I was pleasantly surprised when I stumbled across this shop. It's been at Purdue for 25 years and is the underground spot for Purdue athletes starting all the way back with Drew Brees. Ashley gave me exactly what I wanted when it came to the style. I will be honest, I was a bit nervous going to this salon as I am African American so I was afraid since my hair is a different type/texture it'd be harder to style. However, if you're in my boat with that being the case, please give them a chance! I will say it was unusual to put in my card information on the site, as I thought I'd be charged prior to the appointment. Other than that you won't be disappointed! My haircut is below! It is absolutely gorgeous!

My stylist was very nice and everyone else was. However, I feel like my hair didn't look like the pictures I showed. My stylist was very nice about trying to fix and give me curtain bangs, but I feel like they were more like normal bangs without face framing. At that point I just left before my hair was cut shorter. I like my hair overall and maybe next time I should be more clear. Pretty good service, a little pricey, but a nice salon. I did have to go home and use my hair scissors to add more framing to my face. But maybe that was just me haha.

She is incredibly friendly, professional, and skilled and I will keep coming back for as long as possible. This is a great place with a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere. The staff is very knowledgeable and skilled, and I recommend The Hairman Salon to everyone I know.

My last haircut was in early-October but my hair still looks good though it is covering my nape by now. This is always how I gauge the skill of the stylist. If my hair starts looking disheveled just 4 weeks after the haircut, then that person isn't good enough for me. Twice now with Gina, the new Sheek stylist, I've gone 2 months before I had to get a haircut. I also don't need to do much to style it: a little gel or oil, fluff up the strands, air dry and go. I don't have time to fuss with my hair in the mornings. Gina is Korean, but I had no trouble communicating with her. It sounds like she has been living and working in the United States for a while now so she is proficient in English. I recommend this hair salon.

It was a bit hard to find the entrance to the salon, but once inside it was cute and cozy. The front desk gal had me fill out some paperwork and then I went down stairs where the spa location is. The aesthetician who did my facial was pleasant and did a good job. Full hour service, which included hydration, exfoliation, mask, massage. Skin felt really good afterwards. Price was $65 which is reasonable for an hour facial. Unfortunately tip cannot be added on the card, and it's a bit of a hassle to add on a tip if one does not have cash. Good to know for next time. I walked in, and was not by any means greeted with kindness...you would have thought I must have looked like I was going to rob the place with the way/tone I was greeted with. Not a hello, not a smile, just a, "CAN I HELP YOU?" by a lady, who honestly looked like she might even own the place. Older lady, short (reddish?) hair. I was a little taken aback, but I understand sometimes greetings can be difficult. I walk up to the desk, and explain to the lady that I wanted to do something special for my mom's birthday on a Monday. I don't come to salons often, so I was truly just looking for some KIND insight. Instead of really being any help at all, let alone kind, the lady (in my opinion) very rudely says, "WELL, we aren't even open on monday. Most salons aren't open on Monday." Like I said, I am not at salons often, which I thought I made obvious with my humble questions I asked her initially. Instead of a comforting, kinda response, she talks to me in a tone and (i also think the response) as if I'm stupid. Call me crazy, but if you want people's business, maybe consider not making the customer feel stupid. I'm sure maybe the services they offer here are probably done fine, but I can tell you right now kindness goes a long way. I can truly say I dodged a bullet by not giving this business my money--let alone taking my mom here for her birthday.
