We spent nearly two whole hours here going booth by booth looking at the endless treasures this on this place has. Easy to navigate layout, this store has a mix of many antiques on the inside as well as the outside. The restroom is on one end of the building and they got cool stuff worth selling in there too. A few booths are empty and some of them are overpriced but I would highly suggest stopping here if you're in the area.

There are many lovely pieces of furniture in great condition, old toys from as far back as the 20's/30's, collectibles and books. It's like visiting your old, rich aunts house, but you can sit on the furniture and touch the valuables. The prices are also in accordance with the age and condition of the items so there aren't any deals or steals here. This is a great antique shop and unlike most antique malls, it's clean, dust free and uncluttered by kitsch. Having a sporty, mid-size sedan saves me a great deal of money here because I always find something I can't live without here but won't fit into my car.

The shop is very clean and, unlike many stores of this nature, you can walk around without fear of creating a domino-effect of falling knick-knacks. I saw a really interesting German bicycle here recently - it was from the early 1970s and was made in West German, which I thought was neat. The shop owner was very knowledgeable about the bike and was able to tell me a little history on it. If you're strolling down Main Street and are doing some shopping or have some time on your hands, Main Street Mercantile is a great place to have a look-see.

I'm afraid to say that being a retail business is hard, and sometimes people get worn out from it. That said this is a solid shop, and there is a lot of inventory that changes ALL THE TIME ! I know I've been there and bought stuff for 25 years!). The owner operators have hearts of gold, but it's hard to show it every day for 30+ years! People love the quirks of the "TV show" people, but when they encounter real people... run to the internet and "trash them". Be kind... it's a store that is unlike any other for 200 miles or more. They support the kids of this community in many ways for many years, sure they may have pissed a few people off, but like I said, they have hearts of gold and more often than not are kind and helpful. He told us the the building originally was a chicken hatchling house. The original sign hangs behind his counter. The store is extensive yet easy to get around. Aisles are wide and it is easy to see the merchandise. They carry a great assortment of local antiques and vintage items. Prices range from low to high depending on the item. Glassware is nicely displayed. The upstairs is filled with furniture. He carries an interesting selection of old pipes and campaign buttons. To get to the store, you need to maneuver around road construction, but it is worth it. Rich is super friendly. We will be back.

There is also a few nice restaurants on the square if you'd like to dine while there. Peddler's Alley was close to the square so we stopped to check it out. The building is much larger than it appears from the outside. Convenient parking is in front of the shop. I was warmly greeted as I entered and I immediately headed to a gorgeous fireplace mantle close by. The grouping was gorgeous with the mantle, area rug, chandelier, willow branches, rocking chair and other home decor items. The large shop has several rooms filled with mid-century furniture, prints, lamps, home decor, candles, glassware, stained glass and so much more. If you enjoy browsing or looking for something specific stop in Peddler's Alley and explore this clean, well organized shop. The owner is friendly and helpful but allows you to browse at your spend. Stop in.
