed five minutes of the game when leaving at halftime. Told you Tj is a simple trip, guys!
We settled in after clearing the metal detectors and grabbed some drinks at the bar. The Chargers were on TV and we got friendly with a few locals that had money on the game. The mood escalated as the Charger mounted a comeback and ultimately pulled off a massive victory. San Diego would see another week of football and we'd have to find somewhere to watch it. Guess where we watched the next game? You got it, superstition kicked in and we made our way back to Caliente, which ultimately resulted in a disappointing loss - kind of expected. Oh well...
The casino itself is really clean, loaded with slot machines and table games. The real draw here has to be the sports book as it is always loaded with people and I actually enjoy placing the occasional bet too. Padres to win it all this year? The team shaped up and they're looking good - time to take a trip down south! read more
