When exploring the counties in Central Indiana, I always try to find gift shops or antique stores…read morethat might be independently operated. I found this shop tucked away in a strip mall on the near south side of Crawfordsville and was delighted. From the moment I stepped in, I noticed the pleasant aroma of candles and the comfortable appeal of country chic decorations and gifts. The main room has the check out counter facing the door in the center of the room, so you can explore to either side: Lots of candle varieties including some made in state, lots of items with clever witticisms to make you think or smile, women's bags, wall hangings, and seasonal (Easter) pieces to add some charm to your home. And when you think you've seen it all, there is another room to the left that has even more items including rugs, lap quilts, and other cloth items. More seasonal items were out in preparation for the weekend sale. The woman who was working apologized for the store being in transition, but it was still neat enough that I wouldn't have known there was anything out of place unless she had told me. She let me browse and asked how I had heard about the shop. I was surprised that nobody had reviewed her store yet on Yelp. When I was ready to make a purchase, she immediately stopped what she was doing so that I didn't have to wait. That's a person who gets customer service. Nice selection, fun things to look at, and good service. Check this place out if you like looking for unique things for your home or as gifts. Review #3744

If you're ever faced with the question of where to take your mom or mother-in-law or great aunt for…read morea little nosh and to browse for a bit, I have a solution for you. It's located in Noblesville, and it's called Providence Home + Garden. This place is catnip for moms and the mom-adjacent people in your life. They have plants! So many plants. Indoor plants, like the Pilea peperomioides (Chinese money plant) that vexes me to no end because I can't keep it alive, to the Dracaena trifasciata (snake plant), which I love because I can't kill it even if I wanted to. They have outdoor plants, too. Just grab a cart and wheel around, grabbing what you want from the nursery. There are home goods inside the shop, like cute pillows and welcome mats that say nice things, and cloth napkins that will have you pining to be the type of person who uses fancy cloth napkins. Cafe Jardin is located inside the home store. This is the place to grab a coffee or latte (hot or iced), or a pastry or baked good from the display case, or a quick little breakfast sandwich or lunch item. I got the chicken salad sandwich, because I've been on a chicken salad kick recently. The chicken salad here is served on a slightly toasted croissant. The croissant I received was so big that I had to discard the bottom half and just eat the chicken salad sandwich open-faced! Which was OK by me, actually, because that meant fewer calories. The chicken salad itself was very sweet, which is not my preferred way to eat chicken salad, but I think Cafe Jardin has its own way of doing things, which I respect. The sandwiches come with a bag of plain chips. I also ordered one of the seasonal iced lattes: the Strawberry Petal Matcha, which tasted so much like the strawberry milk that I used to drink when I was a child, except elevated for an adult palate with the slightly grassy taste of matcha. If you have kids with you when you visit, all the better. There's a little indoor family alcove area with games and toys near the cafe, and there are also lawn games and toys in the outdoor area, as well as a gaga ball pit. Providence is very family-friendly, and they even have kid-friendly items to purchase in the cold case, like juice boxes and squeezable fruit sauce. Bonus: Dogs are also welcome! Not only are they welcome, but they are lovingly invited in. There is a designated dog park here on the grounds of Providence, and you just need to show your dog's proof of vaccinations in order to visit. It's a lovely dog park, too, with a few agility equipment pieces and lots of space to run around. This is truly a place for everyone to visit and enjoy.

Jamie was there at the front to help me and she was so nice! I felt welcomed instantly! Such a cute little cozy place. I ordered the strawberry matcha and it was delicious! I also bought some goodies to take home along with some other succulents and a cute vase and bag from a local artist. The ambience is so relaxing and peaceful. Definitely looking forward to going back.

She could not have been more kind and warm; I'm so sad I didn't get her and the owners' names (but her daughter also owns the jewelry store across the street!!). Olive & Slate is a must-shop. Instantly the scent of one of their candles hits your senses and you're drawn in. They sell these awesome robot pieces made of metal and tin and are painted and out together by locals. They also sell flour towels with amazing quips on them (see pics below - they're only $7!!), and Mud Pie products that you canNOT love without. You gotta go visit. BRING YOUR MONEY! Buyer's remorse is NOT a factor here!

There are numerous items (like coffee mugs) styled with clever sayings. There are candles and pots, note pads, and ceramics. Near the entrance is a 3' long "Woodie" station wagon car filled with products. I've never seen anything like it! The mix is eclectic, but somehow the owner has a good sense of style and taste to make it look like it goes together. She was glad to assist if I had anything in particular that I was looking for too! Just another cool shop to stop by when downtown in Muncie! Review #2620
