I asked and confirmed that: 1) I would not pay anything for the inspection at time of pickup, and that 2) I would not have to repair my vehicle with the same company that completed the inspection. (I have a local mechanic I trust already.) Then I receive a form from Caliber Collision requiring (quote): AUTHORIZATION TO REPAIR. (Required field) I hereby authorize Caliber Collision to complete the necessary repairs to my vehicle. I understand that payment in full will be due upon release of the vehicle, including any supplement charges. AUTHORIZATION TO DISASSEMBLE. (Required field) I understand I may be charged for disassembly, reassembly and/or partially completed work, based on Caliber's normal hourly labor rate. POWER OF ATTORNEY. (Required field) I hereby appoint Caliber Collision and its authorized employees to be my attorney-in-fact to sign my name on any check or draft covering repairs to my vehicle and to negotiate any such check or draft. I've used them in the past and they've always done a great job. The repairs will be less than half of what La Mettry was quoting. No insurance necessary. The less expensive place told me I was taken advantage of and that La Mettry is known for this. Steer clear.
