I enjoyed my time here, it was my first haircut in awhile. I went into this establishment with little to no information of the pricing, I wish they would have told me how it was priced because I felt the pricing online was misleading. My stylist was very nice and everyone else was. However, I feel like my hair didn't look like the pictures I showed. My stylist was very nice about trying to fix and give me curtain bangs, but I feel like they were more like normal bangs without face framing. At that point I just left before my hair was cut shorter. I like my hair overall and maybe next time I should be more clear. Pretty good service, a little pricey, but a nice salon. I did have to go home and use my hair scissors to add more framing to my face. But maybe that was just me haha. read more

I've never done a yelp review, but I was so impressed with this salon I thought it was the least I could do. I have a 18 month old son (Oliver) who is TERRIFIED of getting his haircut. I recently moved from Indy and used to go to cookie cutters, who specialize in children's haircuts. They unfortunately used clippers on him when he was very young and now whenever someone even touches his head he freaks. Anyway, I went into this salon with Oliver this week, told them that he desperately needed a haircut but that he was going to cry and wiggle so I might have to hold his head while they trim off the bottom. Mind you, my expectations were low but I was okay with that as long as we could trim up the unsightly mullet that was forming. I even offered to pay extra. I knew It was going to be a total mess. That's when Ashley (one of the stylist) told me that she'd be happy to do it. She let Oliver explore the salon, introduced him to everyone there, held him and played with him until he was comfortable enough so sit in the chair. He popped up there with ease! After that she distracted him with movies and songs, and slowly but surely earned his trust enough to get started! At first he squirmed a little but after a little break for a Lolly pop and a quick snug, he got right back up and let her finish up. No. tears. NONE! I was shocked. AND he looks amazing. However, this time, I had to go through their website online to make an appointment, and i honestly didnt know who to choose to do my hair. So i went with the only guy that worked there and also because his name was also my close friends name, Kyle. He was very pleasant to talk to. Very accommodating and even came up with ideas to make my hair color application turn out well. I was excited about the fact that he was more excited about how my hair would end up looking, which rarely happens because my hair is just so thick, doesnt easily hair dry and frizzy and many stylists are worn out by the end of it. Had a pretty mixed experience. They lost my appointment and the stylist seemed reluctant to help me do a trim even though there was only one other person besides me in the salon. Anyway, she finally agreed to give me a trim after 5 minutes of complaining. She did a nice job of styling my hair but it seemed very rushed. Their gowns also do NOT protect you from water so my clothes were soaked after getting my hair shampooed. After all this I thought my bill would be less than a normal woman's haircut since she took of a centimeter of hair off, but I got charged full price. So if I come back I'll definitely do more with my hair if I'm getting charged the full $40. All in all, I would maybe still come back because the choices of hair salons in Lafayette are limited. I go here regularly for a massage from Traci. She does a great job and my back always feels better after. I have a bad hip and she always remembers to ask to see if she needs to be gentle in that area. With the dimmed lights, relaxing music, and great massage, I usually fall asleep. Her studio is in the upstairs of an old building that she's done a great job decorating. She has 2 massage rooms, a bathroom, and a waiting area. While on-street parking can be a problem in this area, you can park in the parking garage next door. Her current price is %60 for 60-minute massage. Go see Traci, you'll be glad you did. read more

I really wish I didn't have to write this review, or be this person, but I think it's warranted at this point even if the only purpose it serves is to warn someone who might end up in my position. I came here ~ 1 year ago for subtle blonde balayage (virgin, dirty blonde hair, hadn't bleached/dyed in 5 years) and it turned out perfect after a couple at home tonings. A few weeks ago, I went back to get it touched up and lightened. My hair was so healthy. I barely do anything to it besides maybe a blow dry once/week. I showed my stylist some pictures of ashy and icy? blonde and asked how light we could go (avoiding damage or ugly result). She pointed out one that I really liked, and said with confidence that we could do it. I even asked "are you sure?" multiple times. She still said yes. For some reason it didn't hardly lift at all. My husband and my friends and family even noticed and said it looked no different than what I already had. It had about as much lift as one quick at home purple shampoo would do. I used to bleach my hair all the time in the past and never had this problem because my hair lightens EXTREMELY easily, and always has. So I very politely asked for a refund, as THIS SERVICE WAS $186 AFTER THE 20% TIP, because I did not want to bleach again and risk damaging my hair more. No refunds. I can understand that. So they offer to do a deep conditioning to prevent damage and try again. I was skeptical but I had hope. I went and did it again and I left with the epitome of brassy hair. It did lift more, but not much, and was completely brassy. Fine, I'll cut my losses and use the Redken purple mask samples they gave me and hope for the best. Waited a week or so to do that/wash my hair, and do a conditioning treatment on myself. The first wash of my hair since the second attempt to balayage, I lost about a quarter of my entire hair in the rinsing process. The purple mask did not work (I followed directions). My hair is botched. It was so healthy and extremely long, and I lost ¼ of it and it is still yellow. I have to live with this hair. I lost all that money. I am utterly humiliated to wear my hair down now, but I have to in order to avoid more breakage. I wouldn't be writing this review if it weren't for the fact that I have never had an experience like this with bleach or salons in my entire life. I have a lot of experience with both and this is the first time anything like this has ever happened to me. It isn't like I came in with dark hair, unrealistic expectations, or went against the stylists' advice. I know doing that can get you into this position. So I have no idea what happened. I don't want to just trash this salon or their staff, because they did care enough to try to fix it. I have no idea why this would happen, and I know this wasn't intentional, but it did, and I feel the need to warn others now and describe my awful experience. I literally lost a quarter of my hair and it is stuck brassy. Yes, it will grow back. All I know is that this should never happen to anyone and I will probably never go to a salon again. My friend and I both got haircuts from Brenna. She does not know how to give men's haircuts. Despite clear instructions, she messed both of our haircuts up. My sides are completely uneven, and my friend asked for 1 inch off the top but about 2 inches were taken off (only in some places) so it looks completely lopsided as well. Heard the hair stylists talking about me while I was still in the room. My hair stylist (Mikaela?) was complaining about my instructions to the other people at the salon. Not sure if they said anything else since I got up and left. I've had the same haircut (layered bob, shorter on the back than front) for about six years every three or four months and have given the same instruction every time. Usually I don't even need adjustments since as long as it's the right style I'm fine. Only three times have I not gotten a result I wanted. Twice was at eclectic. The only other time I was vacationing abroad in a non-English-speaking country. I had a great haircut the first time I went so I decided to give them another chance after they messed up once and gave me a haircut that made me look ten years older, but definitely not again after this time. read more

My stylist was Allbanee Flora who was available within an hour of calling in ( You can make reservations online btw). I didn't just get the usual trimmer experience, it was a real haircut; with scissors (It's a shame I even have to state that). I've been going to Eclectic for quite a while and haven't had a bad experience yet. The staff are very friendly and more often then not offer those waiting something to drink. They provide a a variety of services and sell numerous products (if you hold a stamp card with them, you can earn discounts on these). The only downside is the rotation of stylists. They come and go pretty quick, so it's hard to get to know just one person, but all the stylists are qualified and do great work. read more

I was hesitant at first (I've had bad experiences with other salons)but after speaking with the well informed and helpful staff members (yes, I said members. I interviewed everyone) I was confident that this was the place for me. I made a walk in appointment with Shawna, who has a wonderful personality and wide skill set as a stylist. She helped me decide what style and length would be best to flatter my face and lifestyle. While in Shawna's chair I trusted her with my hair completely. I ended up getting about 13 inches cut off and I don't regret it at all. She gave me exactly what I wanted and more. I recommend people check this place out. I had a wedding to attend in Lafayette in July. I called for a last minute Saturday Keratin treatment with relatively no notice. Curtis was able to sneak me in. My Keratin treatment went awesome. My hair looks great, 2 weeks later. The price, plus a bottle of Redkin conditioner and a $20 tip (Curtis was that good), came out to $140 LESS than I had spent for just the treatment alone in Chicago last summer... And that treatment wasn't nearly as good. I will absolutely be making a trip back to Lafayette specifically for another treatment in another month or two. To start with what's great, Meghan my hairdresser. I have been to her twice so far and she was amazing, no words to express my gratitude towards her. But the customer service at the salon was pathetic. the receptionist treated me like I was threat to the salon and would not even give me the basic respect. I was five minutes late and she said she could no more take me in because there was someone else at the same time, but we argued on the same topic for over fifteen minutes after my said time, and I saw no one come across. I decided I would never go there, even if I had missed on a great hairdresser. I'm not normally the type of person to slander but I honestly had the worst salon experience ever at this place. My hair was colored absolutely nothing like what I had asked for. I had asked for an ombré originally over the phone, received foils and highlights in actuality, but was told I received the "free-hand" technique of balayage afterward. The color I originally wanted really would have required very little bleaching, which is why I selected it, as my hair is extremely fine and very fragile to begin with. my hair was bleached up about .5" from the root. It was not gradually lightened either. Though I did not want to make a big deal of the matter, I did end up going back to have it corrected. While on the phone with the manager to arrange this, she continuously asked what was wrong with my hair, when I explained she would continue with "what exactly is wrong with it?" and "why do you want it fixed?". After waiting several days to come back in to get it fixed my hair was simply recolored the root color and feathered into the newly bleached hair. The result after one was was orange. Absolute orange. Along with this my hair has since broken so extremely I am almost certain and professional will suggested to cut it all off. Besides the fact that my hair color was never what I actually wanted and that the attempt to fix it literally made no difference: I was treated like I didn't know what I was talking about. I was given the exact same stylist to correct the situation despite the fact that I was clearly very unhappy with her quality of work. I felt as though the manager attempted to void having to have me come back in, let alone offer any kind of refund. My experience there was an absolute joke. My hair is literally damaged beyond repair. Every time I look at my hair I just think of this experience over and over again, because honestly it is that bad. read more
