I was on the hunt for the perfect upholstery fabric for window treatments--which turned out to be a long and difficult process. Ordering swatches online is time consuming and turned up nothing I wanted. I also went to a few warehouse style stores, but the selection was not great and the special order fabrics turned out to be unavialable. Calico Fabrics is a bit on the high side but the selection is excellent and I was able to score the perfect fabric on sale. The fabric is a plaid Ikat with rich greens, browns, cream and a touch of black. My fabricator made gorgeous upholstered cornice boards, a drapery panel to frame the sliding glass door and bonus--a Roman Shade for my office. Shout out to Gayle, who helped me at Calico. I have placed a couple of orders lately and am not happy with the product or their service. 1. Pillows are not well made. Fine but could be better especially at the price 2. Bedskirt for a standard king. I ordered a standard king (80long x 76 wide) bedskirt with a 15" drop. The bedksirt was made according the the "standard" measures that calico has, which was not 76" wide. They want to charge me to remake the skirt. I signed the ordered b/c I assumed they had standard king measures. It's a simple google search. They are blaming their workroom. 3. Ordered a headboard late in the day. Tried to cancel within 30 min and they "had to call corp". (East coast. Office closed). I had to continually call them to get an answer in if it could be cancelled. I feel like the store didn't really try to resolve. I now have the headboard- super poor quality. The "white glove" delivery is a joke. I guess white glove means they bring it inside without the brackets. I wonder if standard delivery means they bring it to the driveway? Called the store manager. We will see but I'm not hopeful. $5000 in one month and every item is wrong, bad or just Meh. read more

I visited Calico Corners about a week ago because I'm in to sewing, and this place was located near my hotel so I decided to check it out. First of all, I would not consider CC a "fabric store" in the traditional sense. They don't sell zippers or sewing machines or accessories for home sewing. They do, however, sell fabric. The home interior fabrics they sell are absolutely beautiful and high quality. This is a great place to get ideas for home decor projects (if you're a diy-er like me) and a fantastic place to order custom draperies or upholstery work (if you would prefer to let someone else do the work). In the back of the store they have clearance fabric where I scored a huge deal on some beautiful upholstery fabric for pillows. Quantities are limited. CC gets 5 stars because of their great customer service. Sales associate Robin was extremely friendly and helpful. When I was checking out she asked for my phone number and contact information. Normally I don't give out that stuff but the computer system stores a record of which fabrics you purchase. I thought it might be helpful in the future if I wanted to get more of the fabric or something. So I gave her my info. I left the store and checked out of my hotel and headed out to the airport. At the airport I received a call from Robin to let me know I left my credit card at CC. I asked her if she could mail it to me and she did! Just received it today. I was happy I didn't have to cancel any of my auto-payments or worry about where I had lost my card. I appreciate Robin going the extra mile to get my card back to me! read more

Service was interesting... not sure why anyone would feel the need to assert their political beliefs into a design discussion. While we are living in some strange times, it's hugely inappropriate for anyone to assume a shared political view. And then babble on about it. Our design consultant Cathy had a lot to say about her beliefs, political climate today, perceived persecution of our current leader, disbelief in the coronavirus, and much more. I wanted inspirational design conversations, not a dense cheer for a political party. Wtf?? Again, I understand there's much to be said during these interesting times, but not if you want clients to come back. Will never subject myself to that again. I suggest avoiding until hell freezes over. read more

Went to pick fabric for four chair cushions. The fabric i picked was the right color but not the right type for kitchen chair cushions... the fabric gets runs like pantyhose do when stretched.. of course every time you sit the fabric stretches.. and you get the pic. They offer reupholstering service and although I had a recommendation from a friend, I chose the easy one stop solution & let Calico do the job. The incompetence was overwhelming. The person who did the job covered the holes when that were on the wood of the old cushions, making it impossible to screw back in. A professional place would have inspected the finished work before calling the customer to pick the cushions up When i called the store it was apparent they were bothered by my call, and made it seem like it was a normal thing and I was making a big deal out of nothing. I've been looking for this place and didn't even know it. Drove by on the way to the Yelp party at Cafe Carumba and saw they had lots of bolts of fabric. I assumed it would be overly expensive being basically on the corner of Indian School and Scottsdale, but when I was in the neighborhood the other day I stopped in and was pretty happy with what I saw. They had tons of cute, modern home decor fabrics at pretty decent prices, especially for Scottsdale. The only thing that was annoying is that even though they have rows and rows of bolts you still have to order many of the fabrics (which will take 1-2 weeks to recieve), even if it's just for a yard. read more

Having been a customer of Calico Corners/Tucson until they closed mid-2000's, I decided to head to Calico Corners in Phoenix in December 2019 for fabric for reupholstering our sofa. Unfortunately, the attitude toward customers was similar to that in Tucson, which I think contributed to the closing of the store here. I did receive the beautiful fabrics both in 2003 for reupholstering numerous pieces of furniture in our home and now 2019 for our sofa and had/have no major complaints about the products themselves. (One minor complaint: despite Phoenix saying there were no flaws in the sofa fabric in 2019, there actually were three minor ones, all of which my upholsterer said he could work around.) After my experience with store personnel in Tucson in 2003, I told my husband I would never return to Calico Corners/Tucson, and this is when they were still in business with a beautiful Tucson store with great fabrics! To conclude, service in Phoenix this last December did not meet my expectations at all, including their providing inaccurate information and not offering friendly, polite, and professional service. SO HAPPY I did though. The girls at Calico we're so attentive and knowledgeable in helping me decided what I want and achieve the look I desired for a modern apartment. Despite COVID 19, the staff takes precautions regarding the amount of visitors in store - they arrange individual appointments and wear masks. Furthermore, they go out of there way to provide advise and take special orders - they set realistic expectations regarding delivery and my order came in faster than expected. Consumers beware--blanket sales "exclude" a lot of items. The store employees are all very nice, although quite a few new employees in training, so I experienced a lot of confusion but especially related to pricing. I was told my fabric would be on sale and checked out several samples to try out on furniture. When I returned, there was a plexiglass sign on the counter stating a "25% off Summer Sale on Fabrics." I saw the same ad online. However, in very fine print it says *exclusions. That's all. One word. And to my surprise, the fabric I selected, of course, was excluded from the sale. I was told designer fabrics were only 10% off and not the 25% but after arriving home, I noticed that I didn't receive the 10% either so called and was told this particular fabric was not included in that either! I feel this is very misleading advertising and it is obviously confusing to the employees as I was mislead (twice). My caution is not to believe the fabric you actually want will be included in any sale. This is a Corporate marketing department issue and not as much a Store Employee issue given they have to deal with the public, but do not run store advertising. I am obsessed with fabric and colors and have been looking for the perfect color scheme for my house. Being all over the map when it comes to pinpointing what I should go with, I decided to enlist the help of their free design services (awesome!). I luckily got put with this hip, smart, younger girl, Kate, who "got" me and my style within moments of our first meeting. She put together coordinating fabrics for my whole house. I know how difficult this is to do because I've been trying to do it myself for years, and she did it within 30 min. I loved what she picked out, I couldn't have done it better myself. I ended up ordering 2 chairs for my great room with coordinating throw pillows, an upholstered bench for my master bedroom, and plan to order dining room chairs later this week. I have looked at virtually every fabric store and furniture store, and they hands down have the best selection of fabrics. And it's so nice to be able to custom order it! I even cross checked their price with another furniture company, using the same exact chairs, to see if it was high, and it was exactly the same price! Why wouldn't you want to just get exactly what you want if you're paying the same for it anyway? In the future, I plan on ordering a window seat cushion with coordinating pillows, and draperies for a few of my rooms. I have all the fabric picked out, just waiting for the right time. I've been extremely happy with this gem of a place so far, and am so excited to see all the new fabrics in my house! read more

Working with this company has been the worst experiences have ever had! The customer service has been disastrous and that is being kind. The sales person Pamela did not take down the correct information and only charged us for material for two cushions for our two chairs which was supposed to be four cushions. She then blamed us for the miscommunication! We decided to still purchase the material but get the cushions upholstered at an honest business b can't se we no longer trusted them. Unfortunately the story does not end there, they then refunded us for the upholstery service but it was an overage in a refund, so they asked for the overage back which we were fine with dealing with their inability to provide any sort of professionalism. We said we would look at our records and get back with them on Monday morning but instead they took the money out of our checking account without our consent! Do not trust this company they are unprofessional, uncaring, incompetent and not worth the time or stress!! read more
